What has been anyone's experience looking for LT in Geylang?

In general, most Geylang mongers are there mainly for the ST experiences. Many of the SW (many are PRC, Thai, Indonesians) are only good for ST.
I've picked up some LT but most are not really into LT so its really hit and miss. Once again in general ( my experiences only) is that most are ok for ST and bad for LT in Geylang--but your experiences may vary.
Most will go elsewhere (such as Orch. Tower, and hotel bars ,etc.) for the LT experiences.

Never been to Geylang?--well, Its all mixed: its a bit of like the MPs in BKK (although much smaller version, but same concept---pick a gal from fishbowl (usually 5-8 gals in each house, but time is much shorter than BKK)
and the old Times Square (before it was cleaned up) or truck stops full of Streetwalkers/hookers and short time hotels.

So, its a great place as it has just about everything for everyone.

You wont be bored going there.

Thanks PT. It's the "time is much shorter" comments I've read that may be less than to my liking. I enjoy long time overnight, plenty of time, no rushed feeling, nothing like waking up in the morning (or being waked up) by a pretty girl next to you. Then you pay them to leave.

I accessed ISG at internet cafes in China w/out problems. The "big proxy" seems to work on most connections regardless on where you are..wikipedia was blocked both at cafes and on hotel BB. No biggie.. it was the collective wisdom from ISG I needed

All n all it seems pretty relaxed in China cafes..their only concern was getting paid

First I have to say "Thank you" for all the information you've made available. It has made planning my trip that much easier.

I live in Northern Thailand now, and I get in to Bangkok and Pattaya now and then, but I've never been to Singapore. I decided to travel there for visa reasons and will be there for about 4 days near the beginning of March. Naturally I wanted to explore Gelang.

The very informative report by Keen Eyed Joe (#293) and the excellent map of Singapore referenced by Peter Eastwest (#227) has made planning easy. I always try to learn as much as I can about where I'm going before I get there.

From what I've read here, the Geylang area seems to resemble the traditional AMP scene in the USA rather than the Bangkok and Pattaya "rent-a-girlfriend" atmosphere. I've been both places and I much prefer Thailand for the LT although I had a few real favorites in Connecticut and New Jersey when I lived there. But, I'll roam around a bit and we'll see. Sounds like the Indonesians have the nod and I'll be looking for a pretty one from Indonesia first.

But apparently the short last-night's rest and especially the activities of the night before that with a Jakarta cutie, took it's toll on JC. We took the taxi back to Geylang and we separated. JC would like to rest before flying out very, very early of Singapore.

I've been lucky so far I guess (knock on wood). I'm seasoned enough to bring my receipt as well as verification of confirmation when I check in. I've used these folks in Thailand and Singapore in the last few days without incident. Remember...hotels all over the world can lose reservations. It's great they did refund you money though.

Upon arrival (2am from US), the hotel front desk informed me that they dont have my reservation and I had to pay 59 Sing. $ (instead of 31USD). The next day, they found my reservation and returned my 59SGT.I didnt asiahotels.com for my next trip and not sure whether I should use in future.

I use asiahotels.com and get very competitive rates all over Asia.

I paid $29US for 3 nights at Hotel 81, Lorong 16 in Geylang. I was quoted $59S per night (which comes to $39US) at the front desk. I know it's just $10 saved, but added over several nights, you could have another ST.
