Posts: 2374The best times of any place is when you first go there, and like it. On subsequent, return visits you get jaded: its like a drug you need more to get off, til eventually you make posts about the place gone downhill, which it has -- for you. But, for a new person, his initial reaction is like yours was.

It all depends what people are looking for and Angeles is no different from other tourist traps in that respect. I like it cheap and cheerful, just like the women themselves. Losers want the plastic and the cheap lipstick on their Little Miss Pretties.

But I was caught like that before and now am older and wiser (I think) I have regulars who bring their friends and life much better.
But you can with your cash what you want but some of us prefer to make it go further (more bang for your buck LOL).

And I really doubt that this "groupspeak is often coming from people who haven't hit these places in years, if ever" as you say. Personally I have been to SE Asia countless times, also recently. This year two times Pattaya and one time AC for example.
Times have changed and in the good old days it was better, period. But nevertheless it's still worth going there. If you adapt to the changes you can still have a reasonably good time. And that's one of the reasons that people are still going there. Another reason is that a lot of people are new or relatively new to the scene and therefore cannot compare it to the old times.

BTW, your name? I took a favela tour in Rio many years ago to Rocinha. Ate dinner with Great Train Robber Ronald Biggs and hang glided too. Some great trips to Rio, but the inhabitants of Rocinha didn't strike me as having the disposable income to vacation in Angeles so I'll guess you aren't a native of Rocinha.

Consider this: In the 80's, the Eastern Bloc was considered off limits, a place where the women were old and ugly (as portrayed in Western media). In the 90's it opened up and revealed to the world, the most beautiful white women on the planet. And they flooded Western Europe, selling their bodies for less than the native populace would. Even now, these girls make up the bulk of the WG workforce from Rome to Hamburg. Who saw that coming? Not me. I never imagined my cousin would adopt an orphan from Russia or I would marry a lovely Hungarian and start a family with her.
In the 90's, Colombia was assumed to be a dangerous place where only suicidal people would go. Now, its a serious mongering destination known for the beauty of its women. Who saw that coming?
Somewhere down the road, North Korea will implode, and those South Korean mongers that seem to get some much spite here will be up there trading packets of noodles and cigarettes for sex. That is, until the Westerners show up and ruin it for them by paying them in hard currency.
Look what happened this week: The US finally became a net exporter of oil. Qatar left OPEC, which is collapsing along with oil prices. The Persian Gulf, formerly rich on oil will someday find itself broke and no longer able to import everything they need (and they do import everything and the wealthier Gulf States import the labor that actually does all the work). The sand won't grow food, and women will go to odd measures to feed themselves. Look what happened to Venezuela, formerly rich on oil. I was in Bogota on Labor Day weekend, and immediately engaged girls from Caracas. The same could happen in the Mideast. Be ready for it. Sure, Islam is strong there, but Islam doesn't fill your belly or pay your light bill.
The PRC, having made great progress, is about to shoot itself in the foot as it turns back towards the authoritarian communism that once defined it. Comparisons are already being made to the last days of the Soviet Union, which overstepped its economic capabilities just as China is doing now, trying to extend its economic and military clout in Asia. This won't work out well.
The world is changing, yes and we need to get used to it and embrace the opportunities it will offer. I remember the Iran Hostage Crisis, and I am looking forward to punting with some ladies in the Former Islamic Republic of Iran (if I live long enough).

The reason why things have changed is the expansion of the global economy. Every prick on earth is now richer than ever before. Unemployment in the Philippines is now 2% officially and 0% in Thailand. Bar wenches have a lot more options now, besides laying on their backs. The growing middle class has meant mongers from Korea, China and India are invading countries looking for pussy. The old white cunts in their flip flops, wife beaters and fading tattoos can reminisce all they want. This is the new world order. So everyone better adapt.

It really doesn't matter how or what it was years ago unless you want to live in the past. It only matters what is going on today.
Today in AC I am getting more action than I can handle.
Btw, the only thing you are going to get hanging around or talking to old timers is OLD!

The negative comments about ANY destination discussed here, whether it be Thailand, the Philippines or Brazil, hit me as "groupspeak", often coming from people who haven't hit these places in years, if ever. If you can't enjoy it, then just badmouth it to the people who can. The comments deriding AC (which I admit I've never been to) are interchangeable with the negative comments on any other threads, whether they be concern Pattaya or Rio (or even Batam).
Let me ask you something. If these places were as bad as all the negative comments suggest, why would people still keep going there?
