Wait until we find out how many in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and the rest of Thailand. Anybody in search of a hotel? Not sure how you will get by with social distancing and the whole different joiner or guest each night.

Since then, the market started marking down about 5 days before expiration at around 20%. All items are usually gone nowadays at around 30% off or 3 days before. Others are doing the same. Because most reduced items are gone and very hard to find.

Does this make me cheap? I buy Green tea frappe at Starbucks for 180 baht. I grabbed some napkins and saw they had packets of sugar. I needed some for coconut milk I had to make with the sticky rice and mango back in my condo. I took about 15 packets of sugar.
My favorite market had fish sausage (I don't eat meat) for 50% off because they were within 2 days expiration in the deli fridge section. I took the only packet that was reduced. I then took about 8 more regular price packets which were to expired in 8 days and hid them in the freezer section under the frozen Amy's Pizza for 500 baht, which only God knows who would buy. I came back a couple of days before the ones I hid were to expire and stuck them back into their normal deli section. Next day, they those 8 packets I returned were marked 50% off and I took all 8.
Either I'm bored or getting cheap or both.

I think it's ok to book about 3 weeks in advance if prices are good, but it might be worth paying a bit more and book a week out for peace of mind.
In case of a cancellation, the airline is unlikely to refund you, and might either give you an option to reschedule (for a specific date in an uncertain future), or a voucher which you would only be able to use within limited time and when paying extra (fare difference).

In a different register, I use this link to check air traffic. For example we can see that at the moment there is a lot of traffic over London, Frankfurt and Zurich. And still little above Paris, Spain and Italy for example. This may be a sign that the Lufthansa group is restarting first.

No use buying a flight more than one week in advance.

Yes I know there are many flights of the Lufthansa group (with Swiss and Austrian). Besides, I like these companies I have often flown with. I think it will be the first who will have many proposals when the borders will reopen.
We can buy tickets but for the moment these flights are not maintained and are canceled when the dates approach.
I think they do like the other companies: they sell tickets knowing that there is a lot of risk that they cannot do them. Then they offer credit notes (but not refunds). This improves their cash flow.
Anyway I take all information to take the flights as soon as possible provided that there is no quarantine and no destination forced upon arrival.

Posts: 220My Paris > Bangkok ticket scheduled for mid July has just been canceled by Thaiairways today. Same as March, April, May and June before with Air France. The months go by and look alike. Until about 2 months before there are departures. Then as we approach dates, there are fewer and fewer flights and more and more expensive. Until they are canceled and there are no more flights at all.
I think for the month of July it's dead.
I fear there will be still for a long time. I no longer see the end of this story.
