Seems like a typical trip for many gents. Before you buy your ticket across the pond on, say, Cathay-Pacific, or the Cebu-Pacific flight, call your bank today (April 7) , and tell them you will be in filipines from April 8 to June 19. Not June 1 to June 18. They will unblock your overseas travel for the entire period. That way your Cathay-Pacific and Cebu-Pac flights should go sailing thru starting tomorrow when you start booking. Hotel reservations the same. Why the extra day (June 19)? What happens if your outbound flight back to your home country is delayed (weather, mechanical problem, etc) and you are stuck in Manila or Cebu overnight? You want your credit card to keep working, yes? You will need to book a hotel and buy food at a restraunt? Also give the bank the name of any country you are connecting thru (Taiwan, korea, HK) as part of your SE asian itinerary. You want the credit card to work in the taipei airport, yes? I'm sure there might be problems with this someday, but I haven't run into any yet.

Posts: 4567Actually, my question was about mongering, although I hate that word. It makes me think of fish monger.
So, when you go to Subic. Do you take a gal with you or do you find a gal in Subic, or maybe you have a regular.
If none of the above, what do you recommend?
My first trip this milennium I traveled in private car with a a businesswoman I met in mnl. Second trip I found a gal at one of the bars in Olongapo, but wasn't especially thrilled with the choices. Third time I took a gal from AC and had a lovely time. Actually, I had a lovely time every time, but the last time was especially lovely. X.

If you have to go to InternationalSexGuide to figure out how to use your credit card, maybe you should go back to your masturbation routine. Fk, I thought AV would drive me crazy with his posts about cell phone usage, but some of you.
If your credit card ever allows you to go to the Philippines, will you post something relevant? I certainly hope so.

They call it "fraud protection". When you get down to Manila, you will not be able to use your Chase credit cards. Call in advance tell them to remove the block before you leave stateside. They will ask for the dates you are traveling, and they will unblock it for those days.
Also, be aware that for every charge on your Chase card, there is a fee for overseas transaction. I have Chase and Capiltol One. Capitol One does not charge a fee for overseas use, so I use my Capitol One Card when traveling abroad. I am not trying to sell you guys Capitol One. It is just that, it is the only one that does not charge an overseas "interchange" fee.
The fees are about 2 to 3% of cost of transaction. Which if you are spending a lot, adds up at the end.
Thanks.

Only with small regional discount carriers like Air asia, Tiger, Cebu pacific etc mainly because people have made reservations with stolen credit cards before. The main problem was as I understand from cebu Pacific is when they billed the american credit card companies they refused to pay because the credit card owners disputed the charges and sometimes the charges were reversed making Cebu Pacific loose money because whoever made reservation has already completed the journey. So the visa and mastercard have opened a new program called visa verified and mastercard secured. With these programs you need to sign up (no fee) online. You need to put your password anytime your transaction is made through the cards.
I have done this and had no problems.

Hi! Aside from the mongering, I'm exploring the possibility of future extended stays (6 months) to retirement in Olongopo. I do not discount the possibility of taking a winner from AC if I run across one.

My very limited experience with with Subic (at least in this milennium) is that it's best to find a winner in AC and take her to Subic. What is your modus operani?

This morning I tried to book my flt from Hou / Manila via Singapore Airlines. The site kicked back my credit card info twice. I was getting ready to go to my bank when I received a call from Chase. They wanted to confirm that I was the one who in fact was trying to make the booking. This was done as a precaution since it was a large transaction. I confirmed the info and Chase told me to go ahead with the transaction again. Went back to the Singapore Airlines site and everything went smoothly. BTW, I will arrive in AC on May 11th and will be there for 3 weeks before I move on to Subic Bay / Olongapo. Happy days are here again.

As for the dollhouse dancer, does she sneak out 4 you? Does she takes days off? If she doesn't then you know the answer. If she does then hit that few more times if worth it and then reassess, I personally would want out anyway.

And in any case, the payment is processed by an external payment gateway, not CP (or 5J as we call them here.)
I did encounter another problem with the Cebu Pacific this time. I wanted to prepay excess baggage but the boxes to select excess baggage never appeared. When the same problem happened a 2nd time, I changed from the Google Chrome browser to Internet Explorer and it worked. As this only happened once, I'm not certain about this but if you encounter the same problem while using Google Chrome you might want to try Internet Explorer.
Well, PM me, if you find prices increasing when you query the next day.
And the better news, for those you are transitting. Look up Airphil express. For one way tickets, they have some amazingly low fares, coming to 150 US$ nett SIN-MNL or lower.

Posts: 66Cebu Pacific problems with Credit Cards and Web Browsers
For years I have also had problems paying with a credit card on Cebu Pacific. All were issued in the USA. Failures on multiple Visa and Mastercard cards. American Express worked first time the only 2 times I used it.
I booked 5 flights with Cebu Pacific in March and did not have a problem with my USA issued Chase Visa card. This was not the case a couple of years ago.
This Visa card has Visa Verified but even that did not work two years ago. Tracking down that problem it appeared that the transaction got to the bank before the Visa verified result did so the bank rejected the transaction. This now seems to be fixed.

When I posted my question, I was not at home with my fast broadband. I was using a shitty computer in an internet cafe in a different country and didn't want to open another online page such as google to do a search as this took 4-5mins just to download. I decided to stick to forum site I was using (ISG) but did do a quick search for the word on this forum and this was what came up: BTW: this took a few minutes to get also.

Note: Not very helpful as it still didn't explain what Asawa really meant.
But thank you Red Kilt for the translation and being the understanding person.
Cheer and beers to you.
