Bangkok to SFO, in September and Feb 2021 April 20-30th, both were at 22-23,000 baht. My coffee mate BKK to London June went up just a bit but nowhere near my destination. I check from SFO to BKK for end of October to Dec 15th, Coach is just shy of $700 USD.

I'm Chinese American, as I've noted even before I got darker no one ever thought of me being Chinese of course that was before they started coming. Whenever I entered into a GC on the Darkside for the first time things kind of come to a stop they usually think I'm Thai police. A number of times I've had to do some business down at Soi 6, I walk into a particular place ask ladies is the boss / manager here since the majority are owned by the Nightwish group usually one or a small group of whites sitting around I know one of them is in charge yet the ladies tell me " not here " or they play dumb.

When it comes to the Chinses Mafia (Triads) they have been here for a long long time already. The Chinese M. O. It isn't to be noticed they blend in and make agreements or partnerships like the Thais you have several levels, the basic motorbike taxi guy is your lowest but the Chinese aren't here in large groups particularly in Pattaya. If one does a bit of research one would find up at the Golden Triangle their history leaders have Chinese blood origin of Hakka. With the opening of the Chinese being able to travel, it is like the wild west many Triads rent homes on the Darkside to run their online gambling and do other business here. In Bangkok, they laundry money through real estate development the lower end Triads particularly from Hong Kong have pretty much brought up Condos in the Bang Na area which there is a huge Taiwan population. The largest present of the Triads in Thailand is the Chinese government who has made huge investments just like they have done in Africa the difference the Chinese / Thai consider themselves brothers whereas Africans aren't allowed to eat at McDonald's.

Mr. E, story I'm not going to confirm but a few years ago pass the dolphin circle at a local club of Thais got into a confrontation because one of their girlfriends was hooked up with a Chinese a fight erupted the Chinese group pretty much wipe the floor with the Thais it was reported in a local paper the Chinese group were Triads this brought attention to their presents for the Chinese that is a big no no.

With the virus, one has to remember the economy has hit everyone in the world it is no different for the West, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese if their economy bounce back quickly and there is income to burn they will return but right now aside from the Thai government Chinese is the main flavor of the day? I wrote before the lockdown I was at Kinnarree with my brother and cousins one girl spoke to my cousin from H. K. The next thing we know we have outcasted a girl who knew my brother later said the girl told everyone we were Chinese from Wuhan. Even my own wife tells me I wouldn't go around telling people you are Chinese although American.

It is all about money and who will have it first? I was reading a report on the Airline industry until an effective vaccine is available and social distant in place that would mean less seating on flights and if the airline decides to operate it still need to break even or make a profit so fewer passengers on the plane even with lower fuel prices don't expect prices to go lower. Example: I checked the fares on Eva prior to May 1st, out of Bangkok 23,000 baht roundtrip this morning it went up to 40,000 baht.

Thais girls are much smarter than you think. Through internet news, they know the numbers n Europe, America are in worst situation now, while many Asian countries are starting to ease lockdown n flight travels.

Even my own wife as far as she has come with me and I with her understand the Virus yet she thinks foreigners are the reason for the virus and it spread. I said yesterday the lockout is coming to an end we can go inside Pattaya, she says I don't want to be around Farangs right now! I'm sitting right there I'm whiter inside than many Americans. At a recent small gathering for my granddaughter's Birthday, one family friend member mentioned the spread in the USA I wanted to get a reaction so I spoke up and explain why and that the USA People are pissed that when all said and done there will be a War Thailand government will have to decide who is their friend China or USA That raised a lot of heads.

When one speaks of Thai people break it down when it comes to WG, in general, I wouldn't say they are smart they are SLICK and know how to play the game. When it comes to the general population tough to say smart when many feel Thailand is basically the center of the earth, a population that doesn't even know where their former K--g was born, where the car or the airplane was invented, can't locate a country outside of the ASEAN group, of course, my comments are a bit bias maybe I've lived here too long?

Can I keep my SIM active beyond August by doing small top ups each month at the AIS website? Also should I install the Thai Sim back into my phone when I do the top up? Any suggestions?

It is recommended to do several small top-ups instead of one big top-up if my memory serves me right. Someone told me once after I had (mistakenly) topped up 1000 baht at one go. It was not at all the same as topping up 10 x 100 baht as far as lengthening validity was concerned.

Yes you can do top ups online to keep the number active. I think it is 10 baht per month that you need to pay. As has already been said, you have to do separate transactions for each month you want. So if you want it to last 5 months do 10 baht 5 times. There is no need to put the SIM into your phone.

For those not lucky enough to have a Thai benefactor topping up their phone there is an inexpensive way to extend the expiry of your phone credit to a maximum of 12 months.

Let us say you a going to load THB200. Do it as one transaction and you will get 1 month extension. Do it as 10 transactions of THB20 (which I think was the minimum the terminal allowed) and you get 10 months on the entire balance. Works at the terminals in the telco stores and online top-up's. Family Mart and 7-eleven would probably be less happy to go through the process multiple times. I can only vouch for this for AIS and True Move.

How did I find this out? A very helpful assistant at an AIS store let me in on the "secret".

There's no way any mafia could take over the Thai mafia in Pattaya.

Far from expert on the subject, but I won't be this sure of Chinese mafia not trying to strengthen their foothold in Pattaya or government asking China for help. After taking almost complete control of Cambodia's casino industry, it's possible they try to increase their online gambling business in Pattaya.

This just reminded me of 2 girls who I found on tinder, both Chinese, both making excuses to meet and saying they're stuck here because of flight ban and will be back home soon. Both tried to force me to signup for sone "gaming" site called MBK or something. I guess this is online betting site. Obviously I didn't.
