I started with one, and after she insisted, I ended up taking 3 of my regulars with me to Boracay, in an upcoming trip.

Of course I paid for the airfare, hotel and whatever will costs us there, which adds up to a small fortune.

Now I found out that the girls are expecting me to pay them daily equivalents of the would be bar fine for the duration of the trip.

Once again the Philippines never cease to amaze me. I was under the impression that I'm doing a huge favor for them, and it seems that's not the case.

Anyway, the airfare is non refundable, and the hotel I need it even if I'm by myself, therefore I told them that that's not going to happen, and if they want to come without pay, they are welcome, if not, maybe I'll see them when I'm back. It looks like they are coming anyway, even without pay.

Did anybody else go thru something similar? Is that their typical mentality, to squeeze you even when you're super nice to them?

P.S. Last time I was in Boracay (2019), despite all the warnings about the total lack of local talent, I managed to find a mamasan with some very pretty girls.

Typically you would pay them for their days. It is some what negotiable but They have rent to pay and their families to feed. This is something everyone should have an agreement on upfront. Customary for the AC girls to understand and expect that they would get some pay for the days.

Airfare and hotels are relatively cheaper now. Small fortune? If you cant swing the big one and pay then don't.

You arent doing them any favors by taking them away from their earnings. AC is PnP not a dating site. Girls are there to make money to feed their families.

Thought I'd posted this but can't see it here! Wednesday I went to SM Clark for brunch at the French Bakery cafe, and walking back to town I spotted a really cute little thing who replied with a lovely smile when I said Hi. I am taking the Rabbit bus from Manila to AC and the Blue Taxi to my hotel, and the Victory Liner from AC to Olongopo and a trike to my Barretto hotel. Obviously, someone needs to start up a minibus service to AC and Subic; I hear a lot of comments on the difficulty to getting around without spending major pesos getting from one locale to another.

A couple of Australian pirates did run a Monger Express from Manila to AC and then AC to Subic, but it collapsed during the pandemic. I think tight ass mongers also baulked at the cost - 500 pesos. Mongers preferred the Victory Liner service from Pasay for 180 pesos. This was better than cramming into a Toyota mini bus provided by the pirates. There was air conditioning, more leg room, free WiFi and they could watch Korean drama on the screen at 140 db volume. They could also buy tasty snacks off the cute female street vendors along the way.

Did you ever make it to Subic? How did you get there?

No I didn't go in the end and I was able to cancel the CP Reef hotel free of charge. You could take a car, or public bus from Dau terminal, Victory Liner I think.

He tries to create a vibe like its a full blown foam party in Vegas. But jokes apart, although its a very old fashioned pool party its a good option to break the monotony created by the lack of daily activities in AC. Years ago even Wild Orchard Resort organized such parties which were better than Scorebirds.

I hate that guys voice too. He tries to mimic a WWE announcer, we are not getting ready to rumble. Most of the time I just don't understand what he's saying.

Have been in town for a while now, my last stay was in May of this year. When it comes to AC now vs the golden years, it's of course nothing to write home about. That said, I have to admit that especially the Walking Street bars are now stocked with enough cuties to go around. My impression is that there has been an improvement over the last few months, with new girls entering into the trade. If you don't mind the high airfare and the P 3500-5000 barfines, a great time can certainly be had. AC is far from over and done.

Yes it is a pain in the neck especially if you have luggage. Taxi is too expensive for approx 30 km. Public Buses are cheap but they only depart from selected places. Genesis airport bus charges around 200 pesos and drops off at the mall. Still a trike is needed. No escaping from trike mafia.

There's a Blue Taxi bay near the main SM entrance. Flagfall is like P40. Additionally there are often Blue Taxis cruising past the dropoff point at the SM side entrance.

Depends on which hotel is chosen. Many choose their hotel based on features. For me, location is far more important than fitout and luxuries. I'm unlikely to stay anywhere that I can't walk to 90% of places I want.

There are a few hotels walking distance from SM Clark but they may not be to everyone's liking.

There are good connections between all AC, Subic and Manila cities. It's the first & final mile that are the issue. No monger stays at Pasay, Dau or Olongapo so the trike mafia must be used. But that's the price of 300 p transport. We get what we pay for.
