1) It's great that you provided so much info on Help!, and maybe it is some people's cup of tea, but IMHO Help! is strictly for newbies and is best avoided. Since there is so much luscious, luscious, luscious pussy in elsewhere in Rio at far more pleasant establishments, why bother with Help! at all? But I guess this is something mongers will just have to decide for themselves.

Well, I have been going to Rio since 1980 and I love going to HELP, is it for newbies? Well, I have seen a lot of newbies at the termas, its perfect for them, no need of language skills, no need to negotiate, no fear of getting ripped off or of even being rejected like back at home, 40 minutes in a cabine, how safe can you get. I don't go to termas's anymore because it is the most boring experience in Rio IMHO.

What airport are you flying into or out of? Basically if you fly into "GIG" the main international airport you may be cutting it tight on time because that airport is in Zona Norte (the north zone) and is a dangerous area and you will have to go into centro or Zona sul (the south zone, copa or Ipanema etc) to get to the action. Thats a 30 minutes cab ride each way, maybe 45minutes in heavy traffic times.

If you are flying into the domestic airport you certainly could grab a "bite to eat" during your layover. The domestic airport is "SDU" santos Dumont, and is only a 5minute cab ride away from Terma Aeroporto or Terma Rio Antigo, maybe 15minutes (R18 in a cab if you hail one at the entrance, avoid the touts) to Zona Sul or 10minutes into Centro proper (4x4 etc). The terma staff will store any luggage for you and it should be relatively safe. You will of course have to be flying in after 3pm to take advantage of the termas. So yes it is possible, but all the planets will have to align for you.

Euro: Thanks for your comments. I actually planned to go to the Scotch bar but could not find it, will definitely check it out when I am back in May. I have heard good things about it.

Lorenzo: I knew I would make a few errors, I will correct Paulistas to paulistanos when I update the list again. I intend to keep my "mini guide" up to date, if only for my own reference. Will try to add a couple of more "parts" to it like restaurants etc and post it here once in a while. My aim in life is to be able to nail as many brasilian babes as you do when I am your age!

Thought I'd write a few notes on my experiences in Rio recently. Sorry, my memory for names is pathetic! My choice of woman is generally dark, 5'8 or less (my height), medium chested, 20-25 years old, which is what all the below were unless mentioned otherwise.

Went to Help on my first night. About 150 ugly women and 150 desperate, fat, balding blokes (don't think I fit into any of those categories!). Left alone. Got accosted by a bloke outside who "had a gun". Ignored him and got in a taxi.

Went to Loumo next (Terma). Met a nice-looking Brazilian who I took to a suite as it had a shower. Problems with money meant she effectively stole about US$40 of mine, despite receiving the full R200. Confusion initially, but when I tried to later get it back, she suddenly didn't understand a word of English. Sex was very rushed. She did everything I wanted but she was pressuring me to finish. Then she wasn't going to stay the night - she wanted to go back to the club. Demanded taxi fare, and all of a sudden *I* didn't understand *her*. She left without her taxi fare. Basically she tried every trick in the book, which is a real shame as she had such a hot body that she could earn serious amounts of money by being nice, without ripping people off.

Frankie's apparently has a sex show every night, though I left too early to see it.

My last night ended up in the place right next door to Frankie's. Not sure what it was called, but it was right on the corner. Again, no cover charge because of the American being friends. I wasn't interested in sex from the bad experience the night before. Several girls came and went, but one in particular was quite happy talking knowing full well that neither of us would be taking her home. There were plenty of other men who would have! First chat was with somebody with far too much makeup, which does nothing for me (au naturelle, or complementary rather than OTT). Got rid of her and got talking to a nice darkie. Chatted for about 5 minutes, fondled, usual stuff. She then asked if I wanted sex and I said "ok, let's go" and went straight off to the room! Compared to Bangkok, I'd say this is a totally different experience. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Give it a try, and if you want to stay safe, stick to the termas. Help is crap, some of the Boites may have decent women but you risk a bad experience, and probably best to avoid the streetwalkers!

One final request: can everybody quote in LOCAL currency, as quoting in US dollars is less use than a chocolate teapot when the exchange rate has gone down by 50% compared to my currency in the last couple of years? Thanks!

Great job on your posts. They were thorough and should be required reading for anyone who plans to travel to Brazil. You deserve a Pulitzer or Nobel prize for taking the time to write all of that information!!

I made my third trip to Rio last month, and I hope to make many more! I am fortunate to travel with a friend and WSG memeber who travels to Rio 5 to 6 times a year. He knows his way around town, speaks a little bit of the language, and even has some local contacts that help make the experience even better. This time we were joined by a Rio first timer.

I have to disagree with Lorenzo and Bubba Boy a little - I like Help. I think if you have a game plan and be patient you will get a winner from there. In my "vast" experiences there, I have taken a number of girls from there and have not been disappointed. I like to pick a couple out and watch them for a little while. I look for girls that are dancing, laughing, and enjoying themselves. I would rather take a 7 or 8 that has personality and is having fun over a drop dead 11 who is quiet. I think this translates in to a better time once you get the girl back to your room. This trip I took 4 girls from Help and had incredible experiences with each. My buddy and I were able to score 4 girls from the same apartment (not at the same time!). I thought the overall quality was outstanding, maybe because it was right after Carnival and some of the girls stayed around to earn a few more bucks. The price was a little higher than the past times I have been there but I don't regret paying what I did for any of the girls. I like to use what I call the CPP ratio - the Cost per Pop ratio. I divide the number of pops i get with a girl by how much I paid for her. Even paying a little more, I still consider it the best deal in the world!!! We also went to Barbarella and left after an hour to go back to Help. I was disappointed in the quality and quantity of the girls at Barbarella and didnt think any of the girls would justify the price they would ask. We went back to Help and scored another great girl and another awesome experience.

We also went to a couple of Termas. These things are the greatest inventions ever!! In my mind, when I picture Monger heaven I picture these places. Luomo is quickly becoming my favorite. I think the quality there was as good as any place and the price can't be beat. I have never had a bad experience here. I was disappointed in Centarus a little. I had a great girl but she was not much better than my Luomo girl for the price.

I love this place and hope to get back in May and share some more great experiences.

I have been to Rio many, many times. And yet I learned a lot of new things form your posts. Somehow Jackson should put your posts into a separate section and close the thread; this should be required reading for Rio mongering rookies!

To your list of boites I would add Scotch Bar, also in the red light district of Av. Princesa Isabel. This is a really interesting place, because it is a regular disco at times, and a strip joint at others. So you can first watch a strip show, then dance with the naked strippers. And this is also the only place in Rio where I have ever seen life sex on stage. I have had many quality pick-ups (all pros, of course) at this place. Very recommended.

Many thanks on behalf of all present and future mongers on your series of posts on the Rio (mostly) and SP mongering situation. I can't imagine anyone being more thorough and comprehensive. You are a true humanitarian in the tradition of Albert Schweitzer and Mother Teresa. If there were a Nobel Prize for mongering--and there should be--you should be the first recipient. I'm sure there would be much disagreement as to who should be second.

I can't disagree with a single thing you said, but let me just add the following to supplement:

2) If you like fine dining and are not a penny pincher, and if you find a termas girl that you like and make arrangements for her to take a night off and party with you, why not begin the evening by taking her out to dinner at a fine restaurant? I love to eat and hate to do it alone, but since I always travel alone, this is an ideal way to find myself a dinner companion. However, it's best to do this with someone with whom you have a bit of chemistry. My favorite is Antiquarius in Leblon, but other excellent dining establishments are Satyricon, Yemanja, and even upscale churrascarias like Mariu's and Porcao. Odds are likely that she will never have experienced anything like this, since these places are beyond the reach of all but well to do Brazilians. On the other hand, if you are American, western European, or Japanese, you will find that even the most expensive restaurants are modestly priced by the standards of your own country. For example, dinner for two at Antiquarius, Rio's best restaurant, will probably come to less than US$100, including drinks, wine, appetizer, dessert, and tip. We are always talking about a GFE, and to me this is an essential part of a GFE.

3) I agree with everything you said about Centaurus, undoubtedly the most controversial termas in Rio, for the reasons you stated. One of my basic beliefs is that everything in life involves a tradeoff, and this is nowhere better illustrated than at Centaurus. Here the tradeoff is higher prices and attitude v. a consistently higher caliber of girls. I suppose every monger will have to decide for himself. To my mind, however, there are so many high quality girls available at L'uomo, for example, and others, that there is no need to bother with Centaurus. But I suppose it should be experienced at least once.

4) You didn't mention the Classificados which appear every day in O Globo and Jornal do Brasil. To take advantage of these you will need to read and speak Portuguese. The classificados are, in a way, the exact opposite of escort services in that you can talk to the girl but don't know what she looks like. However, to me talking is more important in that I get a chance to see if there is any chemistry, if she has an attitude, and to negotiate services. But I think you can be reasonably certain that she will be attractive; if not, you can send her on her way (although ethically you should pay her cab fare).

5) A minor point, probably bordering on nitpicking: 'paulista' refers to a resident or native of Sao Paolo state, not the city. Residents of Sao Paolo city are called 'paulistanos'.

Whether they make $20k or $100k US who cares? You guys are forgetting one thing--you are paying anywhere from $40-90 to fuck a stunner that would probably cost ten as much in the states. We're forgetting the other side of this whole equation--that they have kids to feed, sometimes develop drug habits and after a few years, without a good diet and proper exercise, their bodies break down quickly. I cant tell you how many yound stunners I meet and after year or so develop beer bellies and cellulite cheeze ass (yuck!)
