Well, FT, I have no doubt that what you say is true. I, too, have found Rio the greatest place in the world for mongering, surpassing Bangkok and Havana, which I would rank as #s 2 and 3.

But look at it this way. A guy can love his wife, and she can be the most beautiful woman in the world, but he may still need a little variety. I love Rio, but I've been there 10 times in the past few years, the last time for a couple of months. So I think it's time for a breather. This spring I'll be traveling all 7 countries in Central America, not just Costa Rica, just to try some different mongering scenes, and some different food. I don't expect them to be better than Rio, but just different. And in July and August I'll be purchasing a One World South America pass and doing most of the countries in SA, my final stop being Rio. I think my experiences will make me love Rio even more, although any of these destinations are preferable to sex prison (Jackson's term for the USA). Of course, I'll post a report on every place I visit.

BTW, when I said the 'equivalents of the termas,' I meant they were equivalent in the sense that you can pick out a girl and have sex with her right there in the establishment; in other words, a brothel, which after all is what a termas is. I wasn't implying equivalence in quality. I should have been a little more clear on this point. But your points are well taken.

Thanks for some really great reports. Especially RIO Bob, Lorenzo and Kenn...They got me through 4 trips to RIO so far!

Going back Feb 4th and was checking out this apartment at www.copacabana.us. They call themselves "Savas Copacabana Rentals".

I would prefer to use Kenn or Gingo Management like I have in the past but the guys I'm going with want a luxury place(yeah.. I know...overpriced). Was wondering if anybody has dealt with them or heard anything about them.

If your bummed out by the lousy exchanges rates, the crime reports, and the posts that say Help ain't what it used to be -- to the point where you are thinking about getting re-involved in your local escort scene -- I might recommend that you rent the "Girl From Rio" DVD (not to be confused with "The Girl from Rio"). This simpleminded movie has rescued me from the depths of wintertime despair, and has me dreaming about my next trip to Rio.

Admittedly, the storyline is a little weak, but the cinematography is very good and the samba music is great. Best of all the lovely, lovely, Vanessa Nunes is there throughout the movie reminding us that Brazilian women are the most beautiful, sexiest creatures on the planet.

Well, Rio Bob, the contradiction is only apparent, because Rio is Rio and Costa Rica is Costa Rica. In Rio the termas stay open until 2-4am, depending on which one you go to, so there is really no need to have a garota spend the night. In Costa Rica, the equivalents of the termas all close at 9 or 10pm, so unless you want to retire early, you almost have to bring a chica back to your place, and if you're going to do that, you may as well have her spend the night. At least that's my logic.

I am sorry I didnt have much info on this place as I went there on my way to the airport. This is a brand new terma started by a former manager from 4x4, he also took some of the better girls from 4x4 and a few other stunners. They have girls that are model quality. I think it opens at 3pm, but I got there around 5pm or so, there were 2 mongers in there and the girls were still coming in. Still, l noticed at least 10 very beautiful women.

Drinks? sorry I only had a guaranna soda..so I cant tell u prices, but I dont think its that bad.

I also went Sushi Leblon, this is a very good upscale sushi place in leblon that I highly recommend for sushi lovers. we (three couples) had several platters and a few drinks..buddy decides to play donald trump and pays the entire bill. LOL more money for the garotas!!!

I also visited Monte Carlo and Rio Antigo--for those of u who dont know MC has raised their prices:

I stopped by Rio Antigo on what was supposed to be their 30th aniversary party. This place sucks..pls dont waste your time/money. The only good thing to come out of this was this brazilian monger told me about termas CANCUN....new termas downtown..and all I can say is wow!!

Termas Cancun is located at Rua Do Carmo, 64 easily accessible by metro (get off at the Carioca stop and walk)

The report continues...I have some friends that live in Rio and having had my fill with Arianne, I decided to go to dinner with them. We went to Jardim de Botanico, to this place called Saturnino. This is an excellent restaurant with even better service!!--I started with their capriccio de carne (thinly sliced spiced meat) as an appetizer ...delicious and had some sort of Carne piccante dish with fried cheese and sauce for the main course. I had a couple of glasses of very good red wine and also ordered some caipirhinas...in the end our bill came to 350 reals or so. Good food, great service, I highly recommend this place. (This is my tribute to GK from the sampa board)

There is major resentment against americans in general in rio....the place is simply not the same anymore but there are still great bargains to be had for those who know where to go. In lapa Club SOL (sp?) is the spot on Saturdays. This is the former Melli Mello. I also found out that Baronetti now charges 90reals for entrance/consumption. but if u call ahead and make reservations--u pay only 50 reals..nuth/club six also raised their prices, but nuth u can get in free if u make dinner reservations. Club Six is now 60 reals to get in I hear..
