I just got back from Rio too. 10 days in Rio 10 nights in Help. Everynight I pulled out a real good one except once. She was so beautiful at 19 but blew it when she asked for the money up front, I told her she had to leave now and sent her back to Help.

Help does not give a premium anymore for exchange, the best is cash at a regular cambio not even those jewelry stores across from bobby's store.

Usually if I like a girl I talk to her for about 10 minutes for her to get to know me, an exchange of info about who we are and some jokes mixed in, then I ask for the number, if its not my number then i tell her that I never pay more than my number then usually they say something like because your so funny Ill do it for that price. I made so many new friends there mostly African Americans, everyone is there to have fun, its all good and everyone has a different taste in women most of the time we don't conflict, there are plenty to go around. For the most part I don't like the girls in Meia Pataca there not my style but I did manage to pull one from there for an afternooner 19 and nice. I'll just chime in here in agreement with the others. Anyone reading this board is way ahead of the game just by the knowledge provided here. I can't imagine the thousands of unsuspecting mongers who hit Rio with no understanding of the game and get sucked in to every scam these girls pull on them. I'm sure the girls are used to getting over quite easily on the non-educated mongers who make up the vast majority of their prey.

As Double said, they have hundreds of encounters with us which allows them, like a virus that has mutated and evolved, to perfect their craft to their advantage. The good ones, like experienced jazz musicians, can riff off of any situation we present them and cleverly weave around us.

I'm not saying these girls aren't fun or that there aren't at times real emotions involved, but I would say most of them, by nature of the fact that they have forgone what the majority of the women are doing to earn a living(earning their money the hard way at stores and meager jobs) are ultimately mercenary and self serving at heart. They've chosen the easy buck, and by definition their nature is to play the gringo for what they can get.

I have learned to see it as a game and therefore I don't take it personally. You can be great friends with your oppononent in a game of tennis but still be out to destroy him on the court. I think the girls respect the fact that you are savvy in the same way you respect a worthy opponent on the court as long as you do not insult them and get emotional or mean in the process. And most of the time, there's not need to. What are we talking in real world dollars if you get taken? Usually less than you blow in one night in the states on a date with a non pro.

I will negotiote with complements. If she askes for R400 I say (in my own awkward Portuguese), "Is that all? Surely you are worth R600! If I was a rich man I would give you that and more, but I can only offer R200. Ipanema and Flamengo are both good choices.

You would need to check out some other neighbourhoods in Rio to give yourself an overview of the real Brazil. The reality is different for different social classes.

That is why I try to hang loose, and I try to avoid getting attached. I just came back from Rio, Foz do Iguazu, and Buzios trip of 10 days. It was my second and I do not think I will be taking another trip to Brazil in near future. Compared to last year's trip, it was a bust and a lot more expensive thanks to Real's strength and Dubya's (W) down-the-drain economic policies. I got the rates anywhere from 2.20 (Airport ATM) to 2.28 (at Foz cambio).

I stayed about 3 nights in Rio, 1 night in Foz, and 2 nights in Buzios. In all, I enjoyed Foz the most, Rio second, and Buzios none at all. I flew from SFO to Houston to Rio, went to 3rd floor at the Airport, withdrew R$600 from the ATM, took the Real bus (R$5), got dropped off at Help, walked to my apartment, slept for a while, and then walked to the beach and Help at night. Garotas are asking R$150-200 for 1 hour outside Help. Total hard-core fucked up attitude. I did not come for this flying 16 hours. So, I took few numbers from Garotas, went inside Help, enjoyed dancing etc., went to apt. alone. Was tired after long flight, so slept till 2 pm. Went to beach, ate, walked, kind of relaxed. Met another girl near my apartment, made an appointment for night date. Again walked to beach, relaxed, sat at Meia Pataca, listened to others, and enjoyed the hustle and bustle.

Almost everyone was complaining about R$ strength and garotas' inflated prices. Met a garota (calls herself Lecticia), liked her smile for some reason, and promised to see her later. Went to apartment to meet the date. No show. Pissed, went for a walk and dinner. Met two garotas insisting for Dupla. Negotiated R$100 for one hour for both. On beauty scale 5.5/10. Attitude 6/10. Talked for a long time. Made my plan to see Foz. Also, wanted to see the countryside, so decided to take a bus. Went to apt. Dupla girls from last night showed up as promised. How could I refuse. Bus stops at rest areas every 3-4 hours, where you can eat, drink and refresh. I enjoyed the experience, but would not do it again. Also, I saw real country, ranches, jungles and small towns, which was important for me.

Foz was great in all respects. After talking to some Danish guys, decided to see the Argentina side first day, and Brazil side next day. Took a bus to centro, another bus to Argentina side bus station, then another AR bus to National Park. Total fucked up operation by both countries. Argentina side takes about 6-7 hours. 30 Pesos entrance fee, safari and motor boat tour to touch the falls was another Peso 80. Enjoyed the falls. Can not complain about the park. Came back to Foz centro. Since the President of AR showed up the same day, all the roads were blocked for hours. AR immigration stamped the passport both times. Brazil side did not even stop the Bus. One interesting thing--every one was made to walk on a piece of bleach soaked foam right after immigration. The bus also had to drive through a man-made pond of bleach water. They told me that these are the precautions to prevent the spread of mad cow desease.

Anyway, took a nice hotel DANY on Ave. Brasil for R$90/night for dupla room. In Brasil, if you book Dupla room, they can not stop garota coming in, since you paid for double occupancy. I have not found any exception to this rule as of yet. I confirmed with a nice looking receptionist. She said, no problem for GDP. After shower, went for a walk. It was hot as hell at 7 pm, so stayed at the outdoor cafes, and drank 12 succos in 4 hours while enjoying a local band. Met a couple of SWs on Ave. Brasil. Took a bus to centro, another bus to Argentina side bus station, then another AR bus to National Park. Total fucked up operation by both countries. Argentina side takes about 6-7 hours. 30 Pesos entrance fee, safari and motor boat tour to touch the falls was another Peso 80. Enjoyed the falls. Can not complain about the park. Came back to Foz centro. Since the President of AR showed up the same day, all the roads were blocked for hours. AR immigration stamped the passport both times. Brazil side did not even stop the Bus. One interesting thing--every one was made to walk on a piece of bleach soaked foam right after immigration. The bus also had to drive through a man-made pond of bleach water. They told me that these are the precautions to prevent the spread of mad cow desease.
