I am talking about all of the banks like SCB, Kasikorn, etc, that exchange cash, like you will find just after immigration and before customs. And also outside of arrivals and throughout the terminal. These all have lower rates than their exact same exchange booths that you will find in Pattaya.

I once took out 300 Euros at the Frankfurt airport then another 300 at an ATM in a small town 30 kms away and the rate was the same.

I'm curious if Big fat besty just hit it on a good day because I always have been told to wait until Pattaya or Bkk exchange due to bad rates at airport.

A "good day" it has nothing to do with higher rate at exchange booths at Suvarnabhumi Airport Floor B. Superrich, SuperRich 1965, Value+, etc always have a very good exchange rate and you can check their rate on their website. It's already some years that these exchange booth at Floor B operating with a very good rate.

Just check the website now: Value+ Siam Paragon branch exchange 37,10 for euro, Value+ Suvarnabhumi branch 37,15 for euro, Vasu Exchange Sukhumvit Road 37,15 for euro. These are the exact rate that you will find on the ground.

I am considering Areca or LK Empress for my upcoming trip in Feb. Which one would be better. How about their guest policies. I read quite a lot on LK, but don't see any new one on Areca here.

No complaints about either. Slight edge to LK Empress. Rooms there are nicer, and I recall slightly preferring the breakfast. Rooms at Areca are clean but very basic. I'd weigh the choice mostly on LK Empress being easier to get back and forth to walking street, versus Areca being in an otherwise more interesting area (lots more bars, restaurants, street food, massage places, and everything else around Soi Diana and adjacent streets). The side entrance makes LK more discreet when returning with guests.

Big fat Besty on YouTube just did a video on this a month or so ago. It's been said the ground level money exchange rates are just as good or better. I believe he showed they had better rates on ground level vs tt in Pattaya.

I usually have taxi take me to super rich in Ratchamadri Bkk. I was setting up my pick up over the weekend and she stated super rich in Ratchamadri closes for a few days at end of the year. She stated super rich on ground level has same rate and lady taxi driver will take me to it. I will report back on my findings. No. It has been written several times, if you need to exchange at the airport just go down to Floor B next to the ticket machine for airport rail link, there are 5/6 exchange boots Superrich Thailand, Super Rich 1965, Value+, etc with very good rate, same rate that you can find in town. Opening time varies from bank to bank 5:30/6:00am till 10/11:30pm

Question: I will be staying again at the Sandy Spring Hotel in February, but this time instead of heading to Pattaya after a few days in Bangkok (where I have always changed my currency on Suk near Soi 11) I will be schlepping to Pattaya directly from the BKK airport. Since I have never had to use a cambio in Pattaya before, I never paid any attention to where they might be, and which have good rates, etc. Or will it be better to do the baht in the Poom after arrival (may not be open at 1 AM though.).

Try to get an ATM card at an investment place such as Fidelity or Schwab. They will give you a better exchange rate and will reimburse all ATM fees. The airport has many ATMs inside, if I recall, they are 1 or 2 floors above the exit where you catch a taxi. Open 24/7.

TT money exchange with the yellow signs is generally close to or the best rates. They are all over the city. Best not to use the ones nearest a high traffic tourist area like walking street.

If you're arriving at 1 am change what you may need on your first night before traveling. Taxi, girl, barfine, drinks, food, 711, etc.

Yes, the noise from the beer bars at the corner of Second Road and Soi 10 is terrible.
How about Sea Me Spring Too at the other more quiet end of Soi 10? It's in the same price range and gets good reviews.

I might do that, there are 3 Sea Me Spring hotels in that Soi so I'll check each one out, Sea Me Spring Tree is said to be the newest.
