Not just Asians. I grew up around Italian families and they often had 3 or more generations in the one house. I must say I saw no free loaders with even the elderly expected do as much as they were able to help around the house.

Admirable? Just a couple of days ago, I arrived at Angeles SM, 2.45 pm to catch a 3 pm bus to Terminal 3 Manila. As Genesis are won't to say repeatedly "Every hour on the hour".

3 pm came and no bus. 4 pm came and no bus. It arrived at 4.35 pm. I am now, in an anticipated 2-3 HR trip, 1. 35 hrs behind schedule to catch an overseas flight.

1.45 pm into the trip I asked bus driver, how much longer before we get to Terminal 3. He said with a smile "45 minutes". I said if I miss my overseas flight I will have to spend 1,200 dollars for a new ticket and new departure. He did not give a shit.

Bad weather prevented my plane from landing on time and departing on time. Saved my skin, but not Genesis. I asked him "what happened to the 3 pm, the 4 pm buses. He was silent, no answer to that.

"Its the Philippines" is the typical response. Phils has a talent for being unreliable. Watch out, when catching international flights out of the country!

It is not all loving, caring and sharing in a Filipino household as you would like to think. They go through the same range of human emotions as any other race, but the issues for some reason seem to be magnified to the power of three. Surely you are joking. The system that you are talking about only works from the bottom up. No kid asked to come into this world and they damn should not be saddled with a mandatory burden from the jump.

From my point of view this way fosters a system of irresponsibility and stagnates growth. It is almost akin to the US welfare system where chicks can push out babies and not worry because Uncle Sam is going to send her a check. In the PI system they will push out babies knowing that in just a few years they will be able to sit back and reap the benefits.

The job of a parent is to raise kids to go out and be able to take care of themselves and build a future making their own families.
