Paradise bar opened their doors earlier today at 5pm, but by 7:15pm the "authorities" closed them down AGAIN.

Yet another raid, courtesy of the local PNP (station 4) was done/conducted on Friday night early in the evening hours. The bar that was "hit" was Paradise. 2 mamasans and one girl were taken into custody. As of yesterday they had not been released as apparently on the weekends they cannot have an agecheck done (this is where they use a dentist to check the girls teeth to determine age. This at most is 70% effective). My sources tell me that the girl in question is 19 years old and looks it (meaning that she does look less than 18). Paradise bar will not be open until Monday at the earliest.
This is just another BS raid that is killing the local economy (bars) and driving away potential tourists. I have been seeing less and less tourists on the streets, especially Fields Ave. These raids seem to be occurring with greater frequency and this will certainly lead to harder times for the bars of AC. Years ago and numerous times since then I have been told that Pampangans (the local province of which AC is included) are the cockroaches of the Philippines and with each "out for themselves" or extortion attempt that goes on, just goes to prove that statement is so very true (yes there are exceptions, but on a general basis the statement is so very true imo, which is based on years of living here)

I agree with the rating of the PB and the centralpark, formerly knwn as the chicago park hotel with a nice bar.now moved into a parking lot for the lowlifes.l stay allways at orchid inn. They qoute the rooms in pesos and give a 10% discount and have a quite stable internet connection either in the room or at the poolside. They have also a free internet terminal to be used by any guest, while PB charges for that, well maybe the owner is american jewish, hehehe.Tomorow l go to Subic at 8.45am with the SouthernStar bus.l will stay at the new wildorchid hotel over there and report how things improve.
Weather in ac is very nice,no rain, clear skies,a bit hot at the afternoon though.

Posts: 213PB Hotel allows you to pay cash in US dollars so you can avoid the conversion rate ripoff. Even at $48 for Oahu Wing, which is better IMHO than the other building as it is quieter and no walk of shame, PB is still better value than ABC, Wild Orchid etc.
Clarkton Hotel is a better deal for a nice hotel, but it is a little ways up the road from the main district (although it is right on Perimeter Road in the middle of its own, lesser known, bar district).

I stayed in the $48 dollar room a month ago, the problem with this hotel is they quote you dollar price for the rooom but when you settle up, you have to pay in peso, and the exchange rate is in their favour.
Have got to say though the hotel quality is fantastic, and just the mention that you are staying in the Pacific Breeze to the girls, seems to be the tipping point for them to go with you on BF.
