Guys,

Last time I went there 1 year back (after 5+ years back) to visit a relative and found that this so called mini 'red light' area was completely dismantled and regular people are living there now. I found that a series of sting operations approximately 5 years back (if I am not wrong) by a strict police commissioner completely eradicated prostitution in this area. That Commissioner even helped locals move into these areas, so as I know, there is a no place in Peddapuram that has a concentration of Devdasis (or prostitutes).

There are still some places hidden in some labour colonies and suburbs where still do this silently.

One way I was happy that these prostitution homes were gone because I am assuming that many girls from villages were brought here illegally and some might have been enslaved (like the ones in Bombay and other prostitution homes now).

Nowadays, what you get are independent escorts doing escorting this with their own consent (At least majority of the escorts in Hyderabad). I know the quality is not good and the prices are steep but at least they are not forced in to this.
