Posts: 6522Car maintenance and repair in Tijuana
MMAUFCfan.
What can go wrong with your Camry? A taxi driver in Tijuana told me his old Camry had gone over 1 and a half turn on the odometer, which was 1.5 million miles. It was an used car bought from California but everything on it was original despite all the deep pot holes and high curbs jumping at cars hehe. Of course he drives slow, unlike me.
If you can cross quickly into Tijuana, bring your own oil, filter, coolant ect, mechanics at Refractionary can change oil and flush radiator for $5, at the same time checking for any oil leaks, broken or bent parts under the car. Once they confirm the problems buy good parts and bring them back to them to replace.
I had a small engine oil leak, only a few drops a day but it made my garage dirty. Dealer wanted $1,200 labor to seal, independent shops wanted $800, the guy at Refracc charged me only $130. It was 10-hour job. Engine is now dry and clean, running smooth and strong.
Well there were some tapping noise in the engine bay in acceleration, especially in maximum -performance launches hehe. I thought they may have screwed up the timing chain so I brought the car back. The guy refused that it was a timing chain problem as he took all pulleys and the cover off but never touched the timing chain. If the chain was off by only 1 tooth, it could bend valves or crack head. He was trying to make me pay 200 pesos for a new inspection but I refused and pressed the 1-year labor warranty. Finally he relented and test drove the car in the parking lot. He quickly came back, tightened 2 loose bolts at the top engine mount. Car ran smooth again. I had a similar engine noise problem in another car that took many OC shops a whole year and they could not find and fix it. It was a 10-hour job. It was dark when he wrapped it up. He had to put the car on a lift, took engine mounts off and jiggled the engine up and down to remove pulleys due to a very tight engine bay in that car. A big job like that you need a lift and special tools with 2 guys and 4 arms to do properly.
Anything a man ever wants in his life he can have them all quick, good, sweet, tasty, sexy and cheap in Tijuana hehe.

Last time I used the card was 3000-peso withdraw in mid Feb inside Hong Kong front door. I did not block the card after that.
Today I got texts and calls from Schwab, someone tried to withdraw, but got declined 4 times, 3,000 pesos at at Banamex in Ecatepec. So Schwab does better security jobs than other big banks.
If they caught these crooks, they should be sentenced to eating HK's worst dead-fish pussies everyday for a whole month.

Posts: 6522Tijuana mechanics and body shop
I only use OEM-quality parts made in Japan, no made in China parts, so they are more expensive. Most of the $1,000 damages are parts, about $800, labor is only $200, not worth driving down to Tijuana. If they open it up and need to replace parts, they would most likely not have parts for my rare car, or they use shit parts made in China or Mexico.
Auto mechanics in Tijuana are a lot better and cheaper than OC. Those in OC are illegal Mexicans anyway and are mostly amateurs. I did a couple labor-intensive repairs at the Refrractionary shop, large yellow building corner of O'Campo and Calle 4. Miguel or Allen speak Angles and are very good with their skills. Bring your oil and filter. They only charge $5 for labor and they can diagnose any problems while your car while it's on the lift. They are a lot better at pinpointing problems than the stupid asshole mechanics in OC.
It's a large company with 5 or 6 branches in Tijuana with 1 year warranty for their work, you are safe. But they are very busy on Saturday and close Sunday, it's not convenient. For a large job you have to give them the car early in the morning on weekday. I only use them for large labor intensive jobs.
A couple of my wingmen got very good deals for body work with Ruben Carrillo on Calle 3 corner Negrete. Job quoted $1,200 labor in LA was done for about $400, quality and workmanship just as good, paint matched perfectly. Ruben speaks Angles and will make deals.

Jackie,
That route is new, there are very few hazards. The McDonalds rotary is not that bad, except a few pot holes around the construction zone.
I ran hard into a high curb, the hardest I ever hit anything. The alloy wheel was bent, center moved, cannot be repaired, had to replace with an used pair $350,1 pair struts $425,1 tire with sidewall bulge, new $110, alignment $100. $995 so far. I don't think it bent the frame, axle or tie rod. Hope the car will drive smooth again.
Damn stupid roads in Tijuana.

Jackie.
Policia patrol cars hide on all routes exiting the bar block heading to the border, Coahuila East and West, Madero, Calle 1, F Martinez ect.
The only route not likely ambushed is the narrow Constiitucion Northbound past Chicago Club, then turn right heading East towards North end of Ave. Revolucion with the bridge over the Tijuana river and El Chaparral checkpoint to Ped West.
But years ago when Chicago was the most popular club, I used to drive home alone way after midnight and sometimes got ambushed on that route too. 2 guys carrying submachine guns stopped me on the dark, deserted street near the old Purple Rain Club, looking at car registration and insurance. They were pretty rough, accused me of running stop sign, shouting orders, but I did not give them anything. After 5 minutes, game was up, the older policia was smiling, begging me for cervezas money, which I did not give.
Even if stopped by policias, show no fear, talk to them in calm, cool manners and refuse any accusations or pay off. They would go away.

Basically leaving the zona in any direction late at night there's a very high probability of getting pulled over, for obvious reasons.

Posts: 6522New car bridge Zona Norte direct to Ped West
For guys who drive over to party with Tijuana sweetheart, I just found a direct bridge from La Zona Norte to Ped west and the Mc Donalds' rotary.
For years I was driving the old cabbie route to Ped East on the medical lane at the end of Benito Juarez to the MsDonalds' rotary then hotel Pueblo Amigo to SENTRI lane on Ave. Padre Kino. That route was frequently back up with long lines of cars waiting for the READY lane. That lane has been recently painted Medical lane and there were warnings polcia would ticket cars without medical docs.
2 weeks ago after midnight I avoided that long line, drove down South on Madero to cross over the Tijuana river on Independencia, ran over a high curb and bent the rim. Damn.
A wingman took a cab ride back to Ped West. He said the taxi took a shorter route to Ped West over a bridge, so I investigated. Apparently after building Ped West at the El Chaparral check point, they added a 2-lane car bridge over the Tijuana river to Ped West. It starts at the North end of Ave. Revolution, right after the glass bus stop, goes over the river and go down right at Ped West and the Mc Donalds' rotary. It's shorter, less busy and more direct than the Medical lane. I can also drive North on Contitucion and get to that bridge, bypassing policias' ambush on Coahuila. Will have less exposures to policias, pot holes and stupid high curbs.
On the way South into Tijuana, I can drive off El Chaparral to the Mc Donalds' rotary and take the same bridge to the North end of Revolution, avoiding going through downtown on Calle 3. With all the body shops and lots of traffic. Will take that route to go in and out of La Zona Norte from now on.
The pedestrian route to Ped West is on the Liberty Path, starts at Mercado Artesennias on Negrete, go East over the pedestrian bridge over the Tijuana river down to the McDonalds' plaza. That route is dark, deserted and sketchy even in day time, not recommended for solo walkers.
Don't tell me I have not been trying to help the bros stay safe, spend less money and have hot, sexy times with pretty chicas.

DCrist.
Tijuana policias are not stupid. They know and focus on their targets.
Drug dealers are usually addicts, tend to look skanky, scraggy, filthy, stooping, shuffling around, looking up and down the street for heat. One of my wingmen was on a diet, lost a lot of weight, a very nice, cool, respectable guy. He looked tall, skinny, wearing dark, loose-fitting clothes, fit the profile for looks. He was walking around La Zona and was constantly challenged by dealers who were pissed off that he may be trying to squeeze into their sales territories hehe. Policias also picked on him due to his looks.
By your descriptions, you look completely the opposite criminal profiles in Tijuana. So you will always have wonderful times in Tijuana, only molested by crotch-grabbing bar girls.

Posts: 2569I agree it is important to hold your wallet and cell phone when the cops search you. The cops will often tell you they need to search your wallet. If they do demand to hold the money in your hands. It is ridiculous that the cops the cops want to search my wallet. About a year ago the cops searched me and they were disappointed when they did not find anything. That was really funny.
