Apples. For some reason you could not get fresh apples in the PI in 1984-86. I bought some at the commissary while on temp duty. Had a few bar girls visit in the afternoon and took a couple of apples instead of tip. Wasn't supposed to give them to the locals (black market item) but nobody seemed too concerned.

1. They did not initially ask us for much money,
2. There was no asking for extra (tip, food, drinks),

I was first in PI from 1976-1979 while in the Navy and stationed at Subic Bay.

At that time my monthly income was $700 and the peso was 7 Pesos to the dollar. So my income in pesos was 4900 Pesos per month.

Prices were as follows:

Overnight = 50 PESOS

Short time = 26 PESOS

well, if I pay 1,350 or 1,500 pesos for LT does not really matter to me. Even if some guys might disagree because the relative increase is about 11%, it is IMHO still a great deal, isn't it!? And the 3,000 pesos are only related to showgirls, or am I mistaken?

Yup, the increases are expected as time goes by. Even my beer at happy hours have gone up at some bars. And 3000p is still thankfully confine to spotlight /showgirls.

I think most of us are really forgetting one major hidden increase cost of doing business in AC-- the US-PI exchange rate as it has taken a nose dive lately and if you spend enough here or stay long enough, the exchange rate will kill you at this moment.

Perimeter road bars still run between 1200 and 1400. I think the BM is speaking of a few bars on Fields that held the line on 1300 peso bf's until this past October they raised their prices to 1500. Most bars on Fields were at 1500 or more, recent increases were at La Pasha group bars and Gecko's. There may still be some left on Fields at lower prices. Suggest increases reflect the increased salary costs for girls, where not long ago a dancer was paid 130 to 165 per day, most bars have had to increase their pay to 200 p and up. That's an increase of at least 21% if we are into ratio's.

Also, many of the ladies I talked to prefer koreans as they are big spenders and again tried to get them to be BF.
So really depends as I suspect that a few may not go with koreans or negros but alot of others would from what I've seen.

Yes, 3,000 is for showgirls and models in the high end clubs, however, more and more places are charging 2,500 for "spotlight girls". Take Golden Nile and GN executive club, which has some of the best looking women in Angeles. It seams like every girl there is a spotlight girl, so I am often paying 2,500.

Picked up a nice chick in one the Fields bars a few nights ago. She told me a few things that turns her off with customers. First, “negroes” (as she called them) have a reputation for having big dicks so she won’t go with them. She wants to protect her money making equipment, so if a negro asks her to go barfine she will then be “on the mens” (ie menstruation).

Maybe not, but barfines have gone up significantly since I got here 6 years ago. Back then, it was 53 pesos to the US$, and the barfine in AC was 1, 200 to 1, 400 pesos. So, if we use the average price of 1, 300, then a barfine was $25 six years ago.

So, if your income in US$ has increased by 12% a year for the past 6 years, then barfine prices have not increased at all relative to your income. Unfortunately, very few Americans can boast such increases in income continuosly for 6 years, so things have gone up quite a bit for us. But if you are Australian, well, I am sure you would have a much better perspective.
