Does anyone know a lady from Craigslist called "Sally. " She wants to meet in a hotel. I thought she is a scam but she does not ask for advance payment. She just wants to meet in a hotel. I asked her if it is her first time but she says she is experienced. She claims that Fairmount Nile city is green. Does anyone have updates on the status of hotels in Egypt?

Let me start with a thank you note to the Admin, for creating this thread so that visitors to Egypt can suggest and relate their experiences of hotels and places to stay at Egypt.

I visited Cairo recently and here is my experience. If you like to stay at a 5 star hotel then try ‘The Season’s Hotel’, ‘Grand Hyatt’, ‘Sheraton’, ‘Hilton’. Now almost all of these hotels are at or near the dooki area. The ‘Hilton’ is at the down town, close to ‘Talaat Harb Square’. The good thing about staying here is you get a close view of the River Nile, you are close to the downtown area, the Egyptian Museum and in general these hotels are at place where you can travel easily to nearby locations. The travel is easy and cheap by a local taxi. Hotel taxis or cabs are nice, but run on a higher fare. I mostly took the ordinary taxis. The estimated room rent is close to US$200/day. Please note that there is another ‘Sheraton’ located near the Airport, so be aware about selecting the ‘Sheraton’. Cairo airport is far away from the downtown area, so you may save a little money staying at the hotels close to the airport, but you will have to pay almost US$9 for a one way travel from those hotels to downtown, so you decide

If you are on a low budget or just want to save your money, you can try these 3 star hotels. One of the hotels, I experienced was ‘The Pharoah’s Hotel’ located at Dooki area. The room was air-conditioned, fresh towels, clean bed, a t.v., a small fridge & safe locality. They also had a restaurant on the top floor with savory food and the right prices. It is at a walking distance from the ‘Sheraton’ at the Dooki area. Although it had a Disco, it is not GF. The rent was US$50/day. Another 3 star hotel close by was the ‘Concorde Hotel’ and they were asking US$55/day. I settled for the Pharoah’s Hotel. I also noted that these hotels quoted the prices in US$, I am not sure if they will accept Egyptian Pounds from the foreigners.

Getting to these hotels is not a problem; you can get a taxi from the airport. They will charge you a bit extra, a total of 80 to 100 Egyptian pound, depending on where you go. This is an estimate from the airport to the downtown area.

A bit on the traveling and sight seeing, while in Cairo, try visiting :
    - The Khan-e-Khalili bazaar, which in an old bazaar (market place). It houses small gifts, souvenirs from perfumes, bags, dresses, etc. The shopkeepers speak fairly well english. Remember to bargain, prices are inflated to a 50% or more, so get yourself a good discount. It is worth visiting. Taxi fare is about 10 to 15 Egyptian Pounds, from downtown to Khan-e-Khalili bazaar, one-way.

    - The downtown area, encompasses a large area : 'Talaat Harb Square'. Modern day shops, places to eat, window shopping. Nice to take a stroll and enjoy the sights.

    - The Egyptian Museum, in the downtown area. 40 Egyptian Pounds is the entrance fee, and they are very strict with cameras; photography is not allowed. The mummy’s chamber is an extra 70 Egyptian pounds.

    - The pyramids are located in the Giza area. The taxi fare is about 60 Egyptian pounds, round trip; to and fro from the downtown area. Try visiting the ‘Light and Sound’ show at the pyramids, offered in different languages. Check the schedule, or ask your hotel or arrange for a trip.

I hope we can get more posts as such, so that new visitors have an idea to where to go to, while in Egypt.

    Hotels and mongering

    Guy,

Forget about finding hotels in Cairo that are girl-friendly simply because they are not exsisting.

In Hurghada, the best place to pick up girls is Sindbad Disco at Sindbad hotel so better try this one. It is full of russians and I heard some locals and recently chinese.

Meriette resort apartment use to be girl friendly and it had its own supply of russain tourists in-house to try to pick up. They are usually easy going and some of them are providers. You will be able to tell from the way they act in the hotel lobby. Mirette is not expensive so try it out to stay and to take girls. However, that was 3 years ago so things moght have changed. Just check it our

need your help - hurghada and co

    Hi guys,

End of March I am planing to go first time to Hurghada, cause of sun, and hopefully too cause of all the russian babes. So if there is anybody who can tell me about best places to pick up young (I prefer teenies or beginning twenties) ladies from the east, you are hardly welcome to tell me.

Another point which is interesting is where to stay. I do not want to go to one of these five-star-hotels many miles out of the center. I prefer a good area, and good means close to action. And of course it would be helpful, if the hotel is girl-friendly. I heard about the trinton empire, but I do not know if it is "trinton empire" or "trinton empire beach ressort".

So if anybody knows something about one of these houses, or about another one, would be nice if you will tell me.
