No knives, ice, or many utensils. Nor salt, pepper, oil, soap etc, so if you plan any cooking you need an initial run to a store for maybe $20 of basic stuff. The place has a heater-AC that works. No bath tubs, only 2 showers, if that matters. It is very secure with both a doorman a desk clerk. No one goes in or out without them. Best of all they are chica friendly. I had at least 7 or 8 women during both the day and night with no problems. They don't always require her documents to be left at the desk, which is actually not a good thing for you, so I always made her do it. I paid $55 a night. Includes breakfast, but I dint see any breakfast room. I did not ask, as I don't really want breakfast. Check their website for info. But call or send them an Email to negociate the lowest rate. They give big discounts off the Web rates.
I have stay in the Suites Apart Hotel, as per recommendations from David, No issues. I had a room with a jacussi a street view, it was perfect, Girl Friendly, no questions asked.

They even have a driver, that works most of the tiem for them, I hire him for a full day and I think it was like $25 or $30 including waiting time at restaurants and everything. It might be expensive but I know I was safe with the guy.

    Golden Parachute!

Rumour has it that Marriott is running a special for the rest of the year. You can trade in your 401k for a week stay (depending on market conditions, this may require double or triple occupancy)!

    Doubletree

I will be in Lima 2 nights in November, and could stay at the Doubletree (Hilton) using points. Can anyone comment on whether this hotel is chica-friendly?

    Thanks

    Miraflores Apt

With the exception of Dec 19-Jan 17 the "Bachelor pad" is full for the year. Due to the success of the "Bachelor Pad" and the demand here for "special needs" apartments, I am starting a (Development company) to construct Lima's first "monger owned"and managed apartment building.

We are currently searching locations in Miraflores (I welcome input from Lima regulars on your wish lists) and anticipate construction to start this summer and completion by late fall 2009-summer 2010.

I have to thank LimaBusy for believing in me and arranging the private equity to complete this million dollar project. With the recent doubling and trebling of land prices in Miraflores and the credit crisis in Europe, Asia and the USA, his Mid East contacts are greatly appreciated.

I also want to thank all you ISG members who have expressed interest in buying units as our success will make the Lima forum a better and stronger community.

Some of the highlights we plan to incorporate:

Double Master bedrooms (en suite jacuzzis). Two bedroom units
    Loft style 1 bedroom units
    Heated and A/C
    Equipped for Natural gas
    Ocean View
    Marble baths
    Open kitchens granite counters
Monger friendly common areas with self service bar. Bottle locker for owners.
On- site laundry service for owners or guests.
    Roof top bar pool/jacuzzi.
    High end equipped/furnished
Long term and short term leases

Lastly I would like to thank all the members who have stayed at the Bachelor pad in the past and I hope to see you again when the new project is complete.

    Short term aparment rental

With the hundreds of apartment ads, can anyone recommend a specific short-term (5 nights) apartment and contact info? (LB is booked)

  11. #265
Good list and certainly necessary. The prices are the rack prices but when called on the phone you can generally obtain a discount. The Suites Aparthotel is a case in point.

I still recommend that forum members if visiting for a week or more, consider a short term apt. rental. Each day there are more and more available.

Just got what appears to be a mass mailing e-mail from Las Suites. They are offering 50% off their normal prices this month. Have to call them and ask for it. Their numbers are on the website.

  14. #262
Thanks for all the feedback guys, I appreciate it. I also looked into some apartments, a few that looked real nice and cheap, on a website that LimaBusy gave me.

I ended up finding the Las Suites Apart-Hotel on Grau - It has 4 stars, and I booked a "suite" for $70 per night. I also hear on good word that it is guest-friendly.

I will for a little while keep my reservation at ML in case one of you tells me horrible things about Las Suites.

Thanks again, and I'll be in town 11/17-22, from Arequipa and Colombia.

    BTW, very funny Polvo!

I wouldn't say these hotels are 'dumps' but they are budget lodging in Miraflores. To do better you either have to fork out the cash, stay outside of Miraflores, or know some of the locals who have short-term apartments in their homes with private entries for guests.

The Las Palmas is so loud that it is impossible to sleep, even with heavy-duty earplugs. Everything else is ok plus top notch showers, but I would only suggest it as the last option before an all-nighter at Tequila's or sleeping on the benches in Parque Kennedy.

I would recommend the Maria Luisa without hesitation. It is much quieter than LP, the suites have mini-fridges, and you can snag wifi from the sofas in the hallways. There are safes available at the front desk at the Maria Luisa if you ask. I have stayed there in total for the equivalent of months and only had one situation where someone had gone through my stuff, but fortunately nothing was missing.
