Just if others have the same questions: I am having Claro right now and have the impression that not many people have it and that it is quite expensive. There are two other mayor providers Movistar and another local one, I have the impression that the local one is the most common. Maybe this is the best option.

Rakisimo is very good and reasonable. There are also a few Fish Restaurants on the beach nearby which are also good.

Riquisimos in Laguito, Carbon de Pollo across from the Almirante in Bocagrande, Santo Domingo Plaza in Centro I choose the place with the hottest waitress lmao. I ain't much of a foodie but between Elektra and Santo Domingo Plaza there is a few places that popped up that one of my friends mentioned. Intrga tropical has good fish near the Hilton check the map.

Short Time Hotels / Motels

6. DUNES. Las Dunas is Canapote, Carrera 17 # 62-19. Not far from Jaiba, in a nearby barrio. Deluxe accommodation, better quality than Jaiba, more expensive, but still very cheap for the service provided: 30k 2 hours (2007 price)!

Standard price to go there by taxi: 10k from El Centro (15k from Bocagrande) , max 12k at late night. Ask before going, so you will be not overcharged. Give the driver a 2000k tip. I was told 15k from El Centro. It depends how you look and how greedy is the driver (and how willing you are to be overcharged).

The taxi driver will charge you more to go back (15k). The motel will call you a taxi for you.

First wanted to say thanks again to World Travel 69 for the list! I used Las Dunas for the first time this past month. The rack rate posted on the inside of the door was 19k per hour. When it came time to pay (through the little slot window) , the guy asked me for 57k, but when I questioned him about it, he came back in a couple of minutes and said it was 38k. I didn't keep track of the exact time (it had been a long night) , but knew it was more than one hour and couldn't have been more than two. 38k agreed with the posted hourly rate for two hours, so that's what I paid.

I paid the same as above for the taxi. 10k from El Centro (late night) and 15k back to Bocagrande / Laguito (which included dropping the chica off near El Centro and another stop before my apartment).

King size bed, a / see, enclosed shower (cold) , equipped bathroom, music box, mirrors, soap, condom, paper sanitary socks, fresh towels, house phone to ring manager, etc.

Taxi pulls you into a garage that is adjacent / attached to your room. Management calls you a taxi when you ask, opens the garage door upon the taxi's arrival, and out you go.

Obviously raises the cost of one's session, but if you are in need of discretion / privacy and want a deluxe accommodation in a relatively safe environment, then Las Dunas certainly will suit just fine.

I have the person's buisness card in my hand Dolores Urrechurto Ramos for apartments in Torre del Lago email is doloresuramos@hotmail.com Another option for chica friendly apartment I think is Locogringo2's apartment bottom floor that faces Terra Bomba. I would steer clear of Mirador I may take it off my list I no longer recommend that building. I am looking forward to the Intercontinental getting done I have had no issues with that chain in the past, the Radisson will be finished soon but not sure if I want to stay by the airport.

Been messaging with luis castelar posso. Can anyone here vouch for this guy? He wants 450K for 2 bdr in tore del lago with 50 percent deposit via wire transfer.

Other than Christmas and New Years. 450 mil is almost twice the going rate for a 2 bdrm in Torres del Lago. What's he doing, including a chica at your disposal 24 hours a day?

I rented three times with him, but a one bedroom apartment in Torre del Lago. Last time in May 2011. But 450K for a two bedroom apartment per night seems a bit expensive. However also depends on the season. I paid through bank transfer once. A lot of exchange losses, but I do not live in a USD country. Then I decided that it is actually less expensive to do it via Western Union. He was very correct and only went to get the final payment when I actually arrived although I did it some days prior to my arrival. There is something to critizise with him: He will ask you every second day if you want to book excursions with him.

I emailed him back asking for the pictures of the apartment and more info and he never got back to me. I am going with Juan and one of his older apartments. I am wary of sending money over wire to someone who doesn't have a lot of people vouch for him; not saying he's not trustworthy just that I don't have enough information to trust him. Thanks for your feedback though, I'll try to meet him in person this time.
