    Help II

Yes Help opened up in the mid 80's , something like between 1982 to 1984. I was going to Rio regularly then and some friends of mine told me to check out this new disco that opened up on Ave Atlantica called Help. I went there with a buddy of mine one night, we spent an hour in there and my friend said to me "Lets get out of here there's nothing but straight chicks in this place" I agreed, we left and I never went back until 1997 when I resumed my Rio trips and was fascinated by Help's transformation.

As I said before at that time there were the boites in the Lido section including Barabrellas but it was in a different location then, the termas were going on and many Cafe's along ave atlantica were stocked with GDP's unlike today where it has boiled down to just a few.

But from what I understand even if the current building of Help is closed the owners are looking for another space, so i guess we will be going to Help II someday but I suspect that it just won't be the same.

Actually all the things that everybody here says bad about it is true but I always have a great time there.

    Help! I Will Miss You!

There's a lot of Help bashing. On the one hand, I undstand that, on the other, I still find it a wonderful guilty pleasure. Yes, the Termas are incredible, and can't be beat for quality, but the illusion of Help is what makes it so fun.

I've made efforts in Rio to do the non-pro thing and hit the normal clubs. It takes a tremendous amount of energy, just like in the states, and in addition, there's a general bias against Americans because of general dislike of Bush and because of the rep of being mongers, plus the language barrier. I can get by a bit in Portuguese, enough to get through a dinner with some help from my pocket translator -as long as I can keep the conversation guided around the topics where I know the most words . But in the end unless the girl is a total knockout and wonderful person, its not worth it to me do deal with all the hassles of having a girlfriend thousands of miles away who can't get into our country very easily.

So in the end, you might end up with digits from a girl who may be cute but no better than the 3 girls in the Termas you could have f--ked every which way in the same amount of time it took to get her.

Help is like the Fantasy Island of clubs. Its like Willie Wonka's chocolate manufacturing room where EVERYTHING is edible. It looks like a club, it sounds like a club, but for that night, you can be king, you can get the girl. I'm sorry, but for all the bitching everyone does, I love that!

I have spent entire days in a Termas only to head on over to Help to cap off the evening. I love the excitement, the thrill of seeing so many working girls in one place (inside and outside) the anticipation of finding that diamond in the rough or that one girl you looked at the night before only to see another guy grab her before you -and tonight you're going to make her your own. I enjoy the mini dramas that occur, the little romances, the jealousy when you've been hanging with one girl and now you want her best friend and after everyone talks about it and cools down it becomes a threesome. I like knowing that I can take any girl home that night to be my bedside companion and laugh, screw, drink, laugh, screw, sleep, screw.....life gets a lot worse than that!

Yes, at times it can seem like a skank pit, I won't argue that, and I do tend to like the 8+ types so there can be slim pickins, but you only need 1 per night, and out of 200+ girls I can almost always find that 1.

I enjoy having a bite to eat and a drink right outside the Help around 11:45 as the girls gather and file in. The girl you only noticed in passing the other nights has really done herself up and suddenly you see what a great ass, or wonderful legs or stomach she has and your heart starts racing as you mark your target.

And now let me stir some real controversy. I prefer Help to Barbarellas! Why? Here's my top ten list:

-1. BB is way too darn dark! You can barely see the girl you're talking to. How do you even know what your getting without a flashlight (mental note, bring flashlight next time).

-2. The girls are way more stuck up and want far too much money. Even the mediocre girls at BB act like complete prima donnas. Who needs that!

-3. To me its full of mega tourists spending mega money -sitting at those tables ordering bottle after bottle of overpriced liquer while the girls egg them on (Ok, Help can be like that too but somehow because its more spread out, its not as annoying).

-4. The entrance, drink and exit fees are ridiculous.

-5. The same girls can be had at Help for less. I went with a girl out of Help one night who normally worked BB. We negotiated R250. She told me during our post sex bedroom chat that she would have charged me R400 if I had met her at BB and not negotiated because that's the norm there.

-6. Going on the -you only need 1 girl per night- theory, I can almost always find my hottie in Help who will look just as good as the hottie in BB I would have found and paid more and had to deal with more attitude.

-7. BB has this feeling like a big American strip club -come in, pay the fee, lots of staff watching you, get your required drinks, everything by the book, tension, structure, yuk.

-8. BB is in such a horrible area! I have to wipe off the slime after walking around there. Help may not be Ipanema, but at least it's near the beach and around some nicer hotels so its not a complete slimepit. Actually, if you've ever been out on the terrace at Help its very nice -the ocean view, the lights etc.

-9. I like the music better in Help and its not as loud.

-10. Help has atmosphere. I've been in hip clubs in major US cities that were no better and in some cases worse than Help. BB is a bunch of tables jammed together and an ugly stage. Help has so many little areas you can hang just on the main floor alone, not to mention the upstairs, second room, terrace and multiple bars. The variety keeps it interesting and stimulating. There's always another nook to explore for girls or to take the girl you're flirting with.

Ok, that's my ode to Help! Its not perfect, but much like an old shoe, I will miss it.

Who said anything about danger? I just want somebody to drink a beer with and help me avoid wasting time!

Now, if YOU were there, you could drive and drink your water AND go on stage with the girls AGAIN...

How long/ how much is the ride/taxi fare from Impanema to VM?

Ah, it's not that dangerous. I'd just take a taxi in and out, and don't bring a lot of valuables with you.

Captain, some mongers just cant get used to the idea of sharing, they honestly believe that they are somehow entitled to all that the world has to offer. I have seen it on every single monger board that I have been a member of. Sometimes its so racist, that you cant do anything but laugh. I will give you an example of what I am talking about.

    1) Cuba - Ever notice how some mongers will complain about the Italians over running Cuba. CUBA! We as Americans are not even supposed to be going there and yet, they have the nerve to complain about the number of Italians on the island.

    2) Thailand- (This I find especially hilarious.) "Certain" mongers will have the audacity to get upset, that there are Japanese mongers in Thailand! I told one guy "Dude, you not even asian. Where do you get the balls to be upset that Japanese men are visting another asian country?!"

    3) Rio - Now its finally come to Rio. Now they are upset that Black Americans are now patronising Brasil. Imagine them getting upset that a person of color is visting a country like Brasil, that is FULL of people of color!!

    4) Just to show you how crazy it can be, check some of the prior posts on Rio. You will see guys actually complain about the number of Brasilians in some of the termas! Now if thats not outrageous, I dont know what is! You travel to brasil and complain about the large amount of braislians in an brasilian establishment?

Sometimes its just mindboggling. You just reach a point where you dont even try to understand the logic behind the lunacy, you just have to ignore it.

    American Sensitivity

    Booya, Omarosa is here

Due to the America past history, Americans are extreme sensitive about race. For people from outside U.S., it is difficult to understand.

Let’s change the writing a litter

“-- The crowd has changed. Mea Pataca now is simply overwhelmed by Japanese Americans. Guys, I have absolutely no problem with Japanese, but the fact is that they completely monopolize an area because they all stay together. If there were 30 Japanese guys in Rio, all 30 of them were at MP at the same time. “

“what? People have a problem with Japanese in Brazil? How shocking!”

I heard Italians are packing in Barbarela now. They pay big bucks and totally ruin my game plan.

I saw this Germany tourist group in Centaurs. They totally took every girl I want to fuck away. I pissed.

And, what’s up with all of Chinese business people in Help? They take a corner and spent a load of money for nothing.

I think that I will be kicked out this forum after I offend so many different ethnic groups and nationalities.

More info about the fight at Barbarela Boite

The fight erupted between a certain Joe from San Francisco and a ‘dog’ crew from New York.

To those who don’t Joe, he is a fast-talking, young slick attractive guy who likes to party all the time. He got the money and attitude for it. He is always in Rio during the holidays.

On the other hand you got these three dogs from New York, with their disfigured bodies (short, extremely fat and few muscles). And a peanut for a brain. They probably never got laid in their lives.

On Saturday, my friend and I arrived in Barbarella at midnight. For the two hours that followed, Joe was dancing on the floor, drinking, shouting, screaming, and driving the girls crazy. But that is what Joe does.

Around 2 am, there was some pushing between Joe and one of the New York crew (for reason I don’t know why). Joe did the Correct way by backing away and moving to the other side of the dance floor.

From nowhere, this 5-5 , 300 lbs dog come from behind and punch Joe on his head. Joes was left unconscious for over 2 minutes when he was finally resuscitated.

Needless to say, the NY crew left like chicken before the situation got out of hand.

The whole incident ruined the atmosphere.

I've become rather intimate with L'Uomo's, but would consider shelling out the additional money for MonteCarlo or Solarium. Centauras? You're on your own, there.

Anyway, as I posted on the SP board, I'll buy the first Skol on the beach.

I'll meet you on the beach Friday or Saturday for a beer.

    Buledaddy,

You are certainly not the first person trying to incite racial antagonisms on this board, and you certainly won't be the last. Maybe you should take a clue from your fellow 'brutha,' Rodney King, who said "can't we all just get along?" So I'm not even going to lend credence to your racially tinged remarks by getting into the gutter with you.

I will point out, however, that the fact that you spend time 'negotiating' at Help! speaks volumes about the level of your taste. As I have said many times on this forum, Help! is strictly for newbies. Most of the women there are skanks, as they are at Meia Pataca as well. For quality, go to the downtown termas where the brasileiros go, where you'll find both high quality 'booty' and a blessed absence of gringo mongers. So stick to your Colt 45 malt liquor, bro; I prefer to partake of champagne.

I don't suspect that he's wrong (I think he may be correct). However, I think that over the next year, a turn will begin in favor of the dollar worldwide.

That's a good look Sal. Thanks for the heads up. I hope this continues well into my Fev. trip.

LOL! and to think Lucio predicted a R$2.11 exchange by Jan 1.

    Keldeson

That is still my prediction from looking at all the market indicators.
If LULA escapes scandals and evokes confidence from investors, the $R could strengthen.

I am still betting it will. Presently the rate is $R2.20, so I have .09 basis points to go in 33 more days.

I'm watching the performance of different currencies daily.
I'll check once I arrive on the ground.

I'll carry the H2O bucket 4 the forum
    Enjoy

    Apartment

    Guys,

I am going to be visiting Rio a few days after Christmas and would like to stay in an apartment in an area where I can mingle or at least be in contact with regular chics or get a sense of the real Brazil. Where would be a good location to stay at?

Ipanema or Flamengo or what? I would really like to avoid copa, if I can.
