Since experiencing the dismal scene in KL and the third rate talent on offer in Labuan, I had always subsequently brought my own to Malaysia, for Langkawi, Penang, Sandakan, Mulu and the Parks. But after this most recent venture from BsB west overland across Sarawak to Kuching, I would go solo without hesitating. In Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Kuching in the bistros there were girls, massage parlors where I was invariably solicited with offers on the spot, and to come to my hotel room later. And nary a westerner to be seen. The rig and field expats must be keeping a good thing to themselves. In Bintulu, walking into the nearby Queen Mark bistro, an astonishingly pleasant sight, with girls after partying happy to join you at the nearby JC Mark hotel.
