First garota I ever picked up out of Help, negotiations took a half hour before heading to the sex-motel. My portuguese was crappy, so was her english, and she said I should decide what the price should be. I refused thinking she would try to upsell me later. I made her quote all I would get, and for how long, She said she reallllly liked me and quoted $150R.

Point is, this is a business negotiation. In the business world there are plenty of loopholes to bail out of a contract, at least ACT like you got all the bases covered, (pay AFTER!, how much, reals or dollars, how long, what for, etc.) If you arent clear enough, don't want to learn portuguese, etc. You leave a loophole for her to pull a technicality on you. Assure her that this is important that both of you go through this process so BOTH of you are happy with the agreed transaction.

I know it makes you lose your "momentum", but thats okay, you have more time to see if she starts copping a sassy attitude with you. And remember, you have HUNDREDS of other options. If you get ANY static, beg off, let her meet you on YOUR terms or move on. (dont make it too much work, just keep assuring her that this is so BOTH of you will be happy with the outcome.) most scammers wont stand for this scrutiny and head for an easier mark.

If you stay in an apt., you have lost your "back up" and leverage of her ID being held.

One suggestion I have, is get to know your apt. security guard well, grease his palm with some reals, and ask him to hold the ID of any garota you come with into the place, and not to give it back untill he calls your apt. and gets your approval.
A hotel is supposed to look out for its guests, but negotiationg your business tranactions are not in their job description (I hope you tipped them well!) Neither is it in the job description of your security. They are doing you a HUGE favor. If you didnt tip them, then I think you deserve to pay $200USD.

Brazilman, I stay in an apartment now all the time and I never have a problem with money from the garotas. Yes it is important to establish the business part up front then enjoy the product you just bought.

These girls may try to get away with something if they think your a schmo and they think they can, just be firm with them.

Also just for the record, I go to Rio strictly for Help and I always experience good times with these girls, I find them friendly, give top GFE, most leave their number and express that they want me to call and some ask if they can be exclusive with me and I laugh. Glad you all liked it. I'm pleased that many of you clearly read all of it; when I was making the first posts (e.g. the ones at the bottom) I was wondering how many readers would make it that far.

It is an honor to get kudos from Y&R, who was an inspiration for me on this trip and the best source of updated info. Y&R, I've seen debates about which is better, BA or Rio, and now that I have been to both I don't understand how anyone can think that BA should even be mentioned in the same sentence. So why does Argentina have a whole other site to itself?

Also I ate at Marius twice on your recommendation. I thought the seafood side was great, though it was expensive. I think it was nearly 100 fixed price just for the food; drinks and dessert were extra. I also went to the meat side, which is the best churrascaria I ate at, but several times more expensive than Porcao or Carratao (sp?) (on V. de Piraja in Ipanema) and only a little better. But I don't get to Rio that often and even expensive is cheap, so I was happy with the recommendations.

Seeing that many of you have had the same experience as me with regular girls and Help girls makes me feel a little better about not doing as well as I would have liked, but makes me sad for my next visit. I definitely did less well at Help this time, but on my past visits I have had some similar experiences, so I'm not ready to say that there has been a big change. Also meeting a regular girl would be fun. I've had regular girlfriends in Russia on trips of only a few days--one of them I still exchange birthday and Christmas presents with three years later--so maybe I'll manage it in Rio one day. I have the same luck as you with Help girls, you have to go through 5 pains in the ass to meet one good one. Termas girls are always good. Also agree L'uomo is not the best selection right now, I guess these things move in waves.

I really enjoyed reading your report, for the newbies and rookies I think it would be a good idea to make sure if or when you go back to Rio that you make sure your hotel or apartment will allow you to bring up a girls (this will save you time and $$ for paying for another room by the hour).

In this way you will be in better control in the girl will be on your truf, (I always make sure the 1st night I speak or I order Pizza's for the night crew and tip them a few reals) this way if you by mistake pick up some crazy ***** out of club help and she start going nuts on you the front desk crew will have your back if the girl goes nuts and call the police etc.

Also, Just to make sure the girl you pick don't try to to run a game on you years ago when I 1st went to Rio I would have the girl write down the amount of $$ and time we agreed on (this way if she tells you 200 reals and then after you spent time with her (2-3 hours) she then say you and her agreed on $200.00 USA DOLLARS) I seen this happen all to many times.

I seen guys get con into paying girls $200.00 to $300.00 when girls 1st say it would cost them 200 reals, then she gets MAD and get her cellphone and call her police "boyfriend" and him in his buddies make a part time job out of taking $$$ off of scared gringos when their girlfriends call them (just think about it 3 or 4 times a week this add up $800.00 a week).

Here is how I met my girlfriend and other non-pros for what it is worth.

When I first came to Rio it was for a professional conference. I stayed at one of the better hotels that had contracted out with a limo service to provide guests transportation. Not speaking Portuguese at the time, I engaged the service of a driver/translator. He basically went with me everywhere. When I would see a girl I liked he would act as a go between. He had a nice car, professional appearance (coat/tie) and charming personality. Looking back, given the quality of the women I met, I feel it was a worthwhile investment.

BTW, my girlfriend was in a very good situation when I met her. She didn't need my money.

Here’s my take on it… If you have been mongering in Mexico and only in Mexico, odds are you will feel like you are in heaven if you make a trip to BsAs, but… if you have been mongering in Rio and you take a trip to BsAs, you might feel like you are mongering in Mexico. Again, I think it can be a great place, but you should go there before you go to Rio.

Right now I am currently planning my first trip to Colombia and look forward to seeing how it compares to Rio as well.

As far as non-pros go, I'm not really suprised at the lack of results you had. I personally think that it is easier to meet Brazilian women in bars than it is to meet American women, but scoring the first night is not really any easier IMHO. Most of the non-pro Brasileiras that I've scored with wanted to go out on at least one real date before they went off to bed with me. The ones that give it up on the same night are usually "piranhas" -- semi-pros who are looking for a free evening out and maybe a bit of shopping the next day (but they'll often take cash if you offer it).

I found that my non-pro hook ups increased enormously once I learned some Portuguese and was able to communicate that I was going to be around town for a few months. Most Brazilian girls are just like American girls in that they really would rather have a boyfriend than a one night stand. If you are going to only be in Brazil for a week it is a lot tougher to score with non-pros. (but not impossible by any means).

A non-pro garota is not going to give you much room to tomcat around after you stay with her, though. A Brasilera with a new namorado is like a 16 year old kid with a new car -- all she wants to do is drive you around town and show you off to all her friends! Personally, I love it, but then again I'm usually in Brazil long enough to make it with several girls and still spend plenty of time with each. Unless you don't plan on visiting Rio for a long while, I do not condone not paying a girl. After all, that is her job, but also for safety reasons as she will likely try to get someone after you and you don't want that headache. I have just returned from a satisfying week in Rio in which I had many exciting and pleasurable experiences. I hope you enjoy reading the following posts and that they help you to have as good a time as I did.

I love to come to Rio because it is the best place in the world that I have found for doing two girl sessions. In all of my visits to thermas on all my trips to Rio I have only found one girl who did not like to make love to another woman. Brazileiras and Cariocas in particular just seem more relaxed about this. Furthermore, in most of the thermas there is an economic incentive to take two girls, since in many places you pay separately for the girls and for the room, so a session with two girls costs significantly less than twice as much as a session with one girl. Unlike in many other places in the world there is no additional charge for girl-girl action. (In some thermas I almost had the impression that I would have had to pay extra to keep the girls apart.) In Germany, as a contrast, not only do you have to pay the full price for each girl, but you will have to pay extra for the girl-girl action, so taking two girls who will do each other may cost four times what one girl costs. In Amsterdam it might cost 6 or 8 times more to do two girls and they will probably fake the girl-girl action.

Picking two girls can be complicated. First both girls have to be available. It is necessary to verify that they both are willing to do bisexual action, which is usually just a formality, but more importantly you need to make sure that they are willing to have sex with each other, since spending time with two very bisexual girls who don’t get along with one another might not be not be a good experience. (I can’t really imagine what it would be like to be willing to suck another guy’s dick, but I can sort of imagine how much worse my attitude about it would be if I didn’t get along with the other guy.)

I prefer the girls to be similar. I’d rather not have a tall one and a short one, or a bony one and a thick one. It’s sexier for me when the girls have the same size and shape. Sometimes putting together a good match can be maddening, but I don’t get to Rio often, so I want it to get it right when I’m here.

Once two beauties that go well together have been identified it is necessary to proceed carefully. Bringing the girls together and discussing a possible session with both at once is risky because if they are together they will be reluctant to speak up if they don’t like each other. They will probably agree to go with you and you will never know exactly why you had such a lukewarm session. It’s best to pick one of the girls and speak to her alone first.

I usually start a conversation with a girl and at some point ask if she likes to make love to other girls. I usually make a point of referring to lovemaking rather than going to the room together just to rule out a misunderstanding where she will do ménages-a-trois but without any girl-girl action. I try to avoid jumping right in with this suggestion since I like to create a relaxed atmosphere and because if the girl senses that I am rushed she is likely grab the other girl and we all head straight to the room in a scripted and business like manner. I prefer to let the plan develop over time. A nice by product is that this results in time sitting together, talking, and kissing, which is nice in itself and which also makes for a better atmosphere in the room. (Be careful not to push this too far, however, and make the girl feel like you have already gotten your money’s worth before getting to the room). It also gives her time to discuss whether she has a friend that she especially likes doing it with (many do) or to speak up about what she really thinks about your choice for the third member of the team.

All the while that this conversation is taking place I usually have a second girl in mind who I continually monitor on radar. I am always aware that at any moment a fat dude can walk up to her, buy her a drink, and a carefully laid plan may be ruined. In Centaurus this will probably not be a problem since there are likely to be several viable alternatives for a second girl, but this can get tricky in some of the smaller thermas where contingency plans are limited. In some cases I tell the girl what has just happened and explain that I would like to wait until both she and the other girl are both available (subject to verification of bisexuality, compatibility, and so on, of course). What gets more difficult to maneuver is the situation where I have a couple of matched doubles in mind; e.g. two hot short slim blondes who I want to see together and two tall busty brunettes who would go well together. If I start speaking to one of the blondes and the other one gets approached by someone else it’s hard to tell the first one that I will get back to her later when her friend is available, but in the meantime I’m going to do the brunettes. Another tricky situation is when the girl says that she loves other women, but not the one I am interested in, and there are no good alternatives. Sometimes she will quickly take the lead and call her friends over and you can be put in the embarrassing position of rejecting several of her friends. If you are at a therma with a limited selection you need to be prepared to settle for going with the one girl and then perhaps leaving.

Quick thinking is sometimes required. She might have a friend who is not as hot as your preferred choice for number three, and it is necessary to quickly assess how unhappy she will be if you take your choice instead of hers and how that balances against her friend’s lesser looks. Most of the time if I sense that she is happy with my choice but would prefer her choice I go with my choice. If I sense that she is picking her friend more because she has problems with my choice than because she simply is better friends with her choice I will go with her choice.

It is especially important to make quick decisions if she calls another girl over to talk to you. I usually try to stop her from doing this until I have taken a look first, but sometimes I’m not quick enough. If you think you want this second girl you really need to decide quickly and show some enthusiasm. If you need to think about it for a couple of minutes and you mumble and try to decide while she is sitting there trying her best to be sexy don’t expect her to be enthusiastic about you in the room afterwards. If you can’t make up your mind quickly then you should probably say no. It’s better to realize you passed something good up than to get into a session and realize that one of the girls isn’t what you wanted. You can always go back, though you will have to do a bit of explaining about why you said no the first time.

Cim was a problem in threesomes. Not one of the girls in any of my threesomes let me do it. If either girl doesn’t like it the answer from both girls is likely to be no, and even if both girls would do it in private I think many will not want to admit to their friends that they do it. I only did a few one girl sessions and a couple of the girls from these sessions let me do it, so there was a clear difference.

I was a little sad to find that prices have risen since my last visit several years ago, but the increase has been moderate. I visited 4 thermas; 4x4, L’Uomo, Solarium, and Centaurus. Overall these places are still a great deal and the service is great.

Centaurus clearly has the best selection of girls, though Solarium was not far behind. Besides being a little more attractive and more numerous I found the girls in Centaurus to be more interesting than the girls in the other thermas. The ones I spoke with in Centaurus were all working to pay their university bills and were learning professions. None of the girls at any of the other thermas said they did anything besides have sex and hang out at home, sometimes taking care of their kids. I don’t mean to pass any judgment on them or suggest that they are lazy or lack initiative. I imagine many of them are poorer and have more constraints in their lives than the Centaurus girls do. But I felt more of a connection with the Centaurus girls. It was interesting to talk to them about Rio, Brazil, sex in different countries, etc ... It was a little hard to have a conversation with the other girls about anything other than how much fun love and sex are. One of the girls at Centaurus spoke a little dismissively of Solarium. She said that she has a friend who works there who says that all of the Solarium girls are poor and live in favelas (though I asked two of my favorites in Solarium where they lived and they said in an apartment in Copacabana). It seemed like Centaurus had a more middle class staff and I thought I connected with them a little better.

My experience in Centaurus was a little better than I expected given the reports here. I saw two pairs of girls here. I was a little rushed in my second session at the end of the night as the club was closing, but nothing that I would go so far as to call bad attitude. I found the attitude to be much better than on my last trip several years ago, which was not a good one for this club, and almost as good as on my first ever visits when I was wild about it (but I may have been more naïve then about what I should expect from a good club). The main drawback of Centaurus is that it is about 1/3 more expensive than the other thermas. Also the girls aren’t quite as attentive to you before and after the sessions, except that when the rooms are full you might get to sit for a very long time with one or two hotties, talking kissing, and rubbing. If you are a multimillionaire you probably want to spend most of your time here, though even a multimillionaire should try the other thermas and enjoy the extra personal attention that you get. Also the rooms are a little better in Centaurus. You get a decent sized bed with a little space around it, a sink, and some plants in the room. You feel a little less like you are in a sex factory.

Solarium was the winner this trip. I went there on 5 of my 8 days and had many mind-blowing doubles sessions. The selection of girls was much better than in 4x4 or L’Uomo and the attitude was the best I have seen anywhere. In a couple of sessions I thought that it might be fun to have a crowbar just to see if it would even be possible pry the girls apart from one another. There were maybe only half as many girls as in Centaurs, but the ratio of beautiful ones was about the same. Some of the pre-sessions sitting with the girls before going to the room were almost as good as the sessions themselves. I met a guy in Help who was in Rio for one of his periodic month long visits and he agreed with me about Solarium. He told me to forget Centaurus. When I returned home I met someone who had just been to Rio who also told me to go to Solarium.

4x4 seemed ok when I visited it on my first day, but I forgot about it once I visited Solarium. I’ve been to Rio several times before and never visited 4x4. Having heard good reports about it plus the fact that it is reportedly one of the less expensive clubs put it at the top of my list on the first day, but I was a little disappointed. I was particularly annoyed by their policy of charging you twice for the room if you take two girls at once. Also they said that the small rooms, which are the only ones available for 40 minutes, are too small for 3 people, so if you take 2 girls you are obliged to get a deluxe room (smaller than a suite) and pay for 60 minutes. These restrictions make this club particularly unattractive for doing threeways. The 60 minute sessions are not priced out of line with the 40 minute sessions at other clubs, so this seems like a good deal since you are getting 50 percent more time, but in the room is a shower which everyone uses at the start and the end of the session while the clock is ticking, so you have to deduct the time it takes for 6 showers from your hour and I think that leaves you with about 40 minutes anyway. I found the layout of the club with many rooms (3 locker rooms, 2 boites, many bathrooms) separated by long tunnels and many stairwells to be annoying and confusing. Finally the attitude wasn’t bad there, but it wasn’t great either.

I was especially disappointed with L’Uomo, mainly because of the selection of girls. There were more Mona Lisa’s with mustaches than in any other club. (A Mona Lisa with a mustache is a girl with a beautiful face and fantastic chest but whose butt is so big it has its own zip code; a great work of art ruined!) I was also bothered by the gauntlet of sales pitches that it was necessary to suffer. Every fatty in the place took a turn trying to seduce me and not taking no for an answer. The most bothersome moment is when they ask if you want to go to a room, you say “no” or “sorry, not now” and instead of hearing “ok, why don’t you come find me if you change your mind” or “ok, I’ll see you later” you get subjected to a long smiling stare followed by the girl moving closer to you and starting to stroke your arm, leg, etc ... Hey! Did you hear what I said? Finally, when it was clear that there was no hope, they would ask me to buy them a drink. I did one girl here and left.

Transportation could be a hassle. Cab fares to the downtown from Ipanema were in the 20s of reals and took a bit of time. The downtown places fill up with girls around rush hour, so the best time to arrive is the worst time to take a taxi. Solarium was much closer, but one day when I went during rush hour there was terrible traffic and it took about 75 minutes and 45 reals to get there (and 10 minutes and 10 reals to return late at night with no traffic). Centaurus is walking distance from much of Ipanema and Copa and L’Uome and Monte Carlo are a short cab ride if not walking distance, so these places have a big transportation advantage.
