Hotel recommendation for Pattaya and Bangkok.

    Hello friends,

First, I would like to thank all the senior members for Great information shared in this thread. With all the inputs and my requirements, I have been able to shortlist Dynasty Inn for my upcoming trip towards the end of this month.

While the reviews in this thread look Great, I am a bit concerned about the review in other websites. Could you please guide if there are any better properties around Second Street in similar budget (THB1200) which is guest friendly.

Would also need your recommendation if this would be the best location for someone travelling there for the first time. I am interested in the freelancers and GoGo Bars.

This is my first trip to Thailand and I am looking forward to a great week (3 days Thailand & 3 days Pattaya).

Any helpful hints you can share to make this trip worthwhile is highly appreciated. Please also share your recommendation for Hotels in Bangkok.

I will definitely share my experience and findings in this thread.

    Thank you all.

    SR.

    Baywalk Residence.

Anyone been here in 2018? I stayed here about this time last year and it was GF with no fee. Hopefully still is! Also, have they updated their old tube TVs?

Scandalec guest house and owl hostel

Both hotels cost 500 thb so are for thone on a budget. Owl hostel says hostel, but it is a hotel not hostel. Both are on soi 9 off 2nd road. Bot are girl friendly.

Scandalic was about what you would expect for 500 baht. It is above a restaurant. The shower was weak pressure. The room was clean but still kind of grimy feeling. To get in at night you unlock the door into the restaurant and head to the back and up stairs. I saw a video of this place on youtube that recommended it. I would not.

Owl hostel is also 500 baht. It is much cleaner. There is someone in lobby overnight. The room is small but clean with good ac and tv. If you want a hotel for 500 thb I think owl hostel is as good as you will find.

Sun Xclusive Hotel and Swiss Restaurant and Hotel

    Hi Guys.

This hobby is not stop haha. We are looking at alternative accommodation around Pattaya and my wingman stumbled across these hotels. The Sun Xclusive Hotel and the Swiss Restaurant and Hotel.

Can anyone give me any information at all about these properties? I'm not expecting much out of the Swiss being in Soi Diamond but I'm very interested in the Sun Xclusive. I'm looking for the obvious questions one would ask here like how joiner Friendly are they and any other tidbits like breakfast etc.

    Thanks Rob.

Baht bus should always be 10 baht if you are going to walking street or as far as soi 1. There are stories of drivers possibly charging 20 baht if you go to naklua. Never ask a moving baht bus driver how much. Just hand him 10 baht as you get off.

I recall looking at hotel zing when I was looking for a hotel near jomtien for a few days but I passed on it because I came across some sites implying it was a gay hotel. Did you notice that?

    Grand Hotel

No elevator! I was in room 104 so I used the stairs right at the reception area!

On the first night at about 11 pm I had 2 girls ST both dropped in IDs and got clean towels. At 1 am 2 more girls ST same process.

On night 2 I bought back 3 girls and all 3 checked their IDs and 3 clean towels. No walking past or sneaking. No Charges.

    Thanks.

Night 2 3 girls back to room and no problems. It is noisy but I wasn't there to sleep. Clean towels available at reception. Staff not really friendly but again does not worry me.

    Grand Hotel and Mgallery Baraquda

    Hi guys.

    Feed back on both Hotels.

Grand Hotel 2 nights. Cheap and close to Walking Street. Probably overpriced at 960 per night. Crap rooms, beds on rollers so constant movement, hot buffet breakfast cooked night before and stone cold at breakfast time. Very girl friendly on night one 2 x 2 girls and no problems. Night 2 3 girls back to room and no problems. It is noisy but I wasn't there to sleep. Clean towels available at reception. Staff not really friendly but again does not worry me.

Mgallery. 3000 per night by 3 nights. On second road opposite Soi 13/2. Good location. Great rooms with comfortable bed. Good buffet breakfast. Good reception staff and good house keeping staff. Very girl friendly night 2 I took 4 girls back and no worries, I knew 3 of the girls and we didn't offer ID cards and they didn't ask.

Next time I will stay at the Mgalley again and I will probabky stay away from Walking Street Hotels all together.

Hotel Review: Hotel Zing, 17th-19th May.

My trip to Pattaya was with a friend, and what we ideally wanted was a place with 2 private bedrooms- so that we could still hang out in the same room and retreat to privacy when required. But we also wanted a proper hotel, a place that would check girls' IDs, so we did not consider Airbnb-type condos and apartments. And we also wanted something in budget. I couldn't find something that ticked all these boxes, but I did find the 'Penthouse Suite Poolside Room' at Hotel Zing for 1000 Baht per room per night. We took 2 rooms, one for each.

If I now look at the Hotel Zing room listings on the site I booked on, it no longer claims to have a 'Penthouse Suite Poolside Room' but at the time I made the booking it did make this claim. I'the tell you I research my hotels well and look at lots of photos and reviews, but I guess I'the be wrong because the 'Penthouse Suite' was no real suite at all. It was a basic room with an attached bathroom. In the current listing the hotel now calls this room the 'Super Deluxe Pool View Room. ' Still, the room was clean and had a fridge and TV, and it was right next to the rooftop pool- which came in handy if you read my reports in the Pattaya forum. So despite not getting a Penthouse Suite as we expected, my friend and I did not mind this place given the pool and price.

You also need to understand the hotel location well, for it explains the low price for the rooms. It's on Thappraya Road, far enough from Walking Street that though you may make the walk on a cool evening, on most days you'll need a vehicle. The tuk-tuk will charge you 20 Baht but that's when it's got passengers already and making a lot of stops- this is rare on Thappraya Road. So you're more likely to pay 50-100 Baht for an empty tuk-tuk just taking you to Walking Street. Cabs between these locations will charge 200 Baht, or at least at night.

If you're coming to Pattaya directly from Suvarnabhumi airport and book this hotel, get off at the last stop which is on Thappraya Road. If you don't have much luggage you can walk to the hotel. Do not count on the hotel breakfast at all, seriously. And of course- it's girl friendly. On our checkout day we had to checkout by noon, but we finally did at 7 PM and paid 1000 Baht extra for that. Thappraya Road and the area around the hotel is dead at night, no action. But there's a 7/11 right next to the hotel which is extremely handy and probably to blame for the amount of pints we gulped down during our stay.

Yep. Me, too. I only use ATMs that are attached to bank branches, so that there is someone at the bank to help me if there is a problem. I've used these ATMs more than a hundred times and never been asked to select a currency conversion, and I've never had a problem.

On a 300 euro withdrawal it could easily be 10 euro difference.
