The bandwidth I wasted was about a minor point, with his retarded speculation as "proof" which I had to reply / debunk. I'm such a geek.

The facts that we should all agree on are this:

Some girls in Angeles (especially the cute ones at the large mega-bars) will not go out with all customers, for varying reasons.

All/most customers should be able to barfine all/most of the girls at the medium and small bars. Although, IMO, the "pure" Koreans ones might be different.

And of course, things are not as good as it was previously (Just like the rest of SE Asia).

You know that you've been to Angeles way too often when the some of the manager and mamasans recognizes you.

In Atlantis and other bars, I still think that you can ask the mamsan / head waitress about the girls. But I am a nerdy engineer. I have to take into account other view points (even though it's dubious). My personal experiences doesn't apply to the normal first time tourist. The mamsans and waitresses talk openly about barfine and everything to me. But I am a "regular" and have a trustworthy face. But definitely, you should be able to ask safe questions such as: is that girl a cherry girl? Does that girl have a boyfriend? I still think you should be able to ask, does that girl go out? It would be nice if a newbie tries it, and reports on it. A real newbie, not some fake.

If a person actually went to a bar "thousands" of times, that is at LEAST 2 years worth. Then it seems that he / she / it should be able to talk to the right person and get some FACTUAL information. Yes, Atlantis was raided last year, but if the "thousand" time person actually spoke with the foreign manager (only 1 - LOL!), then he would have told you he got lucky, and he left just before the raid (that was the story he told me last year). He was not arrested.

My perception (my opinion) is that the "police raid" fear has abated (70% of the bar raided. Huh?) You can check the Margarita and Harry the Horse websites for all the raids in the past years. I believe all are listed (is this correct?) There doesn't seem to be any raids recently; not many / any? in the past year. The several bars I visited doesn't have the ten shots or the party animal bottle requirement to "barfine" the girls anymore.

(Most bars don't accept prepayment. Huh?) FACTS: In Club Asia, you pay the girl at the bar. Same as Atlantis (it was last year, should be the same right now). I am assuming all the DH bars work the same way. In Lolipop, the barfine comes on a bill; you pay the waitress. In Q bar you pay the waitress. In Bunker Calypso, you pay at the bar. Even at the height of the police raid fear, I never paid at the hotel (although I only went to the same several bars, and I did read something about it on the net; maybe some people are reading old, incorrect information). Are there currently any bars in which you pay the entire barfine to the girl at the hotel?

The better/correct way to tell this joke: How to you know that (put the group you want to disparage here) are lying? Their lips are moving. IMO, Filipinos are a good source of information about the Philippines. Of course, you have to be smart, and read between the lines, and understand the situation and intended audience.

Would like to say a few words for anyone who is thinking of visiting angeles for the first time or after a long time away.

Things have changed, things are not straight forward.

Contrary to many board members claims asking owner, mummys. Waitresses if a girl on stage is available for take out is fruitless, most will be coy, wondering who you are, do you work for the police, raid teams etc, the standard answer will be to distance themselves and may even say point blank that the bar does not sell pussy, that all negotiations are between the girl and you, basically, ask the girl, so why ask anyone else.

Go into a bar, see a girl you like, call her over, if she is willing to sit down then buy her a drink, make the girl feel relaxed in your company, if you want to leave with her tell her so, she will inform you of how it all works, most bars do not accept up front payments for the girls like the pre bar raid days, they tell the girls to quote the full price to customers to include her cut and the bars cut usually to be paid to the girl directly back at your hotel thus nobody can claim the bar of any wrong doing.

Do not get upset if many bargirls, especially the cute ones will not leave with you, it has nothing to do with you personally, she will reject everyone,regardless of race,age etc, wanting to earn commision in other ways without leaving her bar, repeat, don't take it personally,she is only choosing to earn her money the easy way, move on.

More than 70% of all bars in angeles have been raided in the last few years, when bars are raided it causes untold problems and cost vast amounts of money for bar owners to make the problem go away, many bars never reopened after raids, many owners sold out after raids, I think you will find that even atlantis bar was raided last year and many girls, managment taken away.

Prostitution is 100% illegal all over the phills, any bars caught selling pussy face serious problems, foreign owners, managers face the prospect of minimum 20 years in jail and a 2 million peso fine if caught employing girls who accept barfine, some managers / owners are still in jail awaiting their day in court after their bars being raided and them arrested.

- I like the way Atlantis is run. It's professional.

- The girls are directed (by laser) to stand on the lower and upper stage, spread apart evenly. They don't yap in groups like other bars. I was in another bar, and I left early because the girls yapping with each other drowned out the music.

- Early on during the evening (maybe between 7 and 8 PM), the regular dancers rotate between the lower and upper stages. After their set on the lower stage, the girls walk in a line up to the upper floor. You then can get a close up look at the girls. This whole process makes it easier for the groups of East Asians (and others) to come in, and chose their girls. The cultural dances occur later on the night.

- Even the regular dancers are divided into groups: spotlight, free style, etc.

- Last night I observed 13 cultural dancers on stage performing their routines. I observed 7 coyote dancers milling around, but don't know the coyote total since I didn't see their dance routine.

- I was told (yes, bar girls lie. You have to talk to multiple girls, read between the lines, and know situation and intended audience) regular dancers get either 140 or 250 pesos. The 140 is for the girls who wear the normal bikinis and 250 for the girls that wear the string bikinis. Seems lower than other bars, but Atlantis attracts the large number of customers resulting in a huge number of barfines.

- Last night, some of the girls changed to "models". They do a modeling show. They wore a string bikini with decorate tape covering parts of their upper body. Now, their salary for the day goes up to 500 pesos, but they lose it all if they leave before the night ends.

- Was told that some of the cultural / spotlight girls have boyfriends. I think that's the code work for sponsor. She said that some do go out, but only for very short time (maybe for an hour) because they have "boyfriends". LOL!

- Was told they have 5 guys (all gays) that help with the make-up and hair for the girls. All gays, no real men allowed. LOL! One reason why many of the girls looks so good.

- IMO, on Thursday most of the cultural / coyote dancers I observed were above average. A few were pretty cute. A few were marginal. The cute ones, IMO, will compete for the top 5 on a Saturday night.

- As written previously, many of the girls are selective, just East Asians. I think the girls will accept Singaporeans. One girl said she also accepts Americans, but she doesn't accept Indians and Malaysians.

Here's the answer how it works with the regular cultural dancers at Atlantis. Went barhopping tonight; spoke with a mamsan; didn't speak with that Western manager. But I can if....

I spoke with that Western manager last night (Thursday). He seems to be a nice guy.

The dancers that perform the dance routines are divided into 2 groups called the cultural dancers and coyote dancers. I asked him what the difference is. He said none, just to make it more lively and fun. They wear matching outfits (last night it was black bikinis and yellow / black checkered bikinis, not that elaborate. Outfit changes during the week). These are the regular cultural / coyote dancers at Atlantis. Now, there are sometimes special groups that the DH group advertises and does special shows. Last night, they had these special pole dancers (it was advertised with posters). Previously, I've seen special shows (in which the DH group advertised) where the girls wore elaborate outfits. Didn't ask if these girls are able to go out. Maybe this where some people are getting confused with.

Confirmed with the Western manager: the cultural and coyote dancers are able to go out anytime, but sometimes they are "shy".

Hence the whole point is: Talk to the "Head Waitress" (the mamasan type who wears that nice business attire who are directing the girls). They will know which girls (for both the cultural / coyote and regular dancers) are cherry girls, which do not barfine, and (most importantly for non East Asians) which girls are selective.
