It has been over one year since first I was recommended to this board to do my 'research' in preparation for my first, and to date, only visit to the Hessen Two: Palace & Oase. Amazingly, the 'arguements' about Palace have changed little in that year. Yet, as a freshman, Newbie, Timmy Tourist, I was able to 'swim' in the waters of Palace with few difficulties. Because of my research on this board I was able to locate the likes of such notables as Bee (Bea) and Kimmi. Great points. I agree on all counts. Even though I've had mostly unsatisfactory experiences at Palace (and VV), I still try to get back at least once a year to see if we can turn our love/hate relationship around. 1) The fact that I and others have had bad experiences at Palace cannot solely be attributed to our faulty antenna or lack of skills at sussing out the sharks. The same antenna and skills serve me pretty well in other clubs and situations. There is something in the environment and vibe there that allow sharks and scammers to freely breed. Yes there's a fair measure of each in other clubs, but a healthy preponderence of them in Palace. It's not a coincidence. Species breed in conducive environments.
2) For those of us, who live across the pond, even someone like me who gets over on a fairly regular basis, there's a need to set priorities. We can't visit all of the clubs regularly, so we have to choose to maximize our time and expendable income. So we go to those clubs where we feel we can maximize our experience and get the most value for our hard-earned bucks. For me it will always be to those clubs where I feel I'm getting the best service on a regular basis hence my affinity for Bernd's and Oase.

I admit that I'm not familiar with the current lineup at Palace, and I understand that by writing this I'm opening myself up again for claims that I'm attacking Palace without having recently visited. I'm not attacking it or comparing it unfavorably with other clubs. In the end, as has often been written here, each one of us needs to try out clubs on our own and draw our own conclusions. Often those conclusions have more to do with our own life situations and inclinations than with a particular club or SP.
