You can fly from Singapore to Phuket if you want too and the cost is about SGD646.00 to and return. I think is daily flight. You can check out at http://www.airasia.com

Or you can catch a bus from Singapore at night and arrive to Penang in the morning then transit in a van to Phuket. This is more economical but takes time for travelling.

Thanks- ended up buying a ticket on SilkAir It was like 584 S$ with tax. It best fit my time, although Bali was about 100 cheaper

My flt is booked from NRT to BKK Dec 5! Am i going to get hosed? From NRT should I try KUL, JKT, MNL or what? I've never tried them but would like so this may be an opportune time. What say you all?

My guess is Bangkok will be shutdown for 1-2 weeks.
Even if it opened today, it would take time to repair all the damage the demonstrators caused.

I just got a text message from Cathay pacific all flight from HKG to Bangkok is cancel today due to airport closure because of protest, they block all main rd to the airport.

I was arriving Bangkok from US on 29th novemebr early morning and leaving for Pattaya same day around 7. 30 am. I am just worried due to this political crisis. Wheter it is safe to go out of the terminal to take a taxi or should I cancell my plans and go back to my home county india from airport. Any idea if situation is likely to improve or become worse. Appriciate your help on this.

I posted the meet on 2 other boards as well. Come out and hang with us. I want to get the New Yorker Pattaya board members together. This bar is cheap as hell so you can save money to get back to Thailand! Don't believe me? Look at the drink menu. They even give you free fucking hot dogs as much as you need. It is an dive bar with a long history that has become an institution. If you're a New Yorker, you need to know about this place. I will find a table (inside or in the outside back area if it isn't cold) and put a piece of paper on the table that says "Pattaya" (thanks to Evil for this obvious but brilliant idea!)! If you get there first and see a table then you take it and put down a piece of paper that says Pattaya. Deal? Come find us. This bar isn't that big, so should be easy to find each other.

Unfortunately, this would mean that all of your valuable information will be deleted in the next thread cleanup.

Anyway, moving one report is a 4 step procedure, so it would be easier for me if you would simply re-post this in one of the discussion threads.

In the future, please consider that the TRAVEL PLANS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS thread is for posting ANNOUNCING YOUR TRAVEL PLANS, not for travel questions, travel advice, etc. If members start posting questions and advice, then the TRAVEL PLANS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS thread quickly becomes a General Discussion thread, and then we no longer have a thread to announce travel plans.
