    Great Reading

Your feed back was entertaining to read and insightful. Yes some bars will get over on you and thats why we mongers must be one step ahead to see that it not happen. But when they get me its usually not much and thats when you have to smile and say to yourself. They got me and laugh it off and learn from that experience. Never take more money than you can afford to lose when you walk to the bars.

    July trip - Day 2

Day 2 – Zebra goes home. She says she’ll be back tonight. Like a fool, I believe her. I go to SM Mall for lunch. I eat a Big Mac Value Meal at McDonald’s. It used to be 99 pesos. Now, it’s 128 pesos. I go back to the hotel to do some work on the computer. Now, my main squeeze in Angeles texts me. My main squeeze will be referred to as Tiger from here on. So Tiger says she’s coming. She shows up. She looks bad. She’s lost weight and she didn’t have any to lose. She says “Where’s my pasalubong?” (Translation: Where’s my present?) She says she needs medicine. So off we go to JJ supermarket together. I buy her medicine, milk, and the red tide pads. Yes, that’s right she’s on her red tide. She says she’ll stay but I tell her to go home. I tell her about Zebra. They actually know each other, although not friends. Tiger goes home with the milk and the medicine.

I go to Gecko’s at around 5pm. I ask someone where is my girlfriend No.1? Her exact answer “She flew away!” I see. So I ask “Where is my girlfriend No.2?” “She also flew away!” I see again. It must be migrating season. And I thought it was monsoon season. I’m getting hungry so I grab something to eat at Chow King. I eat there because it’s convenient and not too expensive. But the food sucks. I don’t recommend it. I go to Camelot happy hour. Now, this place is dead. They don’t have enough dancers nor as many waitresses as before. I go to Typhoon happy hour. The lineup is not bad. The mamasan comes over to me. (Remember her from Day 6?) She knows me from before. She looks at me all smiling. She wants a drink of course. I say no. She walks away in disgust. Whatever. The mamasan’s got it all wrong. Her attitude should be “Welcome back to Typhoon. How can we make you happy?” But it’s “Welcome back to Typhoon. Where is my drink?” She should know better.

I’m not trying to take a shot at the papasan. Maybe I am. But he’s never approached me to say hi. Maybe I’m not worthy. And I’m sure he remembers me from last year. I spent a lot of money last year in Typhoon. In contrast, I have one drink at Coyote Ugly. I don’t go there too often because the interior isn’t to my liking. But the papasan thanks me on the way out. I’m guessing it was the papasan. That actually took me by total surprise. Maybe I should be going to Coyote more and not Typhoon.

Anyway, I leave Typhoon. I’m walking up Fields not really knowing where to go. Just outside Doll House, I meet my girlfriend No.1 from Gecko’s. She’s the one who flew away. From here on, she will be referred to as Hamster. So Hamster seems very happy to see me. I ask her where she is headed. She says back to Gecko’s. I didn’t ask her “So, how was your boom boom?” I ask her if she wanted to have a drink. I thought she would say no. But she says yes. So off we go to Atlantis. Atlantis is a good date club, not a good place to go by yourself. I would feel like a midget there by myself. Finally, I have a date. It’s a good atmosphere. The music’s great and all. And Hamster’s adjusting my shirt as if she were my girlfriend. I’m still a little curious about her boom boom. But I dare not ask. We go back to Typhoon to show the mamasan that finally I have a date. But I cannot find her. We go to Champagne. This place also sucks. The Champagne Group sucks now. It’s almost 11pm now. Hamster has to go back to Gecko’s. Her friends are waiting for her. The day shift finishes at 11pm. So like a good gentleman I take her back to Gecko’s. I didn’t try to squeeze in a quickie. Now I’m dateless again. I go to the new Fantasy Club. The place is doing well. I have a drink and then go home.

Of course, Zebra never shows up. In fact, I never see her again. A lot of texting occurs though throughout the week. I actually believe she spent the night with some other guy. But that’s fine with me.

    July trip - Day 1

Finally, I have Day 1 and Day 2 reports ready. There are a little long…

For your information, this trip report is not about meat-hunting. It contains my thoughts and observations about my week in Angeles. Also, I don’t recommend that you do the same. But I did what I had to do because I was on a very limited budget this time. To save money I set a number of rules for myself like avoid this bar, ignore this girl, don’t do this, and don’t do that. I ended up breaking a few. Two of the major rules were no barfine and no ladies drinks. I stuck to the first one. But the latter I couldn’t.

Also, I changed the girls’ names to animal names. I don’t mean any disrespect in any way. I just thought it might make the stories a little more interesting. I refrained from using real names because I don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun. I think it would be disappointing to later realize and think “So it was her with that guy!” What you don’t know, don’t hurt you, I guess.

Day 1 – So I arrive at NAIA. I take the airport metered taxi to Swagman Hotel in Ermita. The fare is 204 pesos. I give the driver 220 pesos. He doesn’t look happy. Whatever. I have some time until the 3:30pm bus to Angeles so I go to La Café. It’s about a 5 minute walk from Swagman. It’s early afternoon so there aren’t that many people which suited me perfectly. This girl approaches me. She says “Hi.” I tell her to go away. Five minutes later, she approaches again. Again I tell her to go away. Ten minutes later, she slides into the seat right next to me. I had no chance to tell her to go away. She doesn’t say anything. I just watch the sports on the TV monitor. While pretending to watch the sports, I secretly check her out from the corner of my eyes. She’s actually not bad. She looks pretty but partially it’s the make-up. She looks a little older than the girls in Angeles.

The whole time I keep thinking the waitress will come over and say “Would you like to buy her a drink?” Then I realized this isn’t Angeles. The girls aren’t partners in crime. They aren’t working in cahoots like in Angeles. I think this is one of the big merits of La Café. No ladies drinks. But some girls ask for a drink. But it’s a regular drink, of course, not a ladies drink. But this one didn’t ask for a drink. I end up talking to her. I just tell her the truth. I tell her I’m waiting for the bus to go to Angles, thinking it will make my life easier. She says she’s worked there before. Then she says the girls in Angeles are bad. They are uneducated, have big bellies, and lie a lot. She may have a point. I’m sure Manila girls never lie. (Sarcasm) Then out of the blue she says she’ll go to Angeles with me. I never knew I invited her. I ask her several times whether she is serious. She says she is. But I’m on a limited budget and I have my main squeeze in Angeles. I might have taken up on the offer if I had more money because it would have been something different. I’m not sure how much money she would have expected, if any.

Finally, I’m in Angeles. I check in at the hotel. It’s almost 6pm. I don’t want to ruin anyone’s business. But the staff at Natalia Apartelle could not be more unfriendly. I didn’t stay there this time. But I’ve stayed there in the past. Despite the good location, I think it’s overpriced. I go to the front desk when I stayed there. This is what the female clerk said to me. “Yes?” with a smirk. No greeting whatsoever. To me it sounded more like a “What do you want?” And it wasn’t like I gave them a hard time with unreasonable requests. Maybe they are Filipino owned. Anyway, enough hotel bashing for today…

I have a drink here and there and then I end up in Agasya. Here’s my comment on Agasya. I really want to clear this up. Many here in the forum think Agasya girls only go out with Asians. The place is Korean-owned so naturally they prefer Koreans and/or Asians. That’s why the girls work there in the first place. But it doesn’t mean that they won’t go out with non-Asians. They do. I know a few girls who have gone out with Americans. It doesn’t mean they like you. They may only do short time. But most of them do only short time anyway. So I wouldn’t take that as an insult. However, I hear they do expect a tip. Not only that, the barfine is higher than elsewhere. And for those two reasons, I’ll only go there for a drink and nothing more. If you do go there, be careful with the ladies drinks. The girls like to order a bottled drink. I think it costs 390 pesos. Of that the girl gets only 110 pesos. Yeah, not only did I do my Agasya homework, the owner is also greedy, if I may say so. Here I go again with the bashing.

Again, you should really really (really 2 times intentionally) be careful with the ladies drinks here. The girl will mumble something to the waitress. And then the waitress will bring let’s say a bottle of Cali. She’ll never tell you it costs 390 pesos. You’ll find out later when you see the bill. So if you want to buy a drink, you should ask the girl yourself and then ask the waitress how much it costs. If I buy a drink there, I tell the girl “Is ice tea ok for you?” This comes from a person who’s been fooled in the past. I think the regular ladies drink is 195 pesos which is higher than other bars also. But apart from a few extremely pretty girls, I find this place very boring. Every hour, it’s 10 minutes of show and then 50 minutes of nothing going on except for a lousy 5 or 6 dancers literally standing on the stage. I leave after one drink and a model show.

Later, I text my main squeeze in Angeles. She should say she’ll come over. But she doesn’t. She says she’s sick. So I’m thinking I’ll be sleeping alone tonight. But to make a long story short, I end up with a girl I know from last year. I’ll call her Zebra. I meet her while walking outside. She’s still on duty as a waitress. But she tells me to wait around the corner. She shows up after 5 minutes in her regular clothes. At first, she says the mamasan told everyone to go home early because some rich dude bought tons of tequila shots for all the girls and they all got drunk. But later she changes her story and says she stopped duty to be with me. I think the first story was more like it. Zebra talks a little too much which to me is a sign that she is one of the less honest ones. Maybe I’m being silly expecting honesty in Sin City. At least she’s not all shy and boring like some others. We end up talking a lot.

    Anyway, end of Day 1...

Typhoon seems to me an almost perfect example of what goes wrong with AC bars. The layout is fine (I used to like it as Bananitas), and there are some pretty girls, but somehow it always feels a bit off. No rapport between dancers and customers. Few smiles and not much fun. Generally this is the sign of a lousy manager and/or mamasan. I don't know which is this case, but after trying it at least three times in the last couple weeks, sorry, it sucks.

    Juliana and PinkLady2

Last night my live-in fucklet and I went to Juliana. This is a bar on First Street here in Angeles City. My fucklet said one of her hundreds of cousins works there and she wanted to go see her. I also was interested in checking out this bar, since it's away from the main entertainment area.

You enter the club and there are about fifteen or so girls waiting at the entrance for customers. The way this bar works is you have to spend a minimum of 500 pesos per table, on either booze, food, or both. We had a couple of appetizers and the food was pretty good. They have live shows at this club and the singers did a great job. Last night the headliner was a Pinay movie star named Maricar de la Fuente. I have no idea who she is but she seemed very popular with the crowd, which consisted of either rich Filipino men or Japanese and Korean tourists. I seemed to be the only non-asian in the entire club.

The men there were just sitting and drinking with the girls. It's definitely a place that Asian men would prefer more, since they seem to like these kinds of places where you just sit around and spend money on girls without getting anything in return. But the live shows were cool and I would recommend it as a good change from the bars on Fields.

There is also the PinkLady2 club which is upstairs, but we just stuck our heads in there. It looked like a American styled strip club. The price there is 300 pesos minimum consumption per person.

    July trip - Day 6

This is Day 6 from my July trip. Some of it may not make sense since I’m doing a George Lucas Star Wars thing here. I’ll try to post the other days if I get around to it.

Day 6 – I go to Typhoon at happy hour. The mamasan sits next to me. I think her name is Mama Lyn. She’s the one with the glasses. She likes her lady’s drinks. The waitress comes right over and asks “Would you like to buy her a drink?” I shake my head. Another waitress approaches. I tell the mamasan “Oh, she’s very pretty.” Maybe I shouldn’t have said that. The mamasan tells her to sit next to me. I say “No, it’s ok.” But it’s too late. She’s already sitting next to me. The waitress comes over a second time. “Would you like to buy her a drink?” This time I say “No.” I expect the girl sitting next to me to walk away. But she stays. I don’t think she was expecting a drink. I think she was just bored. There weren’t very many customers at the time. I talk to her a little. Before I leave I give the girl a little something for her dinner. I don’t go back to Typhoon this trip. The mamasan is annoying.

I go to Carousel later in the evening. The waitress sits next to me and points out this girl on the stage. In my opinion, she’s the best talent I’ve seen this trip. She’s quite tall, light-skinned, but face a little like a duck. But I saw a major problem with her attitude. She’s not really dancing and has her arms crossed most of the time. Her facial expression was like “I could be doing better than this!” Normally, I don’t pimp out girls but duck face girl’s number is 208. I hope someone will “break” her attitude.

There was another dancer, probably the tallest girl there. She reminded me of a giraffe, like a giraffe dancing in the Serengeti, very tall and lean. I see both line-ups in Carousel and then go to La Pasha, the HQ of the Pasha group. In my opinion, the Pasha group is the best if you are looking for a date. The girls rotate on the stage so that you can see everyone. The problem with Doll House and Atlantis is that they have too many girls. And you can’t see all of them. That’s why for me they are more of a place to go WITH a date. Also, the girls there order a bottled drink like Gatorade if you buy them a drink. It was 250 pesos the last time I checked. It might be more now. I didn’t go to Doll House this time. That’s a nice dinner in a hotel restaurant. Anyway, back to La Pasha…But La Pasha is not as good as Carousel. I start to miss the giraffe and the duck-faced girl in Carousel. So I head back to Carousel.

Watch your step as you enter. Right after the curtains, there is a step down which isn’t marked. I almost tripped. (I hope “Mr. Pasha” will be as kind to put a bright yellow line at the step.) The dancers on the stage laughed, of course. Yeah, I’ll do anything for a laugh. So I’m sitting down sipping on my beer at the same seat as before. Maybe the waitress thinks I’m crazy for returning. Then I notice a third girl on the stage. She didn’t remind me of any animal. I’ll just call her Bear to keep the theme rolling. She wasn’t super attractive but she had a very pleasant face. So among the Giraffe, the Duck, and the Bear, I would have barfined the Bear. But I’m not allowed to barfine anyone this trip. Rules are rules. I go home for the night. Tiger is waiting for me in bed.

I agree with this post. If the owner or manager is posting here he knows all the complaints and will try to fix it. I would call it a good customer service even though self promotion cannot be denied.

I don't think any of us do, but usually it's so obvious that it's just kind of laughable.

One thing I really like about AC is how friendly the owners and managers are. A lot of them make a real effort to talk to the customers and make sure they're happy. You could spend years in the bars in Thailand and not meet as many as you would in a couple weeks here. So I'd welcome their input here, as long as they identify themselves.

I would be all for it as long as the source is transparent.

There are already similar threads, e.g. Giotto's Lodge in Thailand, the Medellin Mansion in Colombia, etc.

I just don't like it when owners/managers pose as fellow mongers.

There are also still many bars on fields with bar fine prices lower than P1500 (not only verified in person by me, but also can be found on the consumer pricing website acbarprices.com). It is the larger group bars that have seen to raise their bar fine prices to P1500, P2000 and P3000, most non group bars have their bar fine prices in the range of P1300 to P1350 (and again some lower)
Imo, I don't think 10 pesos and 150 pesos difference for beer and barfine make much of a difference to mongers. We will go to a bar with a better reputation and pay the larger amount. I think thats why LIA also has business even though they are way the fuck out there and they are not cheap for perimeter.

    New Bars on Perimeter-Seperate Thread?

I agree with X Man. An owner or bar manager could add a lot of insights into what is happening in AC. I don't know Jackson's policy on advertising, but there is some in the various forums, low key, yes, but adverts they are. There is a classified thread in this forum. Speaking for myself, I would not be offended by a seperate thread for bar owners, hotel owners, restaurants, travel agencies in AC that want to advertise specials such as happy hours, pool parties, mid week two night stay specials, transportation deals, or anything else that might interest the visitor to AC. I would appreciate the info. You would know that you were looking at people who are promoting their product or service, and any misleading info posted would be open to forum members to comment on. I think a thread like that would be in line with the mission of the guide, to share info. My two cents on the subject, as an infrequent poster, and unfortunately an infrequent visitor to AC.

    What do you gentlemen think?

I went to Candy Bar a couple weeks ago and I wasn't nearly as impressed as you were. It's a very small bar and the girls really weren't anything special IMHO. But I will go back again today, earlier in the afternoon, and check it out one more time.

Bar Fines roll in at only 1200 Pesos versus 1500 to 3000 Pesos in the Fields Ave vicinity.
So, are you the owner of Bada Bing or do you have some sort of financial interest in it? It would give your posts more credibility if you would disclose what kind of relationship you have with this bar. Since you have such a glowing opinion of Bada Bing, I will go this afternoon to check it out (after Candy Bar). But, 1200 peso barfine on Perimeter really isn't a good deal, considering many bars have barfines at 1000-1100 pesos. You might want to lower your price!

Anyways, I agree that Fields is generally not worth it price-wise, but you must admit that the women on Fields are at least a couple notches above the girls on Perimeter. To make my point, here is a girl I met last night at Dollhouse. Name's Myla, 18 years old, her BF is 3,000 pesos, a rip off, I agree, but I don't think I've seen any non-cherry girls that come close to her in any Perimeter bars. But correct me if I'm wrong.
