I just wanted to let everyone know that Help is definitely not good for exchanging American dollars right now. Help has always given the best or close to the best rate for American dollars but it's all over now. Their current rate is 2.20 while the official rate is over 2.24 (ATM rate). I exchanged the usual $100 the other night and after they told me what rate they're giving me, I got my $100 back. The cambios all seem like they're in some conspiracy to screw tourists since they're all quoting the same crappy rates below the official/ATM rate. Last time I was here I was able to get up to 8 centavos over the official rate, but they're not budging much past the official rate this time with a good amount of haggling. Anyone else have more luck recently (last few days) and which cambio?

I was very tired after many hours of flying and four plane changes, so I did only went to one place on Tuesday night.

I chose Barbarella as the place to try first. I really enjoyed myself. The girls were all at least 8s with many 9s. I arrived around 10:30 PM and the bar was mostly empty. By 11 PM it was starting to fill up. There is always one girl on stage dancing topless in a g-string. There is a bigger stage on the other side of the room that serves as a dance floor. Lu started off asking for $300 US for staying with me for "long time", but not to sleep over. I managed to get her down to $300 Reais. I am going to have to sharpen my bargaining skills (and be prepared to walk away), but I was very tired and she had gotten me very turned on.

The doorman steered us into a non-metered taxi that cost 20 Reais for the short trip to the hotel. The trip over in a metered taxi was under 5 Reais. The doorman also demanded a tip.

The Marriott made he sign a checkin card with many personal details and took a copy of her ID. The bellman told me that I had made a "good choice". She was very energetic and skilled in bed and stayed for over two hours.

Lu told me that most of the customers at Barbarella are Italian with a very small amount of Americans and a very, very small amount of Brazilians.

It seems like the cambio's are all crazy too. Almost all are giving under the official rate, which makes no sense either. Why wouldn't I just use my ATM instead of using a "black market" cambio? Everyone here needs some economics lessons or a good whack in the head.

Even if they only get 200 reais per night, they do not have to absolutely get laid every night. They easily can make a living by getting lucky once every three or four days. If they are not greedy, and if they are decent looking, they can be picky. But these are two big ifs.

I agree but this wasn't 200R, she wanted 400R for 1:30hr. That's just ridiculous, that's bordering on what I can pay in the U.S. In fact, I can pay less than that at an AMP or LMP in the U.S.

I have observed that as well. I've found that when traveling to the 3rd world america's if the girls have no business (or our $ isn't doing so hot) they RAISE the prices... it seems like an inverse of the supply/demand curve - not sure how that works for them but it sure does put a damper on the # of shots one can get off during a vacation!
