Typically statements like that come from like Kung fu stated... teenagers looking for attention, or perhaps someone who wishes they had a lot of cash. Personally I believe you... (not that it matters). After all, if you didn;t have the cash would you really follow through and spend $1000/night? Your other posts are genuine and it takes time to write them. So, yes I believe you. I also think you will have a great time and one thing I might suggest... if you really just like to spend cash, might I suggest you go look for a few libraries or schools (colegios) in Cartagena and make a generous donation. I think that is where the money would be best spent. There are an awful lot of con artists in Cartagena. In fact, when you go out to a disco take some candy and give it to the 7-10 year old kids that hound you as you get out of the cab. Most likely, they will throw it right back at you. They want money for drugs... not food or candy, etc. It's actually quite depressing and something that you or I cannot directly solve. My point is there are a lot of needy people in Cartagena. Use your head and if you want to be generous, recognize who and how you can help and make donations to those you feel can help the poverty of those struggling. Schools, libraries, clinics, etc. Heck you probably can think of many more than I could even begin to list. Just keep your eyes open to who is really just out to make a buck to cure their own drug habit for the day.

Kungfus costs are pretty much right on. Thus I say, yes... do tip the drivers, chefs, concierges etc. They can all use the money and I am a firm believer that you over-paying or over-tipping has absolutley no bearing on what I will be paying in the future. So be genrous if you'd like, they will be getting paid pretty much spot on what Kungfu has written. So if you think they deserve more(which they do) and they make your stay pleasant and enjoyable then absolutely tip them. I have no complaints at what you are doing. I solely found it odd that you would be so foolish to announce on this board to so many people of your financial situation and I hope you are not the 1st gringo that I have ever heard of to be kidnapped out of Laguito/Bocagrande. After all, if you announce it here... my bet is you do it face to face with people as well. Not a good idea while in Colombia, with anyone. Not with the chicas, nor even with the owner of your penthouse. Anyone in Colombia will do anything for a buck, regardless of values.. and it sounds like you my friend are a gold mine.

I like to help people with costs when I know what they are, and as I said and as you know you are being taken to the cleaners by someone... which I will call a con-artist, and there are a lot of them in Cartagena. The saying goes... no das papaya. Your $1,000/night is set... but wahtever you spend on top of that, why not make sure it goes toward a good cause as opposed to con-artists which will confront you 24 hours a day in Cartagena.

Must be a previous poster that was banned, someone that doesn't want to use their regualr ID, or someone that has something to gain... i.e. a competitor. But what kind of competitors could there posibly be in Cartagena for something like this? Maybe there are... it's something I have no interest in looking into. It's just kind of puzzling that Kungfu came out from nowhere. His info is spot on... it just serves no purpose to spend so much time to attack your plan however odd it is from the norm of others on this board. There must be a reason.

Winner, I agree, and I wish the subject of how much money I do or don't have, had never came up. But I NEVER set out to discuss how much money I had to spend. After an almost endless series of responses to my trip plans as posted, regarding how much money I was spending, I was trying to get across the point to stop worrying about how I'm spending my money, cause I'm not worrying about it. And NO, I NEVER ever tell people how much money I have... it's never like that and I'M not like that. I should not have allowed myself to be hounded into doing so, but there's just nothing I can do about it now.

I've got a friend of a friend that owns an 80 foot Hatteras long range criuser. I was invited to spend a week on the boat fishing drinking, talking about pussy and telling a few fish stories, aka. Lies. None of us are experienced seaman but the owner of the boat was in the navy and knew how to navigate. My feeling was that 6 rednecks have no business out on the open sea, so I decided not to drink anything until I got comfortable with the boat and my shipmates. The owner gave us orientation, assigned driving shifts and cooking partners for each meal. We made sure the life boat was in working order, test fired it up and gased it up, what to do in case of a fire, general safty precautions etc. I was impressed with his concern for safty. Anyway, when we cruised from one port to another, the owner of the boat would get off the boat and get himself a suite at the nearest 5 star hotel. We thought he was crazy because the captains quarters on the hateras were very luxurious. I'll admit I was a little envious, but I was happy just to be aboard. The captain told us he did this because he needed to make important phone call etc. Concerning his business and thats understandable. I guess what I came to understand about really wealthy people is WHY BE A WHEEL IF YOUR NOT GOING TO ROLL. I think tripstat just wants to roll and you can't blame him for that, although the bragging about his wealth is a little tacky.

This is a funny post so lets deal with it part-by-part!!

Here Tripp has changed the story since he was posting before he had the "master suite" but now says he has the entire penthouse. He still will not tell us which penthouse it is. Surely you have seen photos?

Wow! Do you realize that no less than 10 taxis sit in front of the buildings in Laguito 24 hours a day. You could ask ANY driver to take you to where the girls are. You only have to sit in the car and say "chicas!" Cost is about $2.00 to anywhere.

Going price for this in Cartagena is about $10 a day. It is included in some of the penthouses for free.

TRANSLATION: Some guy who has no job that will walk down the street to LDV and drag out one of the over priced girls because she give him $10 commision.

You need to drink about $500 in booze each day to break even. I think a bottle of rum is $4 in Cartagena.

You keep saying all your booze and food is paid for in the cost. Where? At your penthouse/apartment or at all the restaruants you choose to dine at and discos you go to dance at? That's a big difference... if it's only at your penthouse/apartment that means nothing, as the only meal I would ever eat at my penthouse/apartment on vacation would be breakfast anyways... if even that. The restaurants and nightlife is what makes Cartagena so special. My sense is if you are really paying $1000/night than you have the cash to go out and have a fun time at the clubs and enjoy some great meals at the nicer restaurants. To me, free meals and drinks at your apartment are worthless and have no value whatsoever. In fact it if you do the majority of your eating or drinking at your apartment you have just wasted a week of your time because you won't experience the best part of Cartagena. If it were me, I'd call them up and see if you can cancel and get a refund. Even if you only get half back... I.e. $500/night back., you'll be better off using that $500/night and finding your own accomocdations and spending your cash as you wish. on the other hand... if it does pay for all your booze and meals anywhere you want to go (and the meals and booze of your dates) then why not... go ahead and do it... even though as others have pointed out, you are being taken behind a woodshed.

For what it's worth... for $1000 my bet is Aldo would let you rent out LDV for a night with all the 50 chicas (give or take a few) that frequent LDV and you could invite your best 50 best male friends.. thus 100 people and all the booze on the house for a night. You could spend $100 to stay at the Hilton... that's probably about what it costs and $100 for any chica you want for the next 24 hours... though my sense is, unless you are butt ugly AND have the personality of a rock... you wouldn't pay for a piece of pussy for an entire week after this free party that you throw. Thus $1200 gets you all the free pussy you want for the rest of the week... at least it would for me. I guess what I'm pointing out... as others have done is show far money goes in Colombia.

This free meals and booze idea means nothing if it's only at your apartment.
