I understand your point, and would agree with it, except I don't patronize the bars from which the Koreans get their girls, and I still continue, advanced years notwithstanding, to have a reasonably good time in the city, and don't get refused very often; and believe me, I'm neither young, nor good looking, nor any young woman's idea of a "good catch. " So in that sense, the behavior of the Koreans doesn't affect me. I come to have a good time, and I continue to be able to do so. And that's really all I meant.

No argument there. I'm guessing a lot of these guys imagine themselves having access to a harem while making money at the same time. Of course the reality is quite different. I doubt that most bars–unless secretly owned by the well-connected–make much of anything in the way of net profits. I've also been told (with zero substantiation on my part) that the Burgos bars continue to exist for the primary purpose of laundering money from other enterprises. No idea if that's true, but if it is, perhaps the same holds true for some of the Angeles bars as well.

She also don't like sitting away from the stage case the money flies or the balls drop. Says she makes a few 100 a night doing nothing but picking up ping pong balls or 20 peso notes the Koreans throw around. I once thought about sitting at the stage sit all night at dollhouse and grabbing a few 20's myself LOL.
I heard stories about how foreigners aren't welcomed in after school and I couldn't believe it so I went there to see it for myself. I walked in around 4 pm and there was 7 or 8 girls sitting on the stage, all the perimeter bargirls do this when there is no customers but as soon as someone walks in the start to dance but in after school they ignored me. A waitress asked me what I want to drink and I asked for SML she then disappeared and after 5 minutes of waiting I gave up and went to fields where I'm welcomed.

Since you are talking about foreign owned business in the Philippines may I remind you of Lewis one of the owners of Lewis grand hotel and how he mysteriously disappeared after allegedly sold his shares in the hotel and in high society to his Filipino partners.

And if not you the same cannot be said for those who unwittingly walk into one of those bars and foolishly buys drinks for girls whom he has no hope of barfining, if they even sit with him at all.

    Just saying.

The only foreigners I know who have started successful businesses are those who have been here for quite a while and who understand most of the informal rules. Please note that the most successful business owner in Angelesa guy who probably owns half the cityis a European.

For an impartial view, without the usual ignorant emotional arguments, check the World Bank survey on "Ease of Doing Business". Malaysia and Thailand have far better World bank ratings. Before opening a "business" think very, very hard about it.

Yep 20 peso bills, some will throw 5 or 10 peso coins. Not a heck of a lot of money, even to the girls. But to some mongers it may be a whole lot of money.

Puss is always cheaper in bum fxck, Egypt anywhere in the world. For value minded try southern Sudan. Just add in cost of time and transportation.

To me, they seem quite excited. Much more interesting than making eye contact with white punters, at least.

Also, I've often seen quite large stacks of 20's being used, with some girls raking in much more than one or two bills.

Area 51, Boom Boom and Bust

It seems that most mongers are unaware that Fields Avenue and Perimeter Rd are just small parts of the Angeles City sex industry. Area 51, or simply Area to locals, once had over 1,000 brothels in Barangay Sta. Teresita. Area is located approximately 4 kilometers from Fields Ave and serviced poor Filipino men who came by the truckloads from as far north as Tarlac and as far south as Macabebe and Apalit. Filipino fathers and uncles brought their sons and nephews to Area to lose their virginity for P200 or 4 cans of sardines. Foreigners did not venture into Area 51 to make it rain pesos or pay double the rates because the NPA housed insurgents and communist activists there.

Today, Area is in decline with less than 10 brothels remaining. One of Area's former barangay captains attributed the decline to competition from Fields Ave. Ironically, Fields has also seen better days as bars have taken a hit from disruptive technologies like affordable smartphones, cheap internet access, and social networking apps. More girls are working the disco scene. Angeles City has entered the Age of the Freelancer.
