Hi Guys,

I'm traveling to Sri Lanka end of April and after an 11 hr flight will need a couple of days to stretch and chill.

Can anyone advise me on a good location to head for once at airport, I will be heading for Hikkaduwa eventually and have seen some good reports on there, but what about something nearer Colombo other than Negombo (going the wrong way north instead of south).

I read one report about picking up a girl and getting her to travel with you for a few days (is that just wishful thinking or can it happen for real ? )

What about transport, can I get a coach from airport or train?

Some places, the management use their security to threaten you when you are in such a situaiton. Got to be very calm in handing these kind of situaitons, because you will be drunk too.

Similar things happen always. Why not you check individual items before you settle the bill. I always do that. And at Precious. Base and Pier69 it happened to me and my friends too. But we refused to pay what we have not ordered and got the bill corrected before paying. Paid only then after.

You have to be tactful. Not just to pay what the girl says.

We had no choice we did not ask them any thing but pay the bill decently and walk out. The owner was also in that day and on the ladies request came and was introduced to us. He gave his visiting card to both me and my friend and told us we did not have to pay entrance fee, in future if we showed the visiting card.

It was a utter waste of money, we could have gone for Rusians for the value of Rs.34,000/-.

I guess it is not worth it to go to karoakes, rather better to go to a night club and try to hook up with some one.

I also recall a similar incident at BASE Karoake in 2004, we were billed for things we did not have and when I took up the issue, my friend was high with the drink, I went to the manager and this girl had taken the bill to my friend who was dancing and got him settle it with his credit card. and when I came back the lady was telling me we cant do any thing about the bill as the bill is now paid - settled. The bill was rs.24,000/- + for three guys and the accompaning three ladies.

I guess people should think twice before visiting a Karoake.
