With my limited Spanish, I was able to get phone numbers but when it came to talking to non pros over the phone, my Spanish was just not enough to have a conversation. Mother of my baby in Makati is a high rank employee in a Makati based intl company where she works the law issues and if I did not know better she could easily been a native englishspeaking person (she have uni from US so ofcourse that helps). Lack of the native language has never prevented me from having a good time. In p 4 p you just need to know how much to pay; if you have a cell phone they can type the numbers for you, if you don't they will type it on their cell phone. In moving around get someone at the hotel to write down your destination for you which you can show to the taxi driver. Always keep your hotel card on you in order to return. I have had a great time in China without knowing a lick of Chinese. Now relations with non-pros is a different scene completely. Someone suggests that my post about Mt. Pinatubo (caldera) is off topic. Mt. Pinatubo is a one day trip from AC and there are several places in AC where you can arrange the tour. I think Pinatubo is a good trip for anyone who needs a day off from barhopping and girl hunting. Heck, you could even take a girl with you. LOL.

From my forty odd years of pursuing this hobby I have seen many changes in mongering destinations, some places that used to be good are no longer so. However, I have observed that Colombia has maintained a good standard over the years in terms of quality of chicas, cheap prices and stellar service. I would recommend Medellin, Bogota, Cali or Cartagena as suitable alternatives to Angeles City. Jakarta, Indonesia is also a credible alternative. I have been going to Tijuana, Mexico for over thirty years now and it is still an enjoyable getaway. For those who can afford to pay a little more there is always San Jose, Costa Rica and Panama City, Panama. I like variety so will still continue to visit the Far East and certainly intend to call on Pattaya and Angeles City in the near future.

Good report from the P bunny. As for mountain viewing, the most prominent mountain visible from AC is Mt. Arayat -- to the east. Pinatubo is to the West, but probably not visible unless you really know what you are looking for. I've climbed up to the caldera of Pinatubo, swam in it. It was an easy hike, and well worth the pesos and effort. Don't go during rainy season.

A good video from the US military and volcanologists reaction back in 1991 is on Youtube. There are also a lot of good pictures at Margarita Station. My hike pics pale in comparison to these.

Given that over the course of the last few years mongers have been trying to put the death nail into Angeles city because of all these bar raids and the changes that the city is going thru.
