I have seen several girls on dating sites from Samara. I had a girlfriend from there, but never visited the city.

Seems reasonable that English skills are not as commonplace outside larger population centers where Busienss and tourism depend on it.

As for Samara being tougher than other Russian cities, I found it was the reverse. I ended up waking up in bed with some blond young thing in Samara, without really trying. The biggest hassle in Samara is the long distance to the airport. I mean, its really far.

I heard that Samara is hard if you don't speak Russian. Is this correct? Did you stay in a hotel or apartment? How friendly is it? Is there a lineup there or tochkas. How did you get to Samara? Did you fly into Moscow then take Aeroflot to Samara or did you take the train?

There is reportedly a burgeoning mongering scene in Samara, but the only data I have is that girls at the Hotel National park there between jobs, in the upstairs bar, and charge 900 an hour.
