So when I finished diving somewhere, I would go to AC for like 2 days before heading to Thailand. Eventually that flight got canceled, but during that time I picked up a girlfriend that I would go back to see along with American friends that live there. The place is so boring in the day that all my friends do is go to Kokomo's and hang out, then walk to Margarita Station and hang out. Then they go home to do whatever, and later on it is back to Kokomo's. In Pattaya it is sometimes hard to catch up with friends because people are always busy doing something, but we have our regular days that we meet up to bowl, play pool, play cards, and play softball. And there are 100,000 places to meet up, unlike the Kokomo's and Margarita Station deal of AC.

So most of my time in AC is spent either waiting for night time, or waiting until it is time to get out of there. It got to where my girlfriend would just take the bus and meet me in the airport in Manila for us to head off to another city. Eventually I broke up with her. Last couple of trips to PI, I haven't even gone to AC. I have just stayed in Manila. I have friends that love AC though and swear by it. But they will admit that if you go from Pattaya to AC then it will be anticlimactic. For someone that has to travel far to get to these parts I always recommend they do both so they can decide for themselves. The flight is only 3 hours and it is really cheap if you buy it enough time in advance on like Cebu Pacific or Air Asia.

Sorry to burst your bubble. From my experience Koreans are highly exclusive. Partly due to language, they don't tend to speak english well, but also due to cultural reasons. Sure they're also quite respectful and will accept your beer with appreciation, but to "join in" with any group of koreans. Good luck on that one.

HCM can't compare to anything even remotely sex tourism based, its a backpackers paradise is about all it is. Haven't been to PP but from what I heard its a bit rough around the edges, both in the quality of girls and the scene itself. Bangkok should be compared with Manila, two big cities fighting it out. So lets compare Pattaya to Angeles. How does each compare to these topics: safety, transportation, food, hotels, massages, bars, communication and girls. Under girls lets touch on quality and prices.

Safety: For me Pattaya is a very safe place to travel around, not once have I ever felt threatened.

Transportation: I found almost any form of transportation fair and pretty much on time depending on traffic. The baht bus scene really opens up a wide area. The overall transportation network in Thailand is fantastic.

Food: A wide variety to be found in Pattaya, nothing much to complain about with the Aussie beef being imported to keep the burgers from tasting odd.

Hotels: Everything from dirt cheap to a bit on the expensive side for everyones budget in Pattaya.

Massages: I do like a good long massage by a pretty girl to break up the afternoons, Pattaya has plenty of these places.

Bar scene: I do like the regular bar scene with cute girls to keep me company and or be taken away for some fun, Pattaya is loaded with them.

Communication: I'll be honest here, I do like short conversations with women but at times I just can't stand having to listen to them. Not being able to communicate can be both a blessing and a curse. I'm not too upset that its hard to talk to some girls in Pattaya.

And finally the girls: Pattaya has them in spades, high quality and lower quality in every nook and crannie. Some are cheap and can be had for all night romps for $40 usd or so, others are high priced and expect a higher payout closer to $100 and rarely want to stay the entire night. I can take any of them, I don't limit myself to top tier when some of the mid tier girls are so much fun.

No argument from me. I totally agree it is a shit hole. However, it has a charm to it that keeps beckoning me to return. I like the fact that the girls speak English, there's an "anything goes" feel to the place and there some fine hotels now. The ABC Hotel is so nice, that I actually consider staying there a holiday in itself, not taking into account the girls.
