Hi mate, nice to meet you. I have been in Haikou for 4 years and can speak mandarin too. But you know, even speaking mandarin is not so guaranteed. For example, when I go to other cities on island such as Qionghai or Bo'ao, I prefer to take a local girl with me whom she can speak the dialect, because you will be safe and will get lower price when taking taxi, having deals or accommodation.

I have been to Sanya in February and the weather can be cool to down right cold if you are comparing it to Bangkok or other SE Asia locations. We were there a few years ago and it was over cast and cool all week.

Was with the family so did not get out an about to sample the local treasures other than real tourists site!
