It's being built by the owner of ABC and I think he told me that Phillies will move into it. He will operate a night club in the building and according to him, the club will be oriented toward an "older" male clientele as he doesn't like the noise and music associated with High Society.

Hope he is prepared to have older females taking care of his older male clientele. Young women like the music associated with High Society. We all know that where ever you can lure the women, that is where the males will go.

The new building going up at the entrance to Walking Street across from Phillies was rumored to be the new Starbucks. For a while it was known as the Starbucks building.

I can remember that they dug at least a 20 foot hole in the ground for it.

Yes, it is owned by the ABC owner. It is to have a nightclub to rival Hi So. Will open in March or April.

I started talking to a guy at breakfast and come to find out he is a partial owner of many clubs in AC. I gave him some advice:

1) use his power to get some flights from Tapei and Hong Kong and Seoule etc cheap enough so guys will fly into Clark instead of Manila. They will then spend more time, if not all their time, in AC.

2) find something for guys to do during the day. BJ bars were good for a quckie BJ during the day. But they are mostly gone. And most don't do in-house BJ's so it is not possible to just stop in for a blow. I tried to get a massage during the day at one of the Fields ave massage shops and won't do that again. One girl tried to rip me off, and at another shop they showed me to a room, and made me wait in there for 10 minutes, so I just left. People say Perimeter Road bars are good during the day, but I walked down there on a Saturday at 3 pm or so and it was a graveyard.

Yes, Penthouse is on Santos, extending over to Gloria St on the other side, with another entrance there. Generally located between Swiss Chalet and Valentino's (where the street name changes at the curve). There used to be a friendly little bar / restaurant, where American bikers (Rolling Thunder?) used to hang out, a few doors down from Swiss Chalet. The American biker bar (whose name escapes me at the moment), along with some other small buildings, was leveled for the Penthouse construction site.

Am not aware of any hotel at Raymond / Fields. Orchid Inn's front entrance is at Raymond and Real St (facing Body Shop and Agasya) kitty corner from Las Vegas, where I used to hang out quite a bit when in town.

Used to drive past Valentino's, along the back area of Orchid Inn. Just past the curve in the small street there (just past the Santo Nino Chapel), which becomes the south part of Raymond St, I used to slow down and enjoy the catcalls and lascivious looks and suggestive tongue rolling of the young (and some not so young) ladies sitting at tables outside of the establishments on Raymond. Some of the girls were quite pretty.

ABC is not at Raymond and Fields. What hotel are you referring to? Penthouse?

Your report confirmed my opinion, that is, Christmas New Year in the Phils is a period best avoided.

Christmas and Easter in the PI, Ramadan in Indonesia, Songkran in Thailand -- I've learned the hard way to avoid them all.

OhOh. The beginning of the end? The last thing BB needs. Aside from the ocean and relative quiet the only attraction of BB was it's cheaper prices. Now the dreaded DLD has arrived and the girls are asking 4 K? WTF? OK NS has a penchant for making everything sound bad or worse but if this has begun how long before it is fucked as well as AC?

Anyone there now or been in the last couple of weeks who can share some info on how widespread this is or was it just a NYE aberration? I am planning a trip there in April. I hope it's not all gone to hell by then.

Only in the Philippines would they install two traffic lights, 150 yards apart and not connect the roads. And to top it off, you can no longer turn left at station 4 to go to SM. You have to turn right, go down to the traffic circle and come back.

Yep. And I had trike drivers want P50 more for going down to the circle and turning around to SM mall. LOL.

Hello all,

As promised in some previous posts, here is my guide and report on the one and only Angeles city. As I have done for Pattaya and Phnom Penh, I have tried to give some guidance to another traveller following the same route. I believe this will be useful to the traveller going there, and equally feel confident that those experienced and living in Angeles will indulge me and agree with a decent portion of what I will have written.

Inevitably, my recent trip to Pattaya will induce some comparisons I feel suitable to make. And may give some hints as to what sets both places apart. Whilst Pattaya may be considered Sex City, Angeles is very much Sex "Town", smaller in size while feeling much more homely and easy to get to know (not to mention, more difficult to get lost in late at night).

To get the obvious point out of the way: Yes, Angeles is still worth visiting and is amazing in my opinion.

I am glad I came across this report. I am about to embark on a 73 day trip to Asia and, based on my last disappointing experience with the place (three years back when, over the course of a month, I hit Manila, Subic Bay, Angeles, Bohol, Boracay and Palawan), I had written the Philippines out of the script. Now I am reconsidering.
