Posts: 202I finally booked at Hotel Amistad, I heard they also have cable connection in all rooms with reliable service, that is even better than WiFi for me. No need to worry about signal strength. Will write a feedback later.
I just need to sort out the 4 days beach trip plan. I posted on Quepos thread form some info.

Hi, I recently stayed two nights at the Presendente (sorry about the spelling) it is about two blocks from del Ray, they have a dress code for anybody you bring back, but provided the girls are respectable that is to say boobs covered and not short skirts there is no problem. The hotel has good wifi, I could not get my iPad to work but mac did, I sometimes have this problem, there are also computers in reception you can use. I had a junior suite which was large and very nice. If you are expensing the hotel this would count as a business hotel where you could bring suitably dressed entertainment. I had no problem and saw a couple of other invited ladies for breakfast, which was good by the way. So it's not ideal if you are there to monger but ideal if you are on expenses and want to be close to Del Ray. Hope that helps, I have read other reports that say you can't take girls back, this was not he case when I was there provided the dress code is observed, which, frankly was fair enough.

Posts: 202Internet connection reliability
i'll be staying a few days in san jose early jan 12, first visit. from what i've read the best places to stay is near the ground zero (del ray) in one of chica friendly hotels.
so the usual suspect really, sl, hlh, la amistad, dunn inn, castillo, morazon, hemmingway inn etc. now i read about all their pros and cons on various forums, but what other important thing for me is reliable, descent speed internet connection (wifi or cable, not important).
i need to do a few hours of work on occasions and connect to the office, so in your personal experience which one of these have a good internet connection for this purpose?
(btw, are there any quite cafe / bar i can go in emergency to use their free wifi? (don't even mind paying a bit or buying something for a good connection.)
cheers,

When I get back I will post reiews as I would like to contribute to the forum as much as I consume info.

I'm making my 1st rip to San Jose this month and I'm looking for a decent hotel. Sportsmen's Lodge is booked. So I'm thinking about just staying at the Del Rey hotel. I haven't read much on here about it other than people using it for a short time place. I called and its only about $56 a night for a single room or $94 for a deluxe room.
I'm assuming the Del Rey is chica friendly, correct?
Are the rooms nice?
(the reason I'm wondering is because there is not much talk about it aside from short time use).
Thanks, Pipe
