i just returned from my semi-annual trip to singapore, and thought i would provide my perspective about mongering in the geylang area. i won’t attempt to provide a longwinded dissertation since many postings here have given a very detailed and accurate overview of what to expect. the purpose of this post is to give some insight about why i believe geylang is such a great place for enjoying our hobby.

geylang isn’t for everyone. in my limited amount of worldly exposure, i believe that if a man has to have a tall leggy blonde, he should go to the ukraine. if he's seeking a wonderful overnight girlfriend experience, i believe you can’t beat the la café in manila. if he wants want the most bang for the dollar, his money will go far in indonesia.

but in my mind there are four things that make geylang such a wonderful area for mongering. number one, it’s extremely safe. normally prostitution zones are known for being high crime areas (such as the zona roja in tijuana). but in my numerous visits i’ve never had a problem. as a caucasian i stick out like a sore thumb. some days i’m the only white guy out walking the streets, but no one has ever made any derogatory remarks or harassed me in any way. whether it’s 4 am or 4 pm, you can pretty much be assured of a hassle-free stroll.

number two, there are numerous low cost hotels in the geylang area that offer reasonable hotel rooms with basic amenities for budget prices. hotel 81 and fragrance hotel chains each operate several hotels in the area and i’ve found them to be adequate. rack rates are approximately $60 sg (or about $40 us), but if you book through www.asiarooms.com you can get a room for about $30 us. i’ve heard you can even get rooms cheaper if you go to the hotel desk at the changi international airport.

and the mrt rapid transit system (aljuned station) is only a short 5-10 minute walk away. as a tourist i’ve rarely had a need to use the bus or take a taxi because the mrt system covers such a large area of singapore.

number three, there’s wonderful cultural diversity in the working women of geylang! the majority of women there are from china, but there are also numerous ones from indonesia, thailand, india, and sri lanka. there’s even a corner where women from latin america congregate. on one weeklong trip i vowed to sleep with a woman from a different country every night. i would have achieved my goal if i hadn’t discovered how great indonesian women are in bed (but i’ll talk more about that later, ha ha).

and number four, prices are fairly reasonable especially compared to those in other “economically developed” countries. i’ve paid anywhere between $30 and $100 sg ($20 to $65 us) for short time sessions, with $70 to 80 sg being the normal price. maybe not a bargain compared to countries in the “third world“, but in my estimation the combination of price with safety, convenience, and variety simply cannot be beat.

here’s my perspective about women of various races i’ve encountered while in geylang:

chinese: you can find chinese streetwalkers at pretty much all hours of the day, and in all locations in geylang. the stunningly smoking hot chinese women line up along talma road between lorongs 8 and 10, with lesser quality but still gorgeous women hanging out on talma road between lorongs 12 and 14 . their quoted price normally runs about $100 sg, plus $10 for the hotel room. but what i’ve found is that high prices and great looking women don’t always equal up to a satisfying sexual experience. most of the women are quite young and the sex is somewhat mechanical. a couple would not give blow jobs and most won’t allow kissing. and it’s rare to find one that speaks any english, which detracts a bit from the experience.

another area with large numbers of chinese streetwalkers is along the alley that runs directly behind geylang road between lorongs 16 and 20. women here are normally older women as well as younger women who aren’t as attractive as the talma road women. prices here are lower than at talma road, ranging from $40 to 80 sg.

during my singapore trip this week i had excellent experiences with two older chinese women from this area on two different nights. each was about 40 years old and kind of plain looking, but were dressed in sexy skirts and high heels. both quoted me $50 prices but i felt like negotiating and they readily accepted my $40 offer without question. just remember that geylang is a buyer’s market, and i get the impression that many women who don’t have pimps will cut the price if asked. it was kind of difficult negotiating terms with women who don’t understand much english, but i actually found it to be kind of fun. and hearing a woman moan in a foreign language during intercourse is way cool too, ha ha.

the sex was volcanic, with long patient blow jobs and deep french kissing. i took a while to cum since i was so tired from the heat but they really got into the action and wanted to experiment with a couple different positions. and it was such a turn on to have their bodies shudder with spasms as i shot my wad in each of them. i’m not going to say that every older chinese woman will respond this way, but i definitely will try some older women on my next trip.

thailand: i would estimate that thai women make up the next highest ethnic group in geylang. many can be found on lorongs 12 and 14 between geylang road and talma road, as well as along the dark alley which parallels geyland road between lorongs 8 and 18. but you can pretty much find them anywhere in the area. most of the pimps i’ve encountered on the streets have been pushing thai women, and most of the women in the ***** houses appear to be thai, too. doesn’t matter if the woman is working the streets alone, being managed by a street tout, or working in a house, the price is always $80 for a foreigner. don’t bother negotiating because they’ve never ever cut the price. but i must admit i’ve never had bad sex from a thai woman. always good, always satisfied, but sometimes it’s a bit mechanical. you just can’t go wrong with a thai woman in geylang.

indonesians: now i’m going show my bias here. but in my mind, indonesian women are god’s gift to the sexual world. they were born for sex, and i have never had one who didn’t thoroughly enjoy her work. i’ve found that indonesian women really really like white men and are attracted to them in a physical way. i’ve walked by many of them who reach out and grab my arm and pretty much beg me to take them because they say i look so handsome. whether it’s true or not, it’s sure an ego boost, ha ha.

every one i’ve been with has loved deep french kissing and giving oral sex. most of the indonesian woman seem to hang out along talma road between lorongs 10 and 12, and also along the dark section of lorong 12 between talma road and guilemard road. the women in these areas look young, between 20 and 25 years old. and many of them are really really cute, at least to my eyes. you can also find indonesian women rep001tered along lorong 16 as well.

most indonesian women will quote a price of $70 sg, which includes the hotel room. as i’ve said, i’ve never had a bad experience with one, so just pick the cutest one you can find and let her work her magic.

indians and sri lankans: most of these women hang out in the alley which parallels geylang road, between lorongs 14 and 22. there are sometimes others that work on the other side of geylang road on some of the odd numbered lorongs, i think lorongs 15 and 17 have some occasionally.

but when i walk down the dark alley between lorongs 18 and 20, there are many of them who make “kissing noises” which signal that they want your attention. and many will reach out and grab my arm and want me to go with them. i must admit most of the women aren’t very pretty in my eyes, and i’ve never taken one to bed. most of them wear colorful sari dresses, which are their national clothing garments. to me the outfits aren’t very sexy, but maybe they are to other men.

latinas: i have found they hang out in two places. there are normally 2-4 latinas who stand at night under an overhang directly at the intersection of lorong 12 and the alley behind geylang road. there are also a couple who hang out at the intersection of lorong 14 and that alley as well. i’ve talked to several of the women and found ones from venezuela, columbia, peru, and one from spain. none of them are gorgeous but most are pretty good looking with fake boobs, ha ha. prices are normally $100 sg. i’ve never been with one because i love asian women so much, but if a guy wants to try a latina, there’s where you need to go.

filipinas and russians: i’ve never encountered any in the geylang area. if anyone has had any contact with them, please post something here so i can find them on my next trip.

it’s so hard to adequately describe the geylang area in just a few paragraphs. my recommendation is to read the forum, get a good map, and go take a look for yourself. i rather doubt you’ll be disappointed.

I just went thru Singapore and refamiliarised myself with Geylang - I know that it was up and running in just the same way in mid-80s, and not much seems to have changed.

Anyway, L6, H52, #7 was a 24 cutie from Phitsanulok who provided enthusiastic service for 35 minutes. Small shop before others, left hand side off geylang road. OKT can speak thai, but so can I so that sorted out any potential farang BS pricing. Paid SGD 80, and left a SGD10 tip. Few girls in small bowl, max staff <10 I suspect.

Standard process, catbath (a bit 'bitey' which I like), CBJ, allowed a good fingering to warm her up, FJ cowgirl and doggy. Good attentive service. Sanook mahk!

Basically geylang is segmented into different areas.

Since we are touching on Street Walkers, let me add in my 2 cents worth.

Usually, those at the lower end of the lorongs (street) are generally more expensive due to them being younger and prettier. Hence, as mentioned earlier by the previous person, the stretch along Lorong 8, Darlene Hotel and nearby, the going rate is $100. As you move up the lorongs, the rate generally drops to $80 as well as $60 towards lorong 14 and 16.

You can find older and cheaper ones hanging outside the sole petrol kiosk outside the main road between lorong 16 and 18, along the side of the road in front of the petrol kiosk and across the road over the overheadbridge.

Hence do not pay more than necessary to avoid being ripped off by them. You can also find some standing along in the odd lorongs (ie 15, 17) across the main road. Prices are subjected to agreement and varies.

If you are more adventurous, walk up towards lorong 20+ where you can see many eateries, whom locals termed coffeeshop where the girls sit around and talk, while others are standing inside the dark lorongs looking for customers from passerby. Again price varies but it can go as low as $50 for short time.

Thats about it for Street Walkers in geylang. For more actions elsewhere, hop into a cab from Geylang and tell the driver to bring you to Joo Chiat Road, which is just less than 10mins ride away and should not cost you more than $5.

Ample of pubs there with many pretty vietnamese that you can hook up inside. Generally you buy a drink and sit down and the girls will come to you. If you decide to get them to accompany you, they will sit with you and you can do what you want with them, ie touching etc. Usually they will butterfly around (move from table to table) and back to you. A tip of $20 for the girl will usually suffice. If you spot anyone you fancy, usual rates are $100 per pop excluding hotels which are ample along the street. For clean and safe hotels, use hotel 81.

Higher end brothels

As opposed to the fishbowls, there are a large number of higher end brothels in Geylang. Unfortunately, there is not much to distinguish them from the fishbowl places in term of exterior. Essentially it is a house with the house number represented by brightly lit signage. If you are absolutely unsure, then I'd recommend hitting Lor 16 House 6A (being my regular place). In fact, the whole stretch of House 12 to 6A are all such establishments. I have seen caucasians frequenting House 6A, so no problems for the caucasians amongst us. There are also 20+ such houses on Lorong 18, 20, 22 and 28 and 30.

Pricing wise, the standard price is S$150 for the younger girls and S$80 for the slightly older ones (roughly in their 30s) for about 45-60 minutes of time. I must confess, while I've patronised such areas many times, I've never actually asked how much time is allocated. I seem to have plenty of time to enjoy myself and have never felt rushed. I've heard of some establishments who charge S$200/S$100 for foreigners, but being local, I have no specific idea of which house. Most of the girls are Chinese from Malaysia, though there are a few Malays and Indians as well as a very small number of local Singaporeans. Opening hours are typically from noon to midnight.

In terms of selection, these houses differ from the fishbowls in that there is no selection. You will be asked if you have anyone you prefer. If you have no idea, then you can describe what you are looking for to the manager, who will try his best to accommodate your requirements. As a general rule, I've felt quite satisfied with the manager's recommendations.

One thing to note is that these places are happy to bring girls in from all across Geylang, so it does not matter if the girl you're looking for is "based" in any particular house. In any event, if you are a visitor to our little island, it is unlikely that you'd have any regular girl, and the manager will try his best to find an available girl that matches your description.

Service wise, it seems to always begin with a shower, followed by a BBBJ and FS (covered). Some of the girls will indulge in some hanky-panky while showering you, some will not. Many of the girls will also provide AR. As a general rule, there is little initiative on the part of the customer, and most girls have a (fairly extensive and enjoyable) routine which they will go through in order to please you. However, if you have any particular requirements, please feel free to tell the girl, who will generally try very hard to accommodate you. Though if you are keen on anal and/or CIM, you should inform the manager before hand as not many girls will accommodate these.

In terms of quality, this generally represents the premium sector of commercial sex in Singapore. While there are most expensive options (escorts, orchard towers, etc), I feel that the S$150 category of girls generally presents the most value for money in terms of quality. Many of these girls are very attractive, and are very good at what they do. I highly recommending trying it out.

I thought I'd give some input on some of the other options available in Geylang apart from the $40/$80 fishbowls. Namely, the SW scene and the higher end brothel scene.

SW Scene

I am only familiar with the somewhat higher end SW scene in Geylang, so I'll limit my information to that. The area in question is centered around Darlene Hotel on Geylang Lorong 8. Just walk along Lorong 8, and turn in at Darlene Hotel. There are actually two hotels there, but both are ST hotels (approximately $10-15 for the room for an hour or so). The SWs hang around the carpark area, as well as the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

The SWs there are all young-ish girls from China, and the premium going rate for the prettier ones is $100 for approximately 45 to 60 minutes of time. They are generally caucasian friendly, though many will try to charge more. Two girls at one time is also possible with many of them (the chinese term is "shuang fei"), though I'd generally recommend picking one and letting her call a friend, since chemistry between the two girls is important.

The approach is similar to that of SWs in most parts of the world. Walk around, and some will ask if you want to go with them. See one that you fancy, just walk over and stand next to them, and they will mostly ask directly.

Service wise is reasonably standard. BJ (mostly covered) followed by FS (also covered). If you want anything else, you should confirm your requirements before going up to the hotel room.

I take it from your nick that you either reside in BKK or you're a frequent visitor there.

Going by the analogy that local food is best eaten umm... locally, thai food in Singapore is likely modified to suit "Singapore tastes". Hence, perhaps not as spicy (?)

ST at a Geyland Thai house is S$40 = THB 1000. Emphasis on "ST" - youre out the door in 25-30 mins. Not familiar with the BKK scene, but I've certainly had better Thai food in BKK as opposed to SIN.

Here's where things differ from Amsterdam - just my opinion, of course.

"Designated Red Light Area" (or its acronym DRLA) is not likely an officially sanctioned term in the Singapore context. I suppose the approach here is more along the lines of things being 'tolerated' in a certain area.

A bit of history: Back in the colonial days the warehouse district was situated where the entertainment districts Boat Quay and Clarke Quay now stand. The older red light area is in Chinatown, along Keong Saik St. Perhaps this was the 'centre' of extra-curricular activities at the time for dock labourers. I have heard you could still procure services there, but you'll likely encounter much older SPs.

Exactly when Geylang came about I'm not exactly sure, but I will guestimate the 80s. Maybe things started from a few 'hostess bar' type places, only because some of them in the area look like they've survived to this day since then!

The status of Singapore's legal houses is not really 100% clear. It seems when you are trying to get clarifications from the Singapore gov't their tactic is to put you on hold until you give up, basically...

Interesting discussion on Singapore Law. My humble 2 cents:

As a precursor, it would be important to note that under Section 140 of Chapter 353 of the Women's Charter, entitled "Offences relating to prostitution",

Any person who —

(a) sells, lets for hire or otherwise disposes of or buys or hires or otherwise obtains possession of any woman or girl with intent that she shall be employed or used for the purpose of prostitution either within or without Singapore, or knowing or having reason to believe that she will be so employed or used; ....

...shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000.

Which would render "legal houses" technically illegal.

Does anyone know if Singapore has a law against discriminatory pricing based upon your ethnicity? Most advanced countries in the West have that, but I realize Singapore may be different. But in case they have such a provision, Singapore law applies to the legal houses as well, right?

Perhaps it could then be argued that since "legal houses" are technically illegal, even if there was a law against discriminatory pricing based on ethnicity - it would not apply under these circumstances?

There are 9 Hotel 81s in the GL area - anyone that's located in L8 - 14 would be very conveniently located.

I stayed in Hotel 81 Hollywood (Lor 8) for one night on my first trip and although the room was tiny it had a nice big bed and was OK ($49 S). Any chance there is a cheap hotel in the area with an in room safety box? I once stayed a little too far from the action in the nicer Lion City Hotel and it had no in room safety box so would guess the chance of finding one in the heart of Geylang is small.

My first time in Geyland I just read as much as I could in this forum and had a great time. I walked out of the hotel toward Geylang Road and had guys out on the sidewalk trying to get me to come into fishbowls before I even made it the block and a half to the main road :-).

Keep in mind, you pay twice the price and get twice the time so it is not really discrimination.

I specifically asked the OKT's for single time and was denied it because of my ethnicity. Anyway you slice it, it's racial discrimination. I find it pretty amusing so many guys are willing to defend the practise.
