I'm pretty sure it's not by dance group but woman specific.

I wish hookers were buying me smokes and Red Horse. That's where our money is going. I don't know any girls getting paid by local BF's. It's the other way around.

She probably brought a couple of useful tubes, actually prefer those to the TVs with a more solid state.

My preferred Clark sign is the one proudly announcing that Clark is no Plastic Free, can still read abou tit here https://www.philstar.com/nation/2016...clark-freeport as well as buy all your takeaway plastics at Clark shops.

The Me Too brigade must be frothing at the mouth at the opportunity to fund the rescue of peasant girls enslaved to a life of being molested and compelled to serve western men's perverted fetishes.

Just imagine all the NGO training schools that can be set up to upskill Mary from sucking dick to cleaning CRs in a Michelin starred restaurant.

A few years back Sailor Jack was riding his bicycle out around the Clarke area where the exhaust fumes are not so bad. Sailor Jack stopped by a field of strange looking plants. The field was about the size of a football pitch. The plants were being cared for but the plants were clearly not doing so well in the Philippines climate. There was an elegant sign that read something like; "Philippines / XXXXXX XXXXXX XX XXXXXXX Joint Jatropha International Global Warming Blah Blah Blah Project".

Sailor Jack thought about it for a moment. Then Sailor Jack got it! This sorry ass field of wilted Jatropha was the result of millions of dollars some other country's (guess who!) money poured down the endless sewer drain of Philippines corruption.

A paraphrased quote from Brother Berry; "Sometimes I think I am being too cynical. But here a high degree of cynicism is necessary."

    Dearest AsianPursuits;.

Rest assured that SJ has his fingers on the local puwit, uh.....pulse.

Sailor Jack has no real read on if this will really happen.

It seems unlikely that the forces that control the bars will agree to this plan.

These types of press announcements for fake infrastructure projects. From alfresco dining strips to new airports to wind farms are very common in corrupt shit hole countries. They are announced so that they can get free project development money from the central governments, foreign donors and NGOs. The money then quickly vanishes into various overseas bank accounts belonging to the usual suspects. India does this type of fake infrastructure announcement on a grand scale. Foreign engineering consulting firms and construction companies will pay bribes to position themselves for projects that will never get off the ground. After 5 years of toil, the project will get cancelled as the local authorities never had any intention of building the infrastructure in the first place.

In the case of Walking Street, the Korean mafia dons will need to bless any new development. I don't think that's going to happen.

In my short AC Walking Street history of 10 years I have seen.

    2012 - simple bitumen coverage.

2014 - Upgraded road surface with designs and tiling.

2016 - Upgraded road surfaces starts crumbling due to poor construction (and corrupted payments).

2018 - Deteriorated surface gets covered with bitumen.

    2022 - Bitumen deteriorating.

So for the 2023 refurb, P14.5 M less design fees, less kickbacks for all. Not much for actual construction and quality materials.

Where is the money for promoting the new image. Cannot imagine the local traders' co-op funding attracting Jennelyn and her three kids for a free day.

Totally accept the Mayor's concept to change the image and activity but it's going to take more than a new road surface and some drainage.
As SJ mentioned, Sailor Jack has no real read on any of this. You can forget logic and common sense in AC.

    Some thoughts;.

    1) Sailor Jack did live in AC during a 'major change' to Fields Avenue (2007-2009). There was a big plan to change all of Fields Avenue, updates, renovations, a whole new image and focus. Girlie bars were going away and there would be a new focus. Fields Avenue would become 'Walking Street' like in Pattaya (SJ hopes this makes you laugh as hard now as we laughed then). The outcome? The roads were resurfaced and sidewalks were upgraded (yes, the roads and sidewalks were actually worse than they are now). A section of the street was closed off to traffic and it became 'Walking Steet. ' Oh, and grand signs were put up at both ends of the street. Not much really changed. Not quite Pattaya, now is it?

    2) This is a delicate subject. Sailor Jack's understanding is that Fields Avenue bars primary business is money laundering. Legitimate tourist businesses are unlikely to do this better than what now exists.

    3) There were once many girlie bars in the Ermita section of Manila near L. A. Café. (this is all prior to Sailor Jack making landfall in the Philippines). Some elected moron decided to 'clean up' the area and the girlie bars were indeed run out of there. So it can happen. (If some one knows this tale better than Sailor Jack, then please correct SJ).

Sailor Jack just does not know. Sometimes the wind changes and you got to adjust your sails.

The June 2023 date is just to finish the rehab of the roads and drainage. Which it badly needs.

I can't see this 'red street' doing anything but killing tourism in AC. We'll see if local businesses will put up a fight.

There are not many places left in the world where a pensioner with $20 and a vial of Viagra can leave a young lady with a sore pussy after a night of multiple shots delivered on goal. Some mongers pay $20 while others pay $200,000 and complain on the Raffy Tulfo Show about not getting in enough shots on goal.

I really don't see a demand for all this Al fresco dining to replace Walking Street. Let dining at the why remain!
