The trip from Colombia upwind to Curacao is a nightmare. I did it once to Guadeloupe and had to stop in Curacao for a seasick crewmember--not to bad had fun ad disney-campo.
However I would never again sail upwind back towards the caribbean from Colombia.

114 TOTAL CASES AS OF YESTERDAY, NO NEW CASES 36 ACTIVE. Thats the good news.
Bad news is Colombia is Closed for international travel. If This Keeps up, I will probably sail to Cartagena in November quarantine and then it is party time.

Posts: 417Sint Maarten is having an outbreak of covid19 cases are getting up fast the last few days. There are still girls there I know of a fine one she is posting pics in parties in SXM at VIP table with 3/4 bottles of champagne and riding around in expensive cars. I think she is currently dating a rich guy in SXM she posted holding hands living the expensive life so probably she is not available for other people.

Posts: 345USA Travel to St. Maarten
Dutch side has all flights from USA Banned until Aug 1, and subject to further restriction. At this time JetBlue has only one flight scheduled Aug 1, 15,22, and 29. Fri-Mon in Sept. And daily in Oct. Cruise ships are not scheduled into port until Sept 22. On top of this, the USA Passport office is not processing any renewals. It has been shut down except for medical emergencies since March. Estimate 3-4 month backlog of millions of renewals. Usually takes two weeks. Ugh. All this, plus the girls being unable to get back to the island, tells me St. Maarten is off my list for 2020. And let's also hope the newest possible hurricane that is projected to travel thru St. Maarten takes a serious right turn.

Posts: 2040I was in St Maarten June 1 -4. I did not get to see much of the island but things seemed normal. However unless you want to swim there the airport is still closed to commercial aviation.
In addition Colombia is Closed for air traffic.
The worst is yet to come in South America.

Posts: 47Phase 4 opening up SXM
From the Daily Herald on 6/14:
For the Phase 4 reopening all remaining categories of businesses that had been closed in previous phases are now allowed to open from Mondays to Sundays at regular operating hours. This includes, but is not limited to market vending; bars, nightclubs and dance establishments; adult entertainment establishments; massage parlours; manufacturers and breweries and festivals, events and conferences.
Let the games begin. Wonder what it is going to look like.

Posts: 110Sometimes this thread is just too funny LOL. Instead of packing my own rubbers I'll be packing my own latex gloves and my own masks. Screw that, I'm going to walk into El Capitan with a full face shield!

Are you still where we met last? Did you get that sign in your City?
I went to SXM via private plane and was quarantined to my boat. , Screw that, I sailed to St Thomas-there is some fun to be had here.
Nice to hear from you.
I have been spending my time in MDE although it is a little crazy in the streets lately.

Behind closed doors, anything is possible, but if the relaxed, carefree vibe, no longer exists, and dealing with a chica now becomes a quasi doctor's office visit, with just a chance to oogle at the hot nurse and maybe end up with a handjob with a surgical glove on, then my trips abroad have ended. Glad I sowed all my oats the past twenty years and gotten all my Caribbean bucket list destinations, basically crossed off. Blast from the past with Routard making a post on here! Brings back memories of reading and visiting the original Seaman's Club. Now known as El Capitan.
Not reading much encouraging news about Campo on the Curacao board either. Snuck in my first visit last fall luckily and got hooked. Now, not sure if the place will ever reopen. Keep the on the ground reports coming, and maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised that SXM, as we know it from the past, will bounce back and be it's old, fun self!
