After returning to Guatemala over Thanksgiving, I need to add this correction to the post below about Las Torres. It is absolutely the LAST place you ever want to stay.

The owner has now instituted a US$50 chica fee. Yes, your read that correctly.

Hell, it would be cheaper to rent the chica one of their US$35 rooms!

But don't do that either. Even when I met a woman at noon in the lobby to go to lunch, I got the evil eye from the owner. When I returned, he even had the nerve to give me a lecture.

Fuck him. Fuck Las Torres.

Since I can't ever seem to remember the contact information for Apartamentos Las Torres, I am going to place a link here to Eric7's report.

Now I will never again have to search back through the entre thread every time someone asks me for a reasonably priced place to stay.

Las Torres is in Zona Viva (Zona 10) across the street from the Holiday Inn, in the heart of the restaurant and nightclub district. It's a short taxi ride away from the mongering clubs in Zonas 9 and 6.

The new rate for a room with one double bed is $38.50 per night, but if you ask for a cash discount you can get it for $35.

And here is a link to two fine restaurants within a block of Las Torres, the Holiday Inn, the Westin, and the Intercontinental. The first has native Guatemalan fare (to die for) and the second one is Italian.

You can copy and paste the link into a report, or you can do it the easy way and use the [post] tags, which you would format like this:

[post]Post ID number here[/post]

You can identify the Post ID by moving your mouse pointer over the "Quote" button and reading the Post ID number in the Status Bar at the bottom of your browser window. It's the last number at the end of the link text, just after the letters "p=".

Please note: In order for this thread to be effective, it cannot turn into a discussion forum. I don't want to have to be so tough about this, but any reports that do not include a link to another report will be deleted.
