Having gone to Rio during Carnival, I could not stay away for long. I will be back to Rio Sept 9th-18th. I'm staying in the exact same apartment provided by riorentals4less. John is extremely helpful and always gets me exactly what I want. I 100% recommend them. If anyone is going to be there, PM me and we can have a couple of beers. Cheers.

Posts: 346Brazil currency ends at 40-month high
According to a Senior Analyst at Morgan Stanley, the Real is going to continue to strengthen. Today it closed at 2.28, and OIL could go higher if Bush and Pres. Chavez ( VENEZUELA) keeping giving each other the finger. The US imports %15 of its CRUDE OIL from Venezuela. I predicted back in May, that the REAL will reach 2.11 or lower by Jan 1.
There is also a planned price increase scheduled for the Hotels, rates will be increasing.
Not lets do the math:
Your currency is now weaker.
It now cost you more to buy 1 Real.
Now your plan ticket has went up already %4 from June and will continue to increase as the fuel price rises.
Now you Hotel cost has went up.
Now maybe you brain stem big spenders will start putting the pressure on these HIGH CLASS prostitutes to lower their fee.
Now lets see if these chicken sh*t big spenders will be willing to drop $R300 for these garotas.
Now maybe they will learn to negotiate for the f*ck.
If you calculate it these garotas are earning a comprable income to your selves.
Thing about it, your in a 3rd world country and she's earning maybe %10 less than you.
Its amazing what the market forces can do. Hopefully this will teach those who are not practicing negotiation to NEGOTIATE.
For the Veterans who have been going for yrs, you guys know where I'm coming from on this thing.
I keep getting these e-mails from my Garota friends that they are getting $R250-$R300 for a 2 hr job.
Hopefully these prices will burn your ass holes like Gonorrhea, you'll turn these B*tches away when the quote you these crazy prices.
Tell them what you are paying to be in that sh*t hole, and they she's already earning top Real on your currency and that you will not be f*cked up the *ss on this trip.
Stand up and negotiate and take a f*ck'in stand.
2:1 means $R300 is $150. Do the math sh*it face.
You guys know who you are. Yes $R250 it too much in an economy like yours.
The e-mails I'm getting from my Garota friends are sick.
They are starting at $R300 and are not going below $R250 sometimes.
I hope Jackson and some of the other Veterans and add to this tirade.
I'm delighted to see the price go up, I hope it goes up some of these BIG SPENDERS huge ass holes.
To you guys that love the place add your comments.

"Isn't Lula da Silva's administration part of a corruption scandal right now. I'd say corruption is at the top of the Brasilian food chain, wouldn't you???"
OK, Rasta. Since you know so much about Brazilian corruption, tell me the names of three Brazilians who are being accused of corruption and what concrete evidence is against them.
BTW, I'd say corruption starts at the top of the food chain EVERYWHERE. Remember Enron...? That kind of corruption, however, isn't going to help the case of a guy who's essentially a small time foreign hustler who's currently on the very wrong side of the police.
You guys seem to thinkl that everything can be resolved in Brazil with a couple hundred dollars passed along to the right person. (Un)forntunately, that's not quite the case.

Can someone bribe the current ruling party and bring the government down? It will help the exchange rate.

Posts: 166I will be there for about 10 days. I bought my tickets a couple months ago in the 800 range. Im afraid to see what the fares will be for next trip, now that oil is even higher. I will post a little trip report. Loverboy, what company that you used had the nicest apartments for the best prices. I'm really not looking to spend more than 50 a night.

I have been there when it was 1.15 -1.00 (not good) and I have been there when it was 3.65-1.00(excellent). I prefer the latter. LOL. But it is what it is. Like you stated before, we all gotta die one day. But if we are lucky it won't be soon. Have a good trip man.

How long will you be in action?
Don't forget to hit everything.
Let me know what the currency is also.
I see the CRUDE OIL went over $64/barrell today and United, Delta & American are raising their fares accordingly.

I am about 8 days from paradise. Unfortunately, the exchange rate is going back down.a couple of years from now when we're getting 1.75 to 1, we are going to look back and tell stories of the good ol days when we were getting 2.9 to 3 to 1. how great it was. My biggest worries out there are not the usual things. I fear dying in a fire at a therma, dying in one of those cabs, since no one obeys lights or stop signs after 8pm, and lets not forget jaywalking in rio. The price you pay for big natural tits and asses.
