I know you regulars are getting tired of all the rookie questions, but I am confused with what a termas actually is. At first I pictured a fish bowl (like Thailand) but after reading most of the reports from 2004, I think I had the wrong impression. Is it more like a gentleman's spa, with steam bath, massage, etc? Or is it like a disco with on site rooms?

Please help this rookie get his head out!

I used to travel to Rio in the early 70s as a classified courier, but seldom was allowed out of the consulate at night. I did go back last year but with my wife, so couldn't monger. Now I have a chance to go in July/August and trying to get it together.

Nice trip report Havahopeful. Cuba is a destination that has been on my list for quite some time, more so for the beauty of the actual country (the beaches, water, flora & fauna), than the mongering.

There are several Termas' in Barra De Tijuca that are still "undiscovered" to most who spend all their mongering days & nights in dirty Copacabana. Barra De Tijuca has a beach that is 100x better than Copa--just imagine sitting on the beach and not getting harassed every two seconds by a vendor selling some crap.

Anyway, there are three I visited and two that stand out as very good. The first is Caza Amaraillo (sp?) in English known as Yellow House. You can also tell any taxi driver to take you to house #400 on the pria (beach). Entrance is about 15R and drinks are moderately priced. The other place is called Pigalle and is located right outside of Barra De Tijuca (15 minute ride from Barra). I had fun times at both. Unlike the other Termas' Copa/Ipanema, you don't have to check-in your clothing and have a more club atmosphere with all the girls dressed in bikini's (so let's descriptively call it a 'bikini bar'!). Cost here runs approximately 130R total for girl and room; drinks and entrance extra. Girls will range from about a 6-8 and I encountered many, many blondes at both these places (if that's your thing).

Anyway, go check them out and let me know your thoughts!

I was in Rio for the first time during the second week of January for 8 days. I have seen a few reports that say it has gone down hill and all I can say is I can't imagine what it must have been like before if that is really the case!

The only other true hobbying trip I have taken was to Havana and Rio beats it hands down.

Just some general observations:

Termas-I went to Luomo's, MonteCarlo and Solarium. Definitely found Luomo's to be the best. Of the three it had the best selection and I just really like the atmoshpere, I love that chill out room in the back.

At Luomo's I was with Pricilla who is a mixed girl, I think 24 years old with died blond hair perfect body. In general all but one or two of the girls there had bodies that I would classify as an 8 or better. The first time with Pricilla she brought her friend along for a threesome. I would definitely reccomend Pricilla as one of the best sexual experiences in my life. One strange thing with the threesomes is always having to change condoms when you switch from one girl to the other. The other girl in the threesome was a 19 year old black girl also great experience and very sweet.

I visited Luomo's two other times and once had a repeat with Pricilla and another time with this european looking girl with braces also an amazing body, very fun and sweet great blowjob, just couldn't compare sexually to Pricilla.

A friend I was travelling with hooked up with Carolina probably the hottest there for my taste. 29 years old tall, very native look to her. He virtually fell in love and basically monopolized her on every visit.

All of these girls were very friendly and all gave us their cell phone numbers. Only negative thing about L'uomos is that I had to pay double for the room because it was a 3 some. Did not know that until I was paying.

Montecarlo's we had the guy at the front desk give us a tour and after sizing up the talent decided to pass and head back to L'uomos.

Solarium. Solarium was all in all ok, my friend once again pounced on the hottest girl in the place and other than her I didn't find any stars. I had a session with a black girl with braces from Salvador, very nice and sweet, but I had to be kind of quick about it as I was meeting a non pro for dinner.

We went to Help 2 times and I really didn't care for it. There were some stunning girls there but they didn't seem all that friendly and quoted some ridiculous prices 550 R for 2 hours to which I just laughed.

Met one girl with an amazing body there ok face, my friend and I negotiated her down to 300 R provided we both had our turns. Very poor session and attitude. Argued with me for 10 minutes about being paid up front to which I said no and that she could just leave if that was her demand, she backed down and agreed to be paid after. She seemed to be new to the game but who knows. From now on the minute I start to dislike a situation or a girl's attitude I am just going to move on as it always seems to ruin the experience.

Actually ran into a girl who had a real attitude problem the night before in Help on the street in Copa one morning, kind of funny she was much nicer and I even thought about proposing a session right then and there but I was on my way to meet a non pro.

Agencies. I called Karla's Models, Ciaplus, and Scort Show on a Sunday, and only one of them picked up the phone. I ran down the list of 4 names I had chosen and they said that none of them were available. I was dissappointed with this as it seems that you can't beat the price and some of the bodies on those girls look amazing.

Non Pros. I hooked up with 2 non pros on my trip. Both of whom I had met online prior to travelling. They were both great and even acted as tour guides for my friend and I. The only problem with non pros is that (at least this is the case with these 2) they tend to latch on and want to get together every day and night. By the end of the week I was exhausted from making up all sorts of excuses why I couldn't see them. Kind of crazy as both of these girls are girls I would love to date back home!!!

Safety. I didn't run into any problems at all, I stayed in Ipanema Towers and was very aware of my surroundings when I visited Copa so I am sure that helps.

Ipanema Towers was great and very guest friendly.

Language. I speak Spanish very well and before comming to Rio I had made it about 1/3 of the way through Pimpsleur's Portuguese 2. When I got confused in Portuguese I would break into Spanish as a back up and was able to communicate enough to enjoy conversations with people. I would say that is a big element in enjoying yourself on this trip. My friend spoke basically no portuguese and he didn't get nearly as much out of the trip.

Nice report on Rio. I’ve read about Vila Mimosa before, but did not realize the prices are that cheap there. Looking at the prices you posted, someone could really go to Rio for dirt cheap if they did all of their p4p in Vila Mimosa (R$ 15-35 per session) and stayed at a youth hostel (R$ 35 per night) in Rio.

I was in town a few weeks back and wanted to report on my experiences.

Help: Compared to 3 years ago, the quality of Help has shown a notable decrease in quality (each time I've visted Rio was post-Carnaval March/April time). I will not generalize and would like to say that it is very possible that my recent experiences here can be attributed to post-Carnaval downtime. Of dismay to me was that some of the stunners from yesteryear are still right there plowing their trade, looking as weathered as an overworked mule. Not dissapointed that they are still there at Help, but dissapointed that they are looking pretty haggardly and still haven't moved on to the next stage their trade... From this, I will deduce that quality intake of fresh talent has been low, thereby resulting in low turnover regardless of how dated the girls look. Indeed there were a handful of very good looking girls, fresh faces and sexy bodies--the only problem was demand for them was high resulting in outrageous prices (>300R).

Another major aggravation, I know I'll be flamed for this, but it seems the entire monger scene has been flooded by Europeans, especially Italians. I have nothing against Italians or Europeans per se (I've lived in Europe for three years France & Italy), but current economic conditions of Euro vs Dollar vs Real make me cringe at the thought of having to "outbid" the Italianos for some good pussy. A part of me just wishes not only the Italianos, but all the mongers except for myself and the local Brasilearos would allow me to enjoy Rio for a month alone... ahhhhh one can only dream.

Anyway, back to the story. If you are strictly in town for mongering and have no local friends to show you around, consider Help ground zero during your stay here. But you have MANY other options...

Centaurus: I always indulge in Centuras just once towards the end of my stay in Rio so I can leave with a smile on my face. This time was no different from my other experiences here. Prices have gone up about 20-30R total from what I remember. It is now 90R entry, billed right away as you enter, and 220R for the girl including cabine (total 310R). Super-suites I think cost 100R extra. On a Saturday evening there must have been approximately 50-80 girls here. Quality was good--many 8's and even a few 9's. But I cannot recall a single 10. I spent 2-3 hours drinking, shooting the breeze and sizing up the girls. Eventually I settled on a 28yo, caramel skinned morena who goes by Shakira. She had an absolutely amazing ass (amazing enough to be able to distinguish her from 90% of the girls there), flat stomach and was by and large, very pretty. She had a awesome personality to boot. Wait for about 20-25 minutes for a room to open up; in the meantime I take a shower and get a relaxing massage from her. Upstairs the action was incredible and she put on a great performance. Shocking, but this was the first time I had a termas girl toss my salad--took me by surprise. Anal was okay by her, but I blew my load before I could circumnavigate her alternate orifices. Exhausted beyond belief, we spent the next 10 mins just laying around talking.

L'uomo: Spent a Saturday evening here. Got there at 3:30p and was told they don't open till 4p so I went back outside and grabbed a drink at one of the shack/bars downstairs outside of the shopping center (yes for those who have never been here, L'uomo is located inside a shopping mall type establishment). At 4p, place opens up and I discover about 20-25 girls in attendance. Quality was nice, mostly 7's, a few 8's, maybe even a 8.5, but there were more 6's than I would have wanted to be in there. Girls were very friendly and accomodating. I stayed about 1hr 30 mins, but left w/o taking any girl up since I was heavily intoxicated by this time and felt really out of it. Definitely worth the trip and cheaper than Centaurus.

V. Mimosa: This is Rio's mini red-light district in a seedy area. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but I went here twice and never felt any threat. It's cheap, fun and dirty -- this isn't everyone's thing but it's an experience. The girls ranged from downright ugly to very cute. I paid anywhere from 15-35R to do the deed. I couldn't believe it, but they even have a website: http://www.vilamimosa.com.br/

Non-pro scene: Regular brazilian girls are wonderful but the super-sexy, upscale ones you see in Fashion Mall, Barra shopping, New York City Center etc. simply are not interested in even talking to a sex-tourist gringo (if you're reading this, yes you are too). Best place to meet these girls is their stomping grounds--goto the clubs where they party, the beaches where they tan, shop where they shop, etc. If you speak no Portuguese, good luck. You will get lumped with the rest of the sex tourist gringos who stay at copa and goto Help every night. The popular night clubs in Rio now are Melt, Nuth, Sky Lounge, etc. So maybe you can go there and throw around a little Euro or USD and look big, right? First working on even trying to get in. You think that hot girl at the best clubs controlling the door with their guestlists in LA, NYC and Miami are bitches? Wait till you meet the ones here! Good thing I was with the co-owner, beacuse she would tell guests whom she did not care for in one of five languages to just go home and not waste their time online. I saw one true gringo from Austin slip the guard at the door 60R to get him and his friend in, only to watch them leave dejected after waiting in line for 90 MORE minutes; and he didn't even get his money back. My advice, if you plan on coming down here often, spend time ot make friends with well connected locals who have the hook-up--it will be worth its weight in gold. A local Brazilian friend is a friend for life, trust me.

I´m still in Rio :-) and have some news.

For sure, termas are the best place to spend some hours during the late afternoon in Rio.

I tested Luomo, Solarium and 4x4: all very nice but the place I prefer is Luomo.

Few hours ago (7 p.m.) I have been there for the second time and was unbeliaveble the atmophere: nice music, bars, tens of interesting girls and many really wonderfull ones. please note that for wonderfull I mean girls that can have the first page on Playboy, Playmate or similar.

I sow many place in the world but is not possible to explain what is termas in Rio: You have only to be there to understand ...

I was looking for one, when arrived a gilr that is exactly what everyone think about a carioca girl: blonde, tall, nice breasts and incredible "bunda"!

ok, She was immediately pick up from onther man (less than 20 seconds) but I contacted her saying I was waiting for her ... not so much, 45 minutes.

At the end, for sure Rio is the best place in the world for many reasons: after had been in Rio could be very difficult to organize different holiday, ok, speaking about single mas: I suggest to the merried friends to don´t came in Rio if their are not masochist!

I went to Centaurus at 4:30 on Monday and stayed for a couple of hours. On my last trip to Rio in November I went to Centaurus twice, on both occasions I waited ages until I found a hot girl and had a great time. Having said that, I think that Centaurus is just not worth the price premium over other termas.

Good report on Rio. What time did you go to Centaurus on Monday? I usually get there between 5:30 and 6:30 and never had any problems finding a beauty. I guess every place can have an off-day though.

I think you hit the nail on the head with what you said about Barbarella. I noticed a group of guys that had a big table next to the dance floor also, with the cream of the crop setting with them. Also, like you said, the finest women in there appeared very disinterested. I think you're better of spending your time on girl that shows you some initiative and not the other way around, even if she is really hot.

Sorry I can't give you any feedback on Rio during Easter time, but Solarium should be open during any public holiday. On my last trip, they were open on a holiday when all (or most) of the others were closed.

Enjoyed reading your report, but it would have been much better had you included a few names or additional descriptions. You seem to do exactly what I do, which is to ask the girls I see to write down their names and numbers. I made my fourth trip to Rio in January, this time spending nine days there.

On my first night I went to Luomo. Great selection of girls who are all really friendly and flirty. I found a really sexy girl who gave a top performance in the cabine. Later I hung out in the bar area flirting with the girls and watching the show.

Later on Saturday night I went to Barbarella’s. It was the first time I had been there and having read mixed reviews I was curious to see what it was like. The entrance fee of 60reals includes two drinks. I arrived early to ensure that I didn’t miss any really hot girls but overall the quality was fairly average and I didn’t see anyone who really appealed to me. The girls I spoke to seemed rather unenthusiastic. Having just arrived in Rio I was feeling fairly jet-lagged so decided to leave early.

On Monday I went back to Luomo with the intention of seeing another girl who I had spoken to the previous night, but on arrival my cabine girl from the previous night latched onto me and since she was really pleased to see me I didn’t wait around for the other girl. Performance in the cabine was even better than the previous night.

Later on Sunday I went to Help. It was packed but there was a very poor male/female ratio, perhaps 1:1. The quality of the girls was terrible, both in looks and attitude. Asking prices were crazy, the first girl I chatted to quoted me an amount in pounds sterling (100GBP or 500 reals) if I wanted to see whether she had silicon implants. I declined the offer. There were perhaps 5 girls who I would consider to be really hot, most of whom I recognised as regulars (one is the girl with dark hair, slightly oriental eyes, large silicon implants, who always sits in front of the dance floor near the main entrance). In the end I bumped into a really nice girl that I spent some time with in November and we agreed 200 reals to go back to my hotel.

On Monday I went to Centaurus. The selection of girls was really terrible, again in both looks and attitude. I hung around for quite a while looking for a girl who appealed but in the end gave up. Having managed to negotiate with the front desk to only pay the entrance fee on arrival, I decided to cut my losses and leave without anything more.

On Tuesday I went to Solarium. Great selection of ladies, both in attitude and looks. I love the way the girls dance in front of the full length wall mirror. I picked a really hot girl from Sao Paulo, great performance in the cabine.

On Wednesday due to rain all day I decided to go to 4x4 which opens at 2pm. I arrived at about 2:30pm, and there were very few customers but a reasonable number of girls. One girl latched onto me and I was happy to chat to her while I appraised the other girls as they arrived, but in the end I decided she was the hottest one there so we went to a cabine. Performance was fantastic. Afterwards, as it was still early and raining outside I decided to hang around in the bar area a bit longer. By about 4pm most of the girls had arrived but there were still not many customers. After 5pm it really starts filling up with customers, mostly locals who have just left work. The girls put on a great strip show on the centre stage. I took another girl to a cabine but this time the performance was very dissappointing..

On Thursday it was again raining all day so I again went to 4x4. Saw the first girl from the previous night, how could I resist, and performance in the cabine was outstanding.

On Friday I went to Solarium. Again great selection of girls. I picked a girl who I had spoken to on my previous visit. Performance in the cabine was superb.

Later on Friday I thought I would give Barbarella’s one more try. This time the selection was much better with a few really hot girls. I passed on a few girls who offered short time for 250reals. The really hot girls seemed fairly disinterested, they didn’t seem to want to talk to anyone for very long, and spent more time dancing on the stage (perhaps they are just dancers and not P4P?). In Barbarella’s I think it helps if there are two or more of you because then the waiters put you on the tables near the dance floor, and the girls think they can join your table in more of a party atmosphere where they can bleed you for drinks. In the end I gave up and left.

On Saturday I went to Luomo. Fortunately on arrival I saw the girl I had spoken to but not sessioned with the previous Saturday. So I made up for lost time and we took a cabine, and she was yet another girl who gave great performance in the cabine. Afterwards I hung around in the bar and saw the girl who I had already sessioned with the previous Saturday and Monday. Well how could I resist, so we took a cabine and this time performance was even better which I didn’t think would be possible.

On my final night I went to Solarium and saw the girl I had seen on Friday. She had just spent the afternon at final rehearsal for Carnival samba dancing. Really great GFE, I felt quite deflated leaving there, knowing that it was back to Blighty for me the next day.

So overall, nine nights and seven girls, of whom six gave fantastic performance and only one was a disappointment. As has been mentioned on this board many times before but especially by Saint, the Brazilian termas really are superb institution. In general the terma girls really like what they do and you can have a great time just hanging out in the termas flirting with the girls. When you do take a girl to a cabine the performance is generally mind-blowing. Most of the girls gave me their phone number to arrange after work hotel visits or trips to the beach and gave a real GFE.

I am planning to go back to Rio at Easter for a minimum of 5 nights. Does anyone know what Rio is like over Easter, do the termas close on Good Friday?

I was reading the same stupid article in the NYTimes - what are the obese Americans say about it? Mia noiva was laughing about this article. She eats whatever she wants, is 34 years old and has 100 pounds. The Brazilians do not snack as the Americans do!!!

For sure there are also fat Brazilians - but got to the Termas - do you find one girls which is fat there? You and I want to hobby - I do not wnat to hobby with a grils wihich has 200 pounds! If they want my money they better are in shape!

For sure the Brzilian women have a BUNDA, but that is what I like and that is the reason why I am there. I love it and I will love the Brazilian women forever- eo gosto as bundas!!!
