Frustrating, yes, but they are nice on the eyes and I suppose those with time and patience can turn them. I'm still getting email from a former-cherry girl from EDSA. I didn't turn her, but someone did.

ps: for the same price, much easier to get a hotel with a pool in AC. Neither place has a beach unless you want to try your luck in Manila Bay. I've seen Thai swim in Pattaya Bay, I've seen Filipinos swim in Olongapo Shit River, but I've never seen a Filipino swim in Manila Bay.

Your excellent post is like a list of reasons why I tend to give AC a body swerve these days. I got fed up of dodging scam artists in the streets and weeding out cherry girls (always seems to be the ones I had my eye on) from girls on the rag (amazing how often they seem to start bleeding as soon as they hit your room), from potential runners, from nutters, from pissheads ..from..oh the list is endless. Some one ought to devise a printed tick-the-box yes/no checklist that could be handed out to any potential BF's. It would save a lot of hassle.

But saying that I have had some tremendous experiences in AC (but many more duffers I'm afraid) and can understand the appeal of the place, particularly to those who have a limited amount of time or a restricted budget. P4P and hotels etc can be appreciably more expensive in Manila, although, in general, the quality is much higher and the experience better.

ok fine. Angeles city might be a dump to some guys, or a shithole to others, fine with that, but lets assume I arrive from a 18 hours flight and looking for some fun. I wouldnt recomand anybody to spend his precious holiday time at a place like Makati. Remember, this thread is for info about Angeles city. Specially for newbies. Yes you can buy at 7/11 beer for 24 pesos and then , as you mentioned bring it to your hotel in Makati, City garden, right? Yeah, excellent idea. Last time I paid 3000p for a room, maybe more I dont remember. I guess it was more, like 4000p, because I actually wanted a room with a size that alows me not to jump right into my bed once I enter from the floor. I like rooms where Im able to walk around the bed if I like to sue the CR :D. I live here, 15 minutes from Makati and on the weekend I will certainly allways be out either going to AC or going to Subic. Why is that? because I certainly get more pops for my bucks, have more selection of girls, have much better value at hotels Im staying. Better pubs (shanos for example) and last not least BETTER AIR and less noise. You dont have that in Makati and you dont have it in Manila. Only place worth to go is Rogues in Makati and if you go there you will see why. Many guys go there, specially expats, good prices, pretty girls. I agree on that. However if you go to Angeles city your more in a holiday mood. YOu can walk around. you can f..ck around all day and all night. Surely you can get laid also in Makati, but for more BUCKS!!!
So, I dont know about you and Mo or Dave and its not my business either, cause I certainly dont go to Angeles city to date barowners LOL!!! I go there only because the fact that I get more pops for the bucks and its partytime over there.

You go to the bars in Makati. First they all small. Secound, look at the dancers. They just busy with themselves. They wont look at you. They look at each other and think how maganda they are. Ok, same you find with the suplada spotlightdancers in dollhouse or specially Atlantis. Fine, touche, no need to be there while you have 99 other bars loaded with girls waiting for you.

Wrong info, you can talk and talk and talk in here and you free to post anything you like, but its a fact, that places like Manila, Makati or Edsa cant beat Angeles city in terms of prices and more pops for your bucks.

I surely like to go there too, but not if Im on holiday and Im definetly on holiday on the weekend :)

I love Cebu, Dumagette, Bacolod, but you cant have evrything on one place and Angeles city is a place from where you start to explore other places in the Philippines. Most of the guys here like to have fun and Angeles city is a fun place to be. Thats for sure.

Yes, about 7 or 8 different routes going to different parts of Clark including the airport. Most originate at the main gate across the street from jollybee next to Fields ave. A few originates from Mabalacat. The price was 12.5 the last time I rode the jeeps but it could be more or less within a few pesos depending on the distance, gas price, and km rate the gov changes every few months.

I also don't think you can classify one city as this or that. I am not very expirenced, but have been to Manila, Angeles, Cebu, and Subic. Also, all over upper Luzon on a bike with a BG.

Had both good and bad in all of those places. Cebu had both the best and the worst in terms of expirences. Manila was good, but expensive and I don't get into girls tossing my salad like they owe me money.

Angeles? Ah what to say that hasn't already been said. Not much to do but eat, sleep, drink, and fuck. Is that so bad? I think you just have to determine what type of vacation you want.

Yes there are plenty of things to do in the rest of the country but the original poster wanted to compare AC to Thailand. Not Thailand to Philippines. I spend more time in Thailand than Philippines and when I am in Philippines it is normally only for a week in AC. Same again this year.

Maybe I am reading this wrong but imho you can not compare Thailand to AC that is like comparing Pattaya to PI. AC is small part of PI not fair to compare AC to Thailand. Maybe you can compare AC to Pattaya or maybe AC to BKK but not Thailand to AC.

As others have said, you should be able to get a taxi at the airport for around 300 pesos. If you already have a hotel booked, they probably have a pickup service from the airport for 300 pesos or so also and you can contact them to have someone pick you up. The 300 pesos is a ripoff, but that's AC transportation and you really aren't going to get a much better price on your own. The ride is only about 10 minutes or so.

Ac in my opinion is a great place to monger, and I follow a couple of rules:

In the bar. Always interview the girl thoroughly before barfine. Generally my approach is:

- I see a nice girl in the bar. First ask her if she barfines and whether on menstruation. If all is ok, then try to establish rapport and buy a LD if necessary. I see no reason to buy a LD if the girl is not available for boom boom, but that is my personal cheap charlie preference.

- Always check the bill every time you are served a drink (also some bars like blue nile have a dual price LD policy (girls will always order the 300 peso LD unless you intervene)

In the street.

- Do not talk to any Filipino men, period. Don't be rude, but say "sorry not interested" and move on.

- don't ever pick up a streetworker. Its just not worth the risk, Beware of the "can my friend come to your hotel" scam.

- Always keep one hand firmly on your wallet / mobile phone at all times (hands in pockets is my preferred mode of travel) including in trikes / jeepney, etc.

- Do not walk around the darker areas of AC alone at night. (This trip 2 bargirls told me they were robbed at knifepoint on perimeter road, another one said her farang neighbours apartment was robbed just off macarthur highway). Catch a trike, otherwise its just not worth the risk.

- Check your pockets before you re-enter your hotel. Scammers may plant drugs on you (a popular police set-up)

- Do not buy anything from the streets like cigarettes (could be scam where drugs are hidden in the packet. Police setup)

- Do not give money to anyone on the street (if this involves taking your wallet out in the open. Could be snatched from you anytime)

- Do not let any beggars / street kids hold your arm (there could be a filiipino with a camera taking a photo of you. Alleging child abuse. Police setup)

Above all, smile and have fun! The girls feed off your vibe and give better service when you are a happy punter.

This approach has served me well so far, anyone got any other tips for living the AC lifestyle?

I read somewhere that one can get attacked from behing in AC!

IN Thailand (Pattaya) too there are too much crimes against foreigners.
That means even if one tries to play it safe there is no guarantee.

Hmm, I took the same flight and there were taxi booths on the right (asking me if I wanted a taxi) as you exit customs, also there were plenty of other taxi touts when you exit.
