The steps up to the first floor reception looked like the entrance to sombodies house. Talk about sickness would have the alarm bells ringing, not so much the price, S$25 / shot is available in Geylang, even to a "whitey". Personally I've *never* been offered unprotected intercourse in Geylang (only oral). Elsewhere is a different story. Geylang is a safe place to monger.

You know, I have one further theory. It was a Muslim joint but they sold alcohol. Now maybe it's ok for an Indian to sit outside with a plate of food and a beer, but perhaps a bit too risque for a Westerner! Don't get me wrong, apart from that 'segregation' I had no problem, it's just for someone so used to the Western way of life it's strange to be told where to sit in a cafe as opposed to having a choice. Maybe I now appreciate some other aspects of life which never previously affected me!!

I dont think the eatery you went to was a Muslim restaurant as a true Muslim place will usually not sell alcohol and note that most Indians are Buddist or Hindu.
I'm not sure if you insisted on sitting outside and they totally forbid this (in that case I would have left and not give them my business) or they directed you inside as a suggestion that you might feel more comfortable there instead?

Yes, always allow adequate time to enjoy the mongering, otherwise its too rush and could become a waste of money if you cant enjoy it.

Not sure why the eatery made you feel uncomfortable? Geylang/Singapore is use to all sorts of people especially white as it was a former Brit. colony.
Perhaps it was the way you looked or dressed that attracted their attention.
I never had any difficulties in Geylang, but then again I've been there many times.

I was walking on Lor 18 from Geyland Rd the other day and a Chinese girl rapidly approached me and asked for 35$ for ST during a rush hour. I was surprised to hear such a low price, so tried to confirm, she even lowered it to 30$, immediately. I have been talking to Chinese girls past 2 days and this was very low price for that type of girl and she seems was in a rush. At this moment, a guy, who usually hangs out on Lor.18, by an internet cafe very close to Geylang Rd (next to the food court), called me to the side and told me that this woman has a sickness and he is doing it for my sake. I somehow believed the guy because of an unusual behavior of the girl, I thanked him and told the women "no", even though she further lowered the price to 25$, and then chatted with this guy. He was somewhat honest and stated some known facts, such as the best providers are Thais, etc, and told me about some of the girls, when they had arrived, etc. He knew some of the girls, recommended me some and told me to call him if I want a good girl. He is a local chinese guy and seems to be nice. He has an injured hand due to a motorbike accident. Has anyone talked to that guy or had similar experience?

I agree, as a white fella I never seem to have any problems in Sing or Geylang. Just look like your a regular visitor and you'll have absolutely no issues. One thing having been to India is that Indian people have a huge sense of fair play, so if any Indian had a go at you, you would find others would come to your rescue.

IMHO if you get in to trouble in Geylang, you must have provoked something.

I think being NYE wasn't a help, and also being on a strict time budget+ with expectations. I think the moral is that when one mongers, one should take one's time and do it properly.

For any first timers there- I know there has been a reply to my posting about getting stared at, but it actually can be quite an intimidating place. Last time, I remembered the looks I got eating in 'their' cheap food establishments, and one place I ate in wouldn't let me sit outside with the rest of the customers, almost like it was shameful to have a white man on display eating a curry. However, with that exception, I found if you have the balls to just do what you want and invade their territory, they will not treat you any differently, ie they won't rip you off etc. I know mongering is mostly a solo profession, but going to Geylang with a mate may be useful for first timers who feel a bit intimidated by stares and comments made in Hindi ( I presume).

In the next few days i'm going for first time in Asia but Japan, sigh ! Reading pause of three days varies participations on Singapore has preferred to plan one. Do you know the name of some hotel I give to lodge and that it does not create problems if port one girl in room? There are many cute Chinese pro-s near Lorong 6-14 between Geylang Rd and Guilemard Rd (I believe along Talma?). There are also Indonesian girls. The only problem with Chinese girls, I found, they speak no english. However, because of online translators, I was able to carry one-sided conversation. Unforunately, I was not able to find an online Thai translator (only dictionary), hence it was difficult to express my thoughts to Thai girls.
Most Chinese girls I had in Geylang tried to rush and leave. Finally, I asked her to leave tossing 5$ at her. I told her through the translator that had she performed well I could have given her 70$. Then, she wanted to stay and apologized, but I asked her to leave. Not more than 15 minutes later, I was happily back in my room.

Don't be too hard on yourself, Christmas Eve, NYE or any major holiday can fuck things up, even in Geylang. And P4P anywhere in the world can sense to the second how long since you got off that plane!

Don't know if you've mongered in GL before, but I hope your report doesn't put off any novice. Sure everyone knows why you're there (even if they're wrong) but really no-one cares. Take the girls away and the economy of the area would collapse (where else can you get your cellphone fixed at 2am?). The area isn't in the slightest bit intimidating, as a tall caucasian I get noticed but not stared at.

For the novice, the fishbowls / houses offer the simplest way to get laid. The PRC 'massagee' shops are best if you want just that, massage + happy ending. Excellent Thai massage is also available, though not all places offer extras.

I'm no stranger to Geylang but I'll have beaten your worst Fuck/Time relationship more than once. It's good area to take a chance on something different, but probably not if you've only one shot. Last trip picked up a Chinese FL off the street, cute, S$40 but a real starfish. Understood my very limited Chinese for the money, but not the service so I cut my losses, paid her off and found another. No. 2 was excellent.

Picking up GL it's probably better to have some common language with your provider or her 'agent'. That means Chinese (for most PRC), English for everyone else. Negotiate, be clear exactly what you're getting, where, how long and for how much and you should have a good time.

And finally Pete, we're talking the oldest profession here, it ain't going to die out anytime soon, least of all in Asia!
