I've been to SXM 4-5 times in past but with the whole COVID situation, I see everything is different now with traveling to SXM (proof of vaccine, Covid insurance, health form and approval, etc), curfew at the clubs and mandatory COVID test for traveling back to USA.

At Mel365 - thank you for your continuous contribution here. Do you mind sharing details on how's the current setup at Carolinas and best times to go? Do girls wear masks and is it mandatory for guests to wear?

Also, do you have any recommendations on COVID test location for flying back to USA?

Just read a headline story on yahoo today that both French and Dutch st. Martin / st. Maarten are listed by the CDC as high level risk Caribbean destinations along with St. Barth's and a few others. Curacao has issues as well and most of these islands have curfews. Now there is a variant of Omincron. BA. 2? This is such bullshit. Will we ever get back to normalcy. My travel to the Caribbean is now pushed back to fall of this year. And even that might not happen. So much for a spring fling! For those of you that have navigated SXM during these times. I have seen the CDC report and have seen an unverified report that Covid Cases are in steep decline in Sint Marten. I am hoping the latter report is at least partially true because I have a trip planned for the second half of February. My November trip went off without a hitch so hoping for more of the same. I guess we'll see.

I was just wondering how hard it is to find an antigen test in SXM the day before I would go back to the US. Are there rapid tests available at the airport? If not, where do you guys usually get your tests done? Anybody have any recommendations for testing places (on the Dutch side) and how much does the test usually cost?

I would strongly suggest to rent a car.

If you drive along the salt pond on the back of Phillipsburg, there is a traffic circle with bronze statues of salt pickers. That is the road to the clubs. Petite Chateau or whatever it is called is close to town (dump- next to the dump). Skip it. About a mile or so down the toad before you get to the first T intersection (arch Road) is where Carolinas and crystals are located.

If you continue to arch road and turn right. The next T intersection turn left and El Capitan will be on your left about 200 feet, DO NOT WALK TO CAPITN FROM CAROLINAS OR CRYSTALS.

If you pass El Capitan and continue another mile or so after going over a hill you will see Empire on your right. You really need to explore these clubs as you never know what you will find.

The bar fine for the room runs from $5- to $20- depending on the club or how much time you want with a chica. They are asking 50-60 for 1/2 hour and 100 + for an hour.

You must be out of the clubs by 11 PM new Covid curfew.
