Plenty of cruise ships in port this week. It means most chica bars open at 10 am.

This intel is an update from my rough estimate a couple of months ago.

Just say "que bonita te amo vamos". That is pretty much all the Spanish you need to get laid.

A $200 escort is a whole different market from what generally attracts folks to SXM.

The big guy at the door of El Capitan is for YOUR safety. He's not going to exclude or threaten you.

As I mentioned in another post, day visits pretty much avoid the safety issues, if they're a concern for anyone.

Locals can be off-putting, but are by-and-large harmless.

Never had an issue with the M-to-F ratios.

* USD is the primary currency. Everyone takes it. I've never exchanged.

* Do not plan to walk. Rent a car. Rent it as far in advance as you can. Check for damage and photograph any damage when you pick up the car.

* Cabs are informal and you can't depend on getting one on either end, especially where you're staying. Closer to the cruise ship dock would be different.

* The biggest issue on that part of the island is parking. Hopefully, your lodging includes it.

* I don't know exact hours, but if you get there around or after lunch, the girls who were up late have gotten their beauty sleep and are ready to work. I like the day time, myself. Safer, and you don't lose girls who leave with a guy for the night.

2) These places don't seem to have websites, how will I know what their hours are? I know there's a siesta around 4 p-8 p but not sure how I would know when to arrive for the morning shift.

3) It looks like everyone is talking about prices in USD. Is there any reason to exchange for Dutch Guilders? My plan was to spend money only on food and at Carolinas and Crystals, not sure if there's anything that I'm missing that would require currency exchange.

After hearing about the the guy to girl ratios at Carolinas and the Crystal Club I sought out a local escort. Both were questionable and not worth the personal risk to me. Went to El Capitan too. Hey man,

It is not a nice walk. Take a 10 dollar cab.

Now it is high season. Clubs open around 10 am. To see most of the chicas, you need patience. Perhaps after 11 or noon. Perhaps not. It varies all the time. You rarely see more than half of the chicas at the same time. Often just 3- 5 chicas. And then suddenly there is a change.

Clubs open around 8 pm in the evening. But are often dead untill 9 pm. Best between 10 pm and midnight. Closes around 4 am in the morning. Or, when the party stops. Sometimes the party never stops.

Carolina got around 25 chicas at the moment. Crystal and El Capitan around 10+ each. Rumours about increasing numbers in January. If not sooner.

Stick to USD.

Glad I was able to give you some limited guidance! LOL. Been a long time traveler to SXM and every visit I rent a car, so didn't know about the local bus fares or structure. I knew the cabbies were going to soak you going from Maho to Carolinas. Guess I quoted the conservative dollar amount. Nevertheless you achieved your objective. And you got really lucky with the chica you hooked up with. Usually (especially early in the day) it's standard f / s and the add on's you got are extra. So consider yourself a lucky guy. Or Brad Pitt's brother! LOL.

I ended up taking the local bus to Phillipsburg for $2 at 10:30, then grabbed a cab for $10 from there to Carolinas.

The second I walked through the door I had a hot little Colombian girl on my arm taking my up to the bar, paid the bar fine and went back to a room with her. She was gorgeous and really enthusiastic. I got BBBJ, DATY, and anal for $60. Needless to say I didn't last long but that was fine, it was a hell of a time.

Grabbed a cab back to Phillipsburg market for $10 and hopped back on the local bus back to maho for $2. Was back by 12:45 or so.

So if you are staying in Maho with no car, I am guessing you are either with wife and or family and have taken the hotel provided shuttle from the airport to whatever property you are staying at. Hopefully you get to read this in time. You are looking at about an hour ride to Carolinas, purely because it's a week day and the traffic that it presents. Factor in the schedule for the draw bridge opening and you can be sitting for a bit. You're looking at the same on your return. You may be able to google Simpson Bay drawbridge schedule to help with the planning but seems like you have a short window to duck out. You need to be on the road around 10 am And get back in the cab no later than 1 pm To get back to Maho by 2. Tell the wife you want to go to Philipsburg alone to buy her something and then buy something at one of the shops at Maho. But you will pay more at Maho.

And on the subject of paying. I don't know the pricing structure but since it's an hour out and an hour back. You may be looking at at least 50 bucks for the cab fare. Maybe more. I would get a legitimate guy. This way he can hang out in Philipsburg and do some work from the taxi stand in front of the courthouse, while he's waiting to pick you up at one. Make sure you get a plan in place with the driver. And don't worry about directions. Every guy knows where Carolinas is in SXM!

The catch is I can really only go in the late morning / early afternoon so I was wondering what if anything is open that early (11 am-1 pm) and what my best bet is? Head to Carolinas. If you are staying in Maho and taking a cab, get a jump on the traffic and the draw bridge opening and leave an hour early. Negotiate a round trip fare with the cabbie and pay him when he picks you back up and drops you off at Maho. If he drops you and leaves, you will have to rely on the guys hanging out in front of Carolinas which usually are gypsy cab drivers and you may pay dearly since they have to get you all the way out to Maho and then come back with an empty vehicle. If the bar appears empty duck into the Chinese restaurant next door and see who is up having breakfast. If cruise ships are in port the place will be jumping by 11:30 or 12 noon.
