Below is Ohana--actual name is Jacqueline. She is doing movies now and has some rich italian boyfriend. This is a story how a sweet nice girl can become a hardcore spoiled pro. I met her through a mutual friend and she was the sweetest thing--never paid more than R150 with her and sometimes she left without taking any money. Over the years she purchased her own car(or someone bought it for her) built a house in Cabo Frio--etc. Ohana as she was known in 4x4 always had rich clients--in fact every friday she was always occupied as this guy would hire her for about 6 hours in the largest suite. Back then she was polite, sweet and gave great performances in bed. We developed a very good friendship over the years and she tried to get me to go to cabo with me declining as I didnt want to be in her car--at her house, in Cabo--in retrospect that was prob stupid on my part but I had many other options--being stuck in situation I couldnt control and with one girl for an entire weekend in Cabo--was not my thing.

Ohana--who was orignally quite shy and reserved(never set foot in help/MP) started doing photos for internet sites--then moved on to american pornos. Thats when I noticed a change..suddenly she would not spend the night any longer--and the R150 was no longer an "option"..basically she would stop by early evenings for a few hours and leave. She told me about her new boyfriend how he spent loads of money on her and took her to Italy. Just as an endorsement, I know this agency, the woman I have dealt with before her name is Margareth and she is very reputable, she speaks perfect English too and I just checked out her site and she has plenty of apartments and I would bet that since most of them are spread all over they probably go for a good price, make sure you tell her it is for a month as I believe you should get a better price for a longer stay.

I always take a month off during the summer months to escape the heat in Phoenix. I've been to a fair amount of South America, but wanted to do Brazil this year.

I usually stay in an apartment in a destination whenever I go for a week or more. I am however, looking to spend more on chicas than on the apartment. I've always been able to find a good apartment for $400-$600 a month in my journeys.

So far, in contacting Kenn, I was only offered a $1000 apartment, and no response back after weeks when I asked about less expensive places. Ronny was helpful in a recommendation, but after a couple of calls, I haven't gotten any response from that person either.

I'm a couple of months away from my trip, but before I spend the money on the visa, I wanted to find a place. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd be appreciative.

Basic requirements: good firm bed, not too noisy, electricity, bathroom, in a safe enough area close enough to the action.

Would like: TV with cable, microwave, phone.

I'm flying on a reward ticket, so I can change or cancel it with no problem. However, I think I'd really like Brazil and from the current conversations about the falling dollar, I should probably go while I can still afford it.

Yes Mabs is not what it used to be. But I think you can still meet a few gems there. Given that Meia Pataca is flooded with gringos I think Mabs is the place to be again.

And lets take a second to critique your writing style. Do you realise how painful your prose is to read? You ramble, digress, and change subjects mid-paragraph. Then you turn around and start a new paragraph in the middle of an idea. Your use of simple and simple-compound sentences with nary a complex clause makes for a reading experience as smooth as a Humvee with bad shocks driving down a dirt road. At the risk of sound culturally insensitive, dare I ask if English is your first language?

And worst of all, your posts contain NO NEW OR INTERESTING INFORMATION. Half the guys here have either lived or are living in Brazil. Your newbie observations about the Rio sex scene and Brazilian life in general are about as enlightening as the disclaimer on the back of a credit card application. Nothing you have said is news to anyone who has spent more than an afternoon in Brazil.

That bust is one reason I never travel with others. I am always alone or with a garota. Not to say that this is the reason for the bust but, when I am abroad, I always operate alone. I was sitting at across the street Mab's on the beach side at the table and I could hear these guys speaking english form across the street. It was late and it was dark and these guys were loud.

Same thing at the Rodoviaria Novo Onibus Station. The guys were getting on the bus speaking loud in English and this bus was headed 40mins outside of Rio before it was to make its first stop. Someone could have placed a call to have the onibus intercepted at its first stop, and collected some cash from the passengers. Where there are tourist there is money.

Most of these guys do just the opposite they pack they table with garotas.

There is one particular garota that has is aggressive. She speaks a little English and she has a very deep scratchy voice.

She wanted to know why I was sitting a the table, inviting girls to come over and not making any propositions.

I told her I was interviewing the girls. She got very upset and accused me of wasting these girls time and that I was CHEAP. She was very loud, very.

During my research in RIO in MAY. 4 of the guys I interviewed also said they were stopped at random and was asked for their documents. One guy said he was standing on the corner on the opposite side of the beach and 1 officer asked where is your documents and he had only, photo copies.

He said he was told to pay a fine now or follow the officer back to that station in front of COPA HOTEL. He said he paid all he had which was R$43 and some change that was in his front pocket.

The other two guys where in LAPA trying to find a party, when a JEEP of MILITIA guys told them to STOP.

3 police exited the jeep and asked for documents. They did not have their documents not even their passports.

So one guy offers the police R$20. The police accepted and the guys thought this was over but the other police want R$20 also.

So all the police in the Jeep were paid. The driver included.

The other two guys paid police in the area near MAB's.

I have seen this myself. I have seen this first hand.

This is particularly prevalent in Fortaleza. There is a culture of shake downs on the beach and in some busy bars that tourist frequent. The garotas also participate.

It could be just a couple of bad police but it does exist enough to be noticeable.

I do not think it would be helpful to report these guys either.
