Posts: 26Nice chica friendly hotel: Hotel Vesuvio
I was staying at the sleep inn. They made me pay $40 to take a chica to my room. I finally found a place hotel vesuvio. It is next to the sportsman lodge. I paid $35, had the room for 12 hours. The rooms were clean and nice.
Most of all the staff spoke perfect english. In fact for all night the room is $45 what a bargin. Beats the hell out of staying at sleeping $129 plus $40 chica fee every time I take a girl.
This place is $2 cab ride from the del ray and from sportsman I always walk 30 metters.
Anyway I hope this helps. Infact they have a toll free number 800-571-2933. I just booked a room today for 3 nights in August.

If I tell a local that I am staying at the Amistad will they put two and two together? Would like to stay there on either end of a business trip but don't want to tip the local.

Can someone advise if the Crowne Plaza Corobici is girl-friendly? It can currently be booked at a great rate, or even better using Priority Club points. Thank you.

Posts: 65Don Carlos and la Sabana
I was walking around one day and stopped by Don Carlos. I just asked the guy (at the desk) could he show me around. I went back and snapped a few pictures of some rooms that were open.
I asked him, "are you guys okay if I want to have a guest over"? He responded, "we don't allow local girls". That was enough for me because they wouldn't suit my purposes at all. If you're mainly a massage bar person, this could be up your alley. Not recommending, just sharing info.
I didn't stay at la sabana, but I did stop in. Did the ole, can you show me around. It was very nice. Couldn't get any pictures. I will admit its a bit father away from gulch action. If you get a rental (like I did for a few days) its not a Problem.

I am typing now from the Amistad. Just arrived so I cant confirm the chica friendliness yet. Got the 119$ penthouse, with sauna and jacuzzi. It is not an Hilton in terms of luxury, but the suite is very big modern clean and cosy. First time in CR so not sure what 119$ can get you elsewhere, I can certainly reccomend this one.

Posts: 380I'd avoid the Presidente altogether if you plan on bringing chicas back to your room. Have heard too many stories recently about their BS dress code being both subjectively and strictly applied, about their staff being rude to both the chicas AND their gringo guests. They flat out don't want the business of us mongers. I say, "screw 'em!"
I'd try the Amistad or the Sportsmens Lodge (likely booked but worth a try).Last edited by Mr Jetsetter; 05-18-09 at 08:26. Reason: An alternate recommendation

(oops I originally posted this in general questions. My bad)
I have the opportunity to go to Costa Rica in July. Unfortunately it is a business trip. But I might be able to add a day or two on either side of the trip for a little fun. I just need to eventually meet up with some people at the Buena Vista Hotel in San Jose or back at the airport.
I am traveling with some gear that I need to keep secure. So if I have an extra day or two on either end, is there a place that I can stay that is reasonably secure and close to where I can have a little fun?
I am not opposed to a package deal or paying for a little help. (I have seen some mention of mentors so I will follow that lead but still need help on hotel)
Thanks.
P.S. Have posted my experiences in Germany last Fall, so I have been contributing a bit.

hey guys,
thought i had the two rooms for my partner and i booked at the presidente. just got an e-mail confirmation saying we had the rooms but at $130 us a night plus they have no large beds. we are in rooms with 2 twins. this will not work as my travel partner is a big man and will not fit in a twin, much less fit in a twin with a lady.
any suggestions for an upscale place on short notice. i am looking for a chica friendly place with good a/c, upscale, (no dumps) that is chica friendly. the sportsman is booked. a speedy response is appreciated since i leave in less than 16 days.
thanks

Stayed at the suite2 in Hotel Freebird. Nice place for the price. A little bit noisy tho. 2 blocks away from the Del Rey. Very nice owners who even took me for a tour of the hot spots. If you're new, they'll be happy to answers all your questions.
