Anyone who overpays just because they have the money was born into it, they didn't earn it. Anyone who earned that kind of money doesn't throw it away or overpay just because they can, look at Rockefeller who came from obscurity and obtained great wealth and power, he was extremely tight and did everything he could to spend less than the market rate for whatever he wanted. Even though he could afford to pay many times the market rate, only towards the end did he give money away for civil projects and even then it was a calculated move to divert public animosity away from him and an attempt to gain positive public opinion. I've worked hard all my life. Left home at 17, never asked anyone for a penny. So here I am in my 50's divorced. My kids will be done with school next year. The will be self sufficient soon. My observation has been that Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia have expended rapidly because of two main factors. The first is long term strategic vision. The second has been national investment in education.

Certainly in Malaysia and Singapore, both have been helped by national leaders who created long term strategic vision and then drove them for 30 years.

30 years ago the Phils, Vietnam and Thailand were similar in economies. Vietnam and Thailand understood that if they allowed large birth numbers they would not be able to grow economically because of the cost of education, medical care, and also high unemployment rates. Vietnam and Thailand promoted birth control and sex ed. You see what happened to them. They flourished. The Phils under the influence of the Catholic Church has gone downhill, sadly. But it is the huge number of unemployed young that also makes for fertile grounds (so to speak) for ISG visitors. As long as there is this big pool of unemployed there will be the employment that we enjoy, though the price may increase due to increased tourism and demand. If the Phils ever gets its act together (fat farking chance, unfortunately for the people) it would go the way of the other Southeast countries, and the hobby price would climb proportionately.

It's just North of San Fernando, the capital of La Union. Buses go from Angeles to San Fernando, about three hours, plus or minus, North of AC. You can find routes and approximate travel times online. The buses probably continue on past San Juan, but there are also jeepneys and maybe trikes that can get you from San Fernando to San Juan. Waves aren't great, but there are a number of resorts that rent boards. The surfing scenes in Apocalypse Now were filmed there. Beaches just a little North of the surfing area are decent. Some recent posts in the Other Areas thread have also reported on the pfp scene in areas near San Fernando, including Bauang, which was an American military outpost some years ago.

sorry this took so long. i have been very busy at work. had to go to loredo, texas last week. went across the border to nuevo laredo which was suddenly extremely safe. i will work on a report on that thread soon.

anyway on my fourth day in ac i went to the famous angeles fried chicken on marlim blvd for lunch. it tasted like kfc. i should have ordered my chicken crispy. i think it was quite good but nothing to die for.

that night i visited several bars recently mentioned here on isg:

There are MANY guys who work HARD to put aside "[CodeWord140] off" money each year to let off steam. So when they go on vacation. They do not want or need to sweat the small stuff. That is how they blow off steam to sort of speak.

There are many Guys back home. Who would say we ALL Are fools spending 1k on flight, flying 12 to 14 hrs to a 3rd world shit hole to pay for a girl. Having nothing tangible to show, throwing away good hard earned money. And only a fool would do so. So how one spends money is very subjective.
