    Bubba Boy,

Another great report as usual. Your reports, IMHO, are the standard by which other reports are measured. You should write a guidebook for mongers; maybe you already are and these reports are first drafts? Thanks for quoting me, BTW.

    Paul VJK,

Great report for a first timer. You must be a quick study.

Rio Bob is right; antibiotics will do nothing for a cold. They will probably be effective against diarrhea, unless it is a side effect of a viral infection. When I travel to the tropics, I usually bring a bottle of 500mg Cipro tabs. Remember if you start taking Cipro, you have to finish the whole bottle or it may make things worse. Also, I usually bring all the OTC meds I might need from home, especially Imodium, which I have never been able to find in Brazil. I find buying OTC meds in Brazil very frustrating, so I would prefer not to go through that.

At the risk of sounding like a cultural imperialist, I must say that I am a bit leery of Brazilian medicine in general. First of all, medical training in Brazil consists of only 6 years post-secondary education, as opposed to 8 years in the US, Canada, and Europe. Besides, I had a personal experience a few years ago that didn't leave me with a lot of confidence. I was at the Sambodromo during Carnaval and got very sick--vomited, felt feverish, sweating, etc. Fortunately, there was a doctor on site. He felt my forehead, listened to my heart and lungs, then proceeded to write me 3 prescriptions. I asked him somewhat incredulously if he wasn't going to take my temperature, since I was sure I had a fever. He said that he didn't need to take my temperature since he could tell from listening to my heart that I had a fever. Now I had never heard anything like this, so when I got back to the US I asked my doctor about this. He had a skeptical look on his face and said that yes, it was true that you can tell if someone has a fever by listening to the heart, but that it isn't good practice because you can't tell the degree or severity of the fever that way. He added that any competent physician would take a pulse, temperature, and blood pressure. I should also add that I went to a Brazilian dentist when a crown came off, and I was quite happy with his service. At least he had a good chairside manner. He just glued the crown back in place and charged me R$100. That was 2 years ago and the crown is still in place.

Every time I go to Brazil I get a bad case of the flu, seems just about every other Gringo that goes there also gets it and it really can knock the shit out of you. It is a good idea to OD on Vitamin C or better still get some flu shots before hitting Rio, your immune system may be weakened from the flight, general partying and lack of sleep. I have finally found a solution that works for me. As soon as I feel the affects of a cold come on I get stuck into the Antibiotics, the longer the symptoms go without treatment means longer recovery time and less sexo. The one that works for a bad case of the flu is Azitromicina Dildratada (generic name). It costs about R26 for 3 tablets (take 1 per day with food), is available without prescription from the local Drogaria of which there is one on every corner. They worked so well for me I stocked up on them and keep them in my travel bag. If you don't speak Porto, just write it down and take it to the farmacia, the back section not the cashiers, and they will get it for you.
Look I know you guys hate me already and Im sorry but having a cold will never ever ever be cured by taking an antibiotic. A cold is a result of a virus and antibiotic's do not kill virus's they kill bacterial infections.

You can take all the antibiotics in the world that you want, the only thing that it will do for you is that in the future when you really need an antibiotic it won't work on you. Just be carefull about taking drugs in Rio without the guidance of a Doctor unless you really know what your doing. The only thing that will cure a cold or a virus is rest and plenty of it.

Im not a Doctor either but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

    Rio this Weds. or Thurs.

Well done, Bubba Boy. Are you in country right now?

To the rest: I should be dragging my condom cross to Rio this Weds. or Thurs. Anyone interested in an experienced wingman, drop me a p.m. Probably staying at Rio Roiss -- but with the weak dollar being so fucking weak, I'm not sure I can stomach 160R for that semi-dump. Dunno. Will update.

    I'm with you brother!

    Jwadd,

I was just perusing the Argentine board and noticed the same thing. Prices going up. Not sure if it's economics or gringo mathmatics 101.

    Hit it hard!

    Late,

Nice report Paul VJK, reminded me of my first trip and how special it is to see Rio for the first time.

    Byatch-byatch-byatch!!

Well, someone asked what Citibanks (no apostrophe on this computer) ATM exchange rate is now: 2.53R/1USD!! Fuck me how the dollars dropping. The first time I went to Brasil (3 years ago), it was 3.25R/1USD (it was 2.76 3
    three weeks ago).

So, Ive spent months in this country traveling all around the place -- about 200 garotas in 30-or-so cities. Those of us who have spent a little time here are always telling the newcomers TO FUCKING BARGAIN DOWN THE PRICE! Well, now all of us have to pay out the ass for the laziness of some.

300-600R is the standard Rio/SP asking price -- about 120+USD -- which isnt that much better of a deal than you can get in the States. Understand? Instead of paying them a Brasilian months salary for sex, we are soon going to be paying a US months salary for sex. What happened??

All I can hope is that with this reality motivating ALL OF US to give a shit about pricing, we can somehow work it out to get the default/knee-jerk price down to 200R or less (which means negotiating down to 100-150R) -- where it used to be back before MTV/whatever fucked this place up by putting it on the knucklehead gringo sex map.

Sorry for the rant -- its absolutely directed at no one in particular -- Im very type B and look forward to hangin with all of you killers some day as the years go on. The best is yet to come.

    Bargain!,

    A First Trip to Rio

Decided I needed a nice break. Fed up with the girls up here in the good ole USA and wanted to have some fun down in RIO. Only had time for a 5 day trip. Was debating about not going cuz that’s a hell of a long flight for only 5 days. Not to worry.

Flew in through Miami. Fucking long flight. Killer. Screaming babies. Now I remember thinking about how it might be a bad omen for the trip. I shouldn’t have worried.

Arrived in the morning. I guess I was lucky as the lines at the airport were relatively short. Stayed at the Royal Palace – Copacabana. www.royalrio.com. Reasonable prices. Well located. Girl Friendly. About two blocks from the beach. What more can you ask for?

Spent most of the first day sleeping. Hung out by the beach for the afternoon. Felt a little nervous cuz I was on my own – but I fell asleep a bit under an umbrella and nothing happened to me. No big deal.

One big revelation in those first few hours in Rio. After reading about all the beautiful girls in Rio, I realized…. They really are beautiful. Wasn’t prepared for this – everywhere I looked was another gorgeous girl.

Mid afternoon I made my way back to the hotel and then on to my first stop – 4x4. A little bit of a drive, but worth it. Again I was nervous cuz I was traveling on my own (plus I only knew a few words of the language). Shouldn’t have worried. They spoke a little English and we communicated just fine. Paid. Went in. Must have been around 60 girls there. Wow. I’ll repeat. Wow.

Wandered around a bit, because I was cautious about being pinned down with someone I wasn’t interested in. Wanted my first Rio girl to be someone I really wanted. The big difficulty wasn’t finding someone I wanted – it was narrowing the selection down. Finally settled on a gorgeous, slim brunette with hair down to her ass. All I needed to do was smile and she was right by my side. Talked a little – she spoke a little English. We sat down and she started groping and we started making out and I couldn’t resist.

Anyways, later that evening I wandered around. Went down to Help but didn’t go in – was too tired. Lots of girls mulling around.

Spent the next day basically the same way. Hung by the beach, went to a Monte Carlo in the early evening and then went to Help at night. Monte Carlo was fine – hooked up with a nice hottie – best blowjob I’ve had in years. Went to Help – I think the trick was to be patient. There were enough hotties that if the price was too high, I could always move on. First few girls quoted me 300. I wasn’t interested at that price and didn’t really negotiate much. Finally one quoted me 300 - but she seemed kind of… lighthearted. So I countered with 10. She laughed and we ended up hanging out the rest of the night. She came back to my place and in the morning I gave her 200.

Went to the beach that day – and started talking to one of the guys who hang out by the beach selling stuff. He brought over this girl – and I ended up back at the hotel with her a few hours later. What a fucking body. And what an appetite for sex. I think her name was Carolina. Big natural tits. Great ass. Blowjob lips. Long, dark hair. She kept me going longer than anyone I’ve ever met.

We went to a restaurant later that evening together and she stayed with me overnight. Ended up giving her 250, I think.

Day 4 was a little touring, Luomo, and Help. Luomo was amazing – but I think my favorite was 4x4. Help was fine – same sort of pattern. I just bided my time until I found someone who was willing to negotiate. Didn’t set my heart on any one girl.

Day 5 was just beach and a beach girl. Found my guy on the beach again and told him I was leaving but I wanted one more girl. No worries – he hooked me up. Back to the hotel, did my final Rio babe and then headed back to the real world.

Some final thoughts – 1) The girls were gorgeous. 2) Had no problem with crime – I just stayed in crowded places. 3) Food was amazing. 4) Everything was cheap 5) Great place for a vacation – even if it’s not a sex vacation.

Regrets: 1) Should have stayed longer. 2) Should have done some brazil travel outside of Rio.

The cost of hobbying in Rio

    Monger-friends,

During my recent stay in Rio from March 25-April 3 I spent $750 to stay in Royal Rio Palace Hotel.

Beyond that I spent $870 airfare round trip from the Pacific Northwest and an additional $2000 of which approx $1000 was for pussy and the other $1000 for food, drinks, souvernirs etc.

Even though I had sex every day I think I need to buy even more pussy next time.

Excuse me? I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. To my knowledge I have never mentioned Mother Teresa in this forum. Why would I? As for Help!, if you like it, fine. I was just expressing my opinion and not classifying anybody. My experience has been that the majority of the girls there are skanks, and I was trying to help fellow mongers avoid wasting their time. My point was that it's all about quality, which I think is much higher at the termas. Of course, anyone is free to differ.

In fact, Rio Bob, in the past I have thought you were one of the best contributers to this board, one whose posts I always read, along with a handful of others. But lately you seem to have morphed yourself into a one man debating society. Maybe all those weeks when we couldn't access the forum made you cranky. So, let's get back to the comradely spirit of this forum, shall we?

The beauty of Rio is that it can be done in many different lifestyles. From Villa Mimosa for your girl and splitting a pizza or eating at Bobs, maybe $60 a day up to getting a stunner at Help for 300 reais and eating in real good restaurants every night throwing in a couple of 3 somes you may be looking at $250 a day US, easy on average.

When I get into town I like to have a refrigarator filled with french champagne, beer, water, rum, vodka and 43 liquor. The girls like nice things and it relaxes them plus you have a better time when they are relaxed and happy.

$250 a day is my number.
